Hey, guys! It's that time of year again where I share my favourite books of the year! So, here is my list with my top books of 2023! I loved all of these books a lot!
*All books are in no particular order!*
12. You'll Never Know I'm Here by Kiersten Modglin!
Soon, they’ll be caught up in one of their own.
When six book influencers take a weekend getaway to connect with their fellow creators, it’s meant to be a chance to relax, collaborate, and discuss all of the books they love.
But from the start, something’s clearly amiss. From the host’s mysterious absence and an unexpected guest to an odd occurrence in town and the strange and worrisome behavior of the neighbors, what starts out as an innocent and lively vacation quickly becomes a weekend filled with terror. And when one of the group members believes they see something horrifying at the house next door, their carefully laid plans begin to unravel.
Drawn into a mystery that runs far deeper and is more sinister than they could’ve imagined—and surrounded by those who refute their story—the group struggles to unearth the truth about the house and the couple next door before it’s too late.
As new questions and shocking revelations surface, the group must decide if they can trust each other—not only with their safety in the house, but with their lives entirely.
Readers’ worst nightmares come to life in this terrifying new thriller that tests the limits of friendship, explores the power of social media influence, digs into the depths of trust, and examines the desperate and dangerous lengths of obsession from million-copy bestselling author, Kiersten Modglin.

It's a lonely life. A dangerous life.
And my food supplies are running low.
I've lived in the city for a decade, long before the pandemic took everything from us, but it’s time to leave and search for a rural property with room for vegetable gardens and fruit trees, and space to invite others to join—if I can find more people like me who've hung onto old-world values in a new world where there are no systems or rules.
The problem? Haruto's unwell and unfit for travel, and it's too dangerous to spend long stretches of time outside. It's not just the dead with their vacant eyes and hungry mouths that I need to worry about. It's other humans, too.
There's a gang roaming the city; they're violent and unpredictable, and they intimidate me enough that I try to make myself invisible whenever I leave my apartment.
There's another man lurking around, too. He's been staying in the building opposite mine, and I've spent the past week tracking his movements. Although I've kept my distance from him so far, just being around him makes me feel safer outside and less lonely.
It's risky approaching other humans now, but Haruto isn't getting any better, and soon enough I'll be alone—completely alone for the first time in my life.
And I'm reaching the point now where desperation is pushing me to risk it all and bear the consequences.
10. Last Light by Claire Kent!
Now the last member of my family has died, and I'm forced to travel across what's left of three states to find the only people I know left alive. To survive, I'll have to salvage food and supplies and try to avoid violent men who've learned they can take what they want by force. The only way I'm going to make it is by trusting Travis.
Travis used to fix my car, and now he's all I have left in the world. He's gruff and stoic and unfriendly, and I don't really know or like him. But he's all I have left. He'll keep me safe. We'll take care of each other. Until we reach what's left of our town and can finally let go of one another.

2. Heartsong Duet by Jennifer Hartmann!
Synopsis for book one!
There once was a girl with fireflies in her eyes and music in her soul.
(Remember her... she's important.)
She's the reason I panic-bought the little brick house on Maple Street; the one I lived next door to for eight magical years. Now that I'm back digging up floorboards and lost journals, I can’t stop thinking about the two people who grew up here.
You see, that girl was my best friend, and this house was once hers. She also had a big brother who was my everything before circumstance turned us into nothing more than memories.
That’s why I applied for a job at his auto shop—unprepared to discover that my new boss, Cal Bishop, is now gruff, built, and covered in tattoos.
I'm the sun to his overcast sky. The smile to his surly solitude.
A reminder of everything he longs to forget.
But my heart has a secret, and we’re running out of time to fix our torn pages.
Maybe the same girl who used to be the glue still holds the key to putting our pieces back together.
(See? I told you she was important.)
Toodles,
Lucy
