Book Blitz & Giveaway: Once Upon A Legend by Mary Ting!

Excerpt!

The voice in my head hummed a tune with ancient words. The somber melody rose an octave higher and dipped lower. A song of death, a song of horror and grief, and yet beautiful and profound, like the voice, raw and pure.
“I’m here. What do you want?” Why was I talking to the water?
I wrapped my arms around my chest when the breeze blew harder, water slamming against the walkway. Perhaps a warning of something terrible to come.
“Idrisa.” It sang my name, a soft tune filling my mind with bliss.
“Why is my lantern black? Why have you put it in front of me?” I shouted, desperate for answers.
Something glowed inside the lake, the size of an orb at first, then illuminated brighter and closer, like the birth of a new star. I threw my arms up to protect myself but the glow shifted, and then split into an image of three women.
Their long, silver hair and flowing white dresses blazed like milky fire, and brilliant light shone where their faces should be. I couldn’t stare without blinding myself.
“We welcome you, Idrisa. Do not be afraid. We are the Eternal Mothers,” they said in unison. Their voices sounded in my head like a hypnotic and celestial chorus.
My heart lurched to my throat. I curtsied, awed and humbled they’d appear before someone like me. Surely there was a mistake.
“What do you want with me?” I asked, my voice shaky.
“You are the light and the dark of this world. Within you lies strength, courage, and hope. Your time has come.” The Lady in the middle held a beaming sword that hadn’t been there before.
The sword rose from the lake, no doubt a hallucination. I shivered, an icy blast of wind nearly knocking me back as mist sprayed over my face. I didn’t know how deep the lake reached. If I fell, I doubted I could swim in the freezing water.
“I am Eternal Mother Viviane, the voice of all. I present to you, Caliburn.” The white light from the blade, like a thousand diamonds blessed with inner fire, beckoned me to reach out for it.
Your time has come? “What do you mean? Is it my time to die?”
“The truest of hearts and the blood of the firstborn, to restore the balance from once torn. Kingdoms shall rise and fall and empires alike, but only the blessed ones can save them all. You must live, Idrisa. You must fight. Most of all, you must have faith and accept your destiny. Now, take Caliburn and run.”
Before I could ask more questions, rapid footsteps vibrated on the walkway.

A story of love and a power that echoes through time.

A prophecy foretold by the Council.
A sword forged by the Ladies of the Lake.
A child born from love and the hope of thousands.

Seventeen-year-old Idrisa is a student from Dumont Orphan School. When the Emperor of Dumonia invites all citizens to a birthday gala for Prince Merrick, she attends and becomes entangled in a world beyond belief.

At the party, Idrisa begins to hear strange voices that urge her to go to the lake. A student from school follows and tries to kill her, but in the fight for her survival, Idrisa gains possession of an eternal sword—gifted by the Ladies of the Lake.

The Emperor demands it, but only Idrisa can wield the sword, so he imprisons her. Her only hope is Prince Merrick, but he is grieving the death of his mother and doesn’t care about anything happening around him.

While held captive, Idrisa uncovers secrets that challenge everything she thought she knew about Dumonia. Enemies and allies emerge when they hear news of the sword, and she must unlock the mystery of the weapon before darkness descends on the empire forever.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Reinventing Rita [Midlife Moxie 01] by Nancy Christie!

Excerpt!

“Well, that’s not how it was supposed to look! Can’t anything turn out right?”
I dropped the paint roller on the tray and pushed my hair out of my face, then took a better look at the color. It was meant to be Marine Blue to go along with the nautical theme I had envisioned for my son’s room, figuring it would be more appropriate for a twenty-one-year-old than the sports motif wallpaper that had been on the wall since Zack turned twelve.
That was the idea anyway. But as the paint dried, it was a darned sight closer to robin’s egg, giving it the unmistakable air of a nursery. Granted, he would only be staying here during summer break, but still I wanted it to be perfect.
I wanted everything to be perfect—the color, the room, the entire three-month visit. I wanted it to be so perfect that, when Zack graduated next June, he might just come back here to live.
But so far, nothing was going according to plan. Not only had I selected the wrong shade of paint, but I was also now left on my own when it came to picking out new curtains and bedding for Zack’s room, since my mother had backed out of our Sunday shopping plans.
“Oh, honey, I forgot to call you,” she said when I finally reached her. Lately, every time I called my mother, it either went straight to voice mail, or if she answered, it was a brief conversation because she was on her way out. For a woman in her mid-seventies, she sure had a busy social life.
“I can’t go. I promised the group that I would be one of the drivers for the trip to the outlet mall in Pennsylvania.”
“Couldn’t you have told me this sooner?” I asked.
“I’m sorry, Rita. But can’t you get your boss to go with you?”
“No, I can’t. Weekends are busy days at Design2Go, and Donna can’t take time off from her business to go shopping just because I need advice,” I said.
“Well, maybe we can do it another day. But now I really must go. Have a good day, sweetie,” and without waiting for my answer, she ended the call, leaving me thoroughly aggravated, although I wasn’t sure whether it was at her or the prospect of venturing alone into the home linen and accessory arena.
Design had never been my strong point, which made my position as a salesclerk at Design2Go problematic. People flocked to our thousand-square-foot store for everything from curtains for the kitchen and towels for the bathroom to décor for living room walls and throw rugs for the laundry room. And my job is to help them develop a look that was uniquely theirs—despite my woeful inability to distinguish between trendy and classic, modern and contemporary, or organic cotton and polyester.
And apparently, if my most recent purchase was any indication, between nursery room blue and the navy shade I really wanted.

Is fifty too old to start over and reinvent yourself?

That’s what Rita Reynolds has to decide after a series of unwelcome occurrences arrive in time for her fiftieth birthday. First, she learns that her college-age son would rather spend the summer with his new girlfriend rather than at home with his mother. Then comes the unpleasant news that her part-time job might be ending, which will toss her back into the job market.

Underscoring it all is the realization that since her divorce, she’s been coasting on the highway of life. Now, it’s time to hit the gas and start moving ahead, even if the bumps in the road are slowing her down!

A chance to teach a six-week baking class brings Rita’s almost-forgotten dream of becoming a professional baker back to the surface. Can she overcome her fear that it might be too late for a midlife makeover? With the help of two friends—Donna, her employer, and Karen, her ex-husband’s second wife—she’s about to find out.

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Filthy Punk by Saint Bryde!

Excerpt!

My phone screen lit up from the little compartment under the stereo, and I almost ignored it.
From my vantage point, I saw Princess_4u’s name, and my heart raced. NSFW Twitter was a godsend because I could indulge in fantasies I’d never participate in in real life. Princess was the quintessential goodie two shoes in the way she dressed: conservative, never giving too much away in her dirty pictures she sent me. But our online relationship had expanded to conversations and occasional sexts.
Point being, I was obsessed with her.
I didn’t have much to go by, but I imagined it was Princess grinding on my lap, in her ripped stockings and soft cotton underwear. I raked my hands down her back before reaching her ass, holding her against me as I dominated her sweet little mouth. If we weren’t in a car, I’d have my way with her tied and bound, unable to move and only able to writhe under the unrelenting pleasure I’d give her till she was on the verge of passing out.

Neve
The one thing my overbearing mother can’t control is my online presence. On NSFW Twitter, I can explore my sexuality and express a side of myself no one else knows—except Zombi. I’ve never even seen a picture of him, but I can imagine him through his texts. Dark, dirty, and commandeering, he’s covered in piercings and listens to the Cranberries. He is a safe space in which I can be accept for who I am.

But I never expected that Zombi would be the very punk my mother has always warned me against, Dominic, someone who I haven’t seen since my adolescence. A holiday dinner turns into a tense and humiliating event. How can I get pay back and make Dominic feel as tortured and turned on as I feel?

Zombi
I’ve been estranged from my family for the last six years, and when my sister’s begging me to come home for a dinner party, I have no intention of going. My band’s just made a huge mistake and I need a distraction. But Neve Bellmere will be there, and I’m in the mood to make a prissy girl like her squirm because she is just as jaded and fake as the rest of my family.

When I discover Neve is the same girl who sends me lewds, this night can only end with her in my bed. But will she want me after how mean I’ve been to her? Or does she love the humiliation?

Bobby Sweet is a legend in the kitchen.
Rumor is, he really knows how to handle an eggplant.
It’s the entire reason I’m here writing this article about him for the paper.
But I keep having to remind myself to stay professional.
Because things are really heating up in his kitchen.
And the rumors are true.
Bobby’s eggplant is something to behold.
Large.
Thick.
Exactly what I’ve been craving.
It makes my mouth water…
Along with other parts of me…
The only question is, will I be able to handle all of it?

Gwyn McNamee is an attorney, writer, wife, and mother (to one human baby and two fur babies). Originally from the Midwest, Gwyn relocated to her husband’s home town of Las Vegas in 2015 and is enjoying her respite from the cold and snow. Gwyn has been writing down her crazy stories and ideas for years and finally decided to share them with the world. She loves to write stories with a bit of suspense and action mingled with romance and heat.

When she isn’t either writing or voraciously devouring any books she can get her hands on, Gwyn is busy adding to her tattoo collection, golfing, and stirring up trouble with her perfect mix of sweetness and sarcasm (usually while wearing heels).

Gwyn is the author of The Hawke Family series, The Slip Series, The Deadliest Sin Series, The Inland Seas Series, The Supernatural Love Stories in the Absurd (written as her alter-ego, DP Payne), and several stand-alone novels.

Writing with a whole lot of sarcasm and humor, mixed with a bit of Southern charm, Christy Anderson ain't no sweet tea kinda storyteller. As an author of romance, Christy believes it doesn't always have to be hearts and flowers; sometimes, it is dark and twisted, but romance nonetheless. She mixes terror, revenge, and a sliver of love and hope into stories about family, friends, struggles, blurred lines, and happily-ever-afters. Christy lives in the beautiful mountains of Eastern Tennessee with her husband and 152 cats (not really, but close), where she enjoys writing one twist at a time. Christy loves to hear from her readers, and here’s where you can find her:

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Faking It With the Grump [Second Chance Café 01] by Kate O’Keeffe!

Excerpt!

Kissing Christopher Young is, well, it’s not what I expected.
Sure, he’s a good-looking guy, so kissing him is not exactly a hardship, despite the fact he’s a million miles from my usual type. He’s all buttoned-up and serious looking, like he would be zero fun at a party, and only moments ago he was looking at me as though I was a crazy person.
   Which wasn’t at all fair.
All I was trying to do was explain the very reasonable situation I find myself in, in which I’m pretending to date him, but then I spotted my boss standing behind him and was forced to make the snap decision to just go right ahead and kiss the guy.
Okay, now that I think about it, I may have come across as a little less than sane. I’ll concede that much.
And yes, it’s probably a confronting experience to have some random woman you met for three seconds not only tell you she’s pretending to date you, but then turn around and kiss you.
   I get it.
   Not my most calculated move.
What I don’t get is why kissing Christopher Young feels so unexpectedly good. His lips are soft and inviting, and his scent is an attractive mixture of fresh, woodsy air and some kind of musk, which takes me completely by surprise.
I’m not sure what I expected him to smell like. Corporate offices and boring files? Freshly ironed shirts and dry-cleaned suit jackets?
Whatever it was, it wasn’t this.

He’s grumpy, boring, and thinks it’s okay to wear a suit and tie to a smalltown bar full of lumberjacks. But when I kiss him? Let’s just say I wasn’t expecting THAT.

Harper Cole

It’s one thing to be dumped by the huge Hollywood star you thought you were going to marry. It’s quite another to move back to the small town you’re both from.

As a booby prize for being shown the door by Dex Ryan, everyone is trying to set me up with their son, their nephew, or their long-lost cousin’s gardener. Either that or they’re throwing me pitying looks that say, “You’re a big loser.”

I’m not going to put up with their patronizing sympathy anymore.

So, when I spot new-guy-in-town Christopher Young, I set out to make him mine. Or you know, pretend to make him mine. I’m still in a horrible funk over Dex, and Christopher is an uptight grump. Not exactly my type.

The fact that despite appearances, he’s gorgeous and doing weird things to my blood pressure doesn’t mean a thing.

Really.

Not. A. Thing.

Christopher Young

Hunter’s Creek, population next to nothing, is the reason I work all the time. I’m solely focused on buying the town’s lumber mill so I can go back to NYC and get my big promotion. This small town is a means to an end. Nothing more.

That is until the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen superglues her lips to mine in an unexpected and very public way. She’s not the kind of woman I usually go for with her boho dress and ankle boots, but that kiss…

I’m disappointed when she comes up for air and tells me it’s all for show. But if Harper Cole wants me to be her fake boyfriend while I’m here in town, who am I to turn her down? Being attached to a local might ingratiate me to the townsfolk and make my job that much the easier.

After all, dating Harper can only be make believe. Nothing more. Not when my entire future is at stake.

Release Day Blitz & Giveaway: For nEver by Aurora Rose Reynolds!

I had no idea that taking a temp job for the summer would send my life into a tailspin, but that’s exactly what happened when I started working for Jace Ellis.
One day I was his secretary and the next I was sitting on his private plane, wearing an obnoxiously large engagement ring, after he asked me if I would pretend to be his fiancé for one week.
I can admit that greed got the best of me. But the money he offered in exchange for my lie would help not only me, but my mom out tremendously.
I just had no idea what I was actually getting myself into.
I didn’t think about the fact that we would be sharing a bed, that we would have to pretend to like each other, and I sure didn’t know that I would be surrounded by his entire family at their annual family reunion.
But if the guy want’s a fiancé, I’m going to be the best one he’ll ever have.
I just hope I can remember that this isn’t forever; it’s for never.
