Paperback edition: 320 pages

Synopsis: The first novel in a sensational new series by New York Times bestselling author, Laurelin Paige. Perfect for fans of E.L. James, Sylvia Day and Meredith Wild.

When Emily Wayborn receives an answerphone message from former best friend Amber, she knows something is seriously wrong. Emily hasn’t spoken to Amber in years, but Amber uses a safe word in her message that Emily recognises – a word that they always used to get out of sticky situations during their wild partying days. She knows Amber needs her help … and then discovers that Amber is missing.

Determined to track her down, Emily follows a chain of clues that lead her to enigmatic billionaire Reeve Sallis. Renowned for his shady dealings and playboy reputation, Emily is convinced that Reeve knows something about Amber’s disappearance. To try and get to the truth, Emily sets out to seduce him. But when she’s forced to decide where her loyalty lies, how will Emily choose between saving Amber and saving her heart?

I received this book from the UK publisher and it was such a surprise when I opened the package! I'd heard a lot about it and I also met this author at the Romance Author and Reader signing in 2014 and she was so nice and friendly! I hadn't read any of her books, but I had seen this book on other book blogs and Facebook a lot and it sounded amazing, so I was excited to read it! I started reading it once I received my copy, and after reading, I had such mixed feelings about it! I'm still not sure whether I loved it or hated it lol! The plot was kinda weird, but oddly enough, kept me wanting to read on! After I read the first few chapters, I wanted to find out what was going to happen next and what was going to happen with the mystery aspect! I thought that I was going to stop reading after the first chapter, but I was completely proven wrong lol! The plot also developed at a good pace and it had some seriously, seriously hot scenes in it! They were mega hot and I loved them! The characters were also amazing, but a little hard for me to connect with at points! Emily was the main character, and she was on a mission in this book to find someone who used to be her best friend! Emily was a really spunky character who knew what to do to get information from someone! She knew whether she had to pay them or act a little sexy towards them lol! She had also been through a lot in her past, but it had made her stronger and more determined! I actually really liked Emily, even though there were a few times that she confused me with the decisions she made! I also had respect for her for her wanting to find her former best friend! Reeve was the main love interest of Emily! I wasn't actually sure what to expect from Reeve when he was first introduced in this book! I mean, I knew he was seriously hot and he had a lot of money, but I wasn't sure if he could be trusted or not! Emily had the same problem lol! Reeve was a strong, demanding type of guy! He was always aware of who he was surrounded by and he had someone for everything! He was also very dominating and very controlling! I wouldn't have been able to let him control me like he did other people and Emily, but Emily wanted to be dominated to a degree, so it was understandable! It wasn't my type of thing though lol! This book was only written from Emily's point of view, but I think that it would have been really interesting if some of the chapters had been written from Reeve's point of view! I would have loved to have gotten inside his head and got to know more about him and his secrets! Even though I wasn't a complete, 100% lover of this book, I'll probably read the next book in the series because I managed to finish this one lol! I'm assuming that the next book is going to continue Emily and Reeve's story, and I'm looing forward to finding out what's going to happen next for them! The cover for this book is stunning! I loved it as soon as I saw it and it suits the dark feel of the book a lot! I love how dark it is! Big thank you to Sphere for a paperback of First Touch for review!
