Review: Finale [Hush, Hush 04] by Becca Fitzpatrick!

Publication date: 23rd October 2012
Paperback edition: 464 pages
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Nora is more certain than ever that she is in love with Patch. Fallen angel or no, he is the one for her. Her heritage and destiny may mean they are fated to be enemies, but there is no turning her back on him. Now Nora and Patch must gather their strength to face one last, perilous trial. Old enemies return, new enemies are made, and a friend's ultimate betrayal threatens the peace Patch and Nora so desperately want. The battle lines are drawn—but which sides are they on? And in the end, are there some obstacles even love can't conquer?

I was pretty blown away with this book! After finding Silence a bit confusing I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy Finale anywhere near as much as I did! I absolutely loved the plot! I was expecting not to like it because I had my own ideas of where it was going to go after the ending of Silence but I was thoroughly impressed when I could follow it and it was full of action scenes! It was also really fast paced which didn't make me lose interest! The characters have just gotten better as this series has continued and in Finale we see Nora go from scared to brave which was amazing to see and also how she stepped up to her role as the leader of the Nephilim army! Patch was of course still dreamy and he was still so protective of Nora! The ending was perfect and it was such a nice way to end this amazing series! I am really sad to see this series come to an end as I fell in love with it way back in 2008! All the covers for this series have been absolutely stunning and the cover for Finale is no exception! It is beautiful!

Review: Inbetween [Kissed by Death 01] by Tara A. Fuller!

Publication date: 28th August 2012
Paperback edition: 400 pages
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Since the car crash that took her father’s life three years ago, Emma’s life has been a freaky — and unending — lesson in caution. Surviving “accidents” has taken priority over being a normal seventeen-year-old, so Emma spends her days taking pictures of life instead of living it. Falling in love with a boy was never part of the plan. Falling for a reaper who makes her chest ache and her head spin? Not an option.

It’s not easy being dead, especially for a reaper in love with a girl fate has put on his list not once, but twice. Finn’s fellow reapers give him hell about spending time with Emma, but Finn couldn’t let her die before, and he’s not about to let her die now. He will protect the girl he loves from the evil he accidentally unleashed, even if it means sacrificing the only thing he has left…his soul.

Favourite quote: "Before you, there was only dark. You lit up my whole world, like the sun bursting through the clouds on a stormy day."

I was really looking forward to reading this book and it was so good compared to what I was expecting! The plot was quite original and I was keen to keep reading on and finding out what would happen next! It was fast paced which made me not lose interest at any point while reading it! There were also so many action scenes in this book which left me on the edge of my seat! Emma was one of the main characters and it did take me a while to really connect with her but I did quite quickly which was a good thing! Finn was another main character and he was SO protective of Emma and he was willing to do anything for her which was so sweet to read! Inbetween was told from Emma and Finn's point of views and I didn't really think that I would enjoy the story from both of their point of views but I have to be honest and say that it made this book even better! I am really looking forward to finding out what happens in the next book in this series! The cover also suits this book so well and I love it!

Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Eighteen year old Harper has grown up under her career Marine of a father's thumb. Ready to live life her own way and experience things she's only ever heard of from the jarheads in her father's unit; she's on her way to college at San Diego State University.

She finds herself being torn in two as she quickly falls in love with her boyfriend Brandon, and her roommate's brother Chase. Covered in tattoos, known for fighting in the Underground and ridiculously muscled...they're exactly what she was always warned to stay away from, but just what she needs. Despite their dangerous looks and histories, both adore and would do anything for Harper, including stepping back if it means she's happy.

Her first year away is turning out to be near perfect, but one weekend of giving in to heated passion will change everything.

Favourite quote: “That first night, I did realize I would never meet another girl like you. But you deserve someone who has waited for you as long as you have waited for them. And no matter how much I wish I could be that guy, I can't Harper.”

WOW! Is the first thing I should say about this book! It was an emotional rollercoaster and not just for the characters! I felt myself going from annoyed to crying in about 6 pages during this book! The plot was beautiful but so sad! There were quite a few surprises with the plot that I wasn't expecting at all and I felt that it developed a lot! The characters were well written and there were loads of them! The main character, Harper really annoyed me at the start of this book! She continued to annoy me throughout the book as well and then when she started to grow on me she would make a really stupid choice or decision! As you can tell from the synopsis there is a love triangle in this book and it is between Harper, Brendan and Chase! I was Team Chase all the way through this book but a devastating accident ended this love triangle and left me in tears! I liked Brendan as well but I preferred Chase! The secondary characters in this book brought so much to it and the plot! They were also well written! I also love the cover as it suits the book beautifully!

When her newly remarried mother moves the family to Paragon Island, to a house that is rumored to be haunted, Skyla finds refuge in Logan Oliver, a boy who shares her unique ability to read minds.

Skyla’s bloodlines may just be connected to the most powerful angelic beings that roam the earth, and the more she knows, the more danger she seems to be in.

Suddenly an entire faction of earthbound angels wants her dead, at least she still has Logan, or does she?

Favourite quote: “Falling in love is a lot like death. It chooses you. It decides the moment and the chain of events that will preclude the precise intersection of life in which it occurs. It uses you—treats you as though you were malleable in its warm pliable hands. It doesn’t bother to ask if you want it, or need it, just fills the gaping hole of destiny’s design”

I actually read this book as part of a book club that I am in and it was actually really good! I wasn't really expecting to like this book as much as I did as when I started reading I didn't really like Skyla but she did grow on me very quickly! The rest of the characters were very likable and I really enjoyed them! There was a love triangle in this book and I can actually say that I did enjoy this one! The love triangle was between Skyla, Logan and Logan's cousin Gage! I really loved the plot as it was really interesting and I thought that it was a great twist on angels! Do not let the word angel deter you from this book as it was really good and it was quite different to a lot of other angel books the are out right now! I have to say though that I felt that sometimes the story fell a bit short at times and I would lose interest but then something would happen that would make me not be able to put the book down! I really like the cover and I cannot wait to read the rest of this series! Ethereal is also free on Amazon right now!

*SPOLIERS READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!*

The Lost Prince is such a hard book to write a review for without giving away big spoilers! This book was an action-packed adventure and I got seriously excited when a character from a previous series came into it! The Lost Prince is Ethan Chases story and It actually took me a while to get into it as I personally thought that it went a bit slow at the start but as soon as Ethan and Kenzie entered Nevernever I was hooked! Mackenzie St. James is Ethan's love interest in this book and the first word that came to mind for her was persistent. I almost cried when we found out her story and I felt so sorry for her and Ethan as he had started to fall in love with her. Ethan does Kali which I had never heard of until I read about it in The Lost Prince and I think Julie does an amazing job of explaining it to a reader who has no idea what it is. The threat in this book is a good one as well. I really liked Keirran and I also loved who he really was! I couldn't believe it when a certain character came into the story as well as I really liked them in The Iron Fey Series and it was good to see them again. Todd was such a good friend to Ethan and I felt so sorry for him when he was taking. I really liked Annwyl and I thought that her and Keirran were such a cute couple. I found that the glamour-eaters were scary and such an original idea! I would have liked more scenes with some old characters in this book but I was so happy that they were in there so I can't really complain! We also spent a lot of time with a certain animal! *wink wink* The ending was action packed and paced perfectly! The Lost Prince is another hit from Julie Kagawa and it is a must read for fans of The Iron Fey Series! Big thank you to Harlequin and Netgalley for the ARC!

I will be honest and admit that I wasn't really expecting this book to have a supernatural element to it at all so it came as a bit of a surprise to me when it had such an original supernatural element! I have to say though that I really enjoyed this book for its plot and characters! I thought that the plot was very well written and it dealt with my issues which was good! It also had quite a few action scenes which were very good and it also was very fast paced which held my interest all the way through! Alli was the main character of Flight and I really liked her but I have to be honest and say that she did annoy me at several points during this book but she did grow on my pretty quickly! Levi was the love interest of Alli and I liked him as he was protective of Alli but he he did lie to her several times which annoyed me as he should have been straight with her! I was quite looking forward to reading this book after I had read the synopsis but I feel that it didn't really live up to my expectations of it! The plot was pretty original and it had been researched amazingly! I loved the characters as well! Jordan Woods was such a tomboy which I loved as she was just so laid back and such a good friend to all of her team! Tyler "Ty" Green was one of the the love interests of Jordan and it was quite amazing to see Jordan feel outside of her comfort zone with Ty. Ty was quite possessive of Jordan which I didn't like! There was a love triangle in this book but it didn't really develop a lot until near the end! There was a love triangle in this book between Morgan, Chase and Nolan but it is not the main focus of the book and it doesn't continue throughout the full book which I liked! Bullying...

Okay so as October is Bullying Awareness month I thought that I would make a post on it! After seeing a very emotional video and reading someone who is very close to me story I thought that a post on my views on bullying would be appropriate.

Bullying affects everyone! Male, female, old, young. I have seen bullying firsthand like a lot of other people have and it is one of the worst things that I have ever seen. Even a simple push or hit is classified as bullying! It comes in many forms, some worse than others but they all have the exact same effect. Different forms include physical, verbal, emotional, sexual and racial. Bullying can scar someone for life, physically and/or mentally. It can leave someone feeling vulnerable and alone. No-one should ever feel like this! It can make someone feel like committing suicide or start cutting themselves and that is wrong on so many levels! Bullying can also make people lose their self esteem which can lead to many health issues like anorexia or obesity. Many people feel like they cannot escape from their tormentors but help is everywhere! You could go to a parent, a teacher, your brother or sister or even just a friend!

Cyberbullying: I feel like I have to address this one separately as it seems to be the most common these days. This is how Wikipedia explains it "Cyberbullying is the use of the Internet and related technologies to harm other people, in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner." I feel that this one is the one that affects most people as we all have Facebook and Twitters and it is so easy to bully someone through a computer but not to their face. It still has the exact same effect as say physical bullying but in some cases it has an even worse effect and can result in suicides. Why do we continue to let this happen?

I have been bullied but this post is not about me, it is about all the other people out there who have been or are being bullied. I think that you are all amazing and amazingly strong! I have had close friends of mine bullied and I have went through it! My heart goes out to whoever has been bullied and I feel like I have gotten to know some amazing people through my experience of being bullied! I could say many things about bullies but I won't! All I will say about them is that they are cowards! I can't do much to help prevent bullying but by taking the pledge and making this post, I hope that I help people, even just one person, then I know that I have achieved something truly amazing!

Sparring Stepsisters has done an amazing thing for Bullying Awareness month! They have started a pledge to stop bullying for authors, bloggers and bookaholics! I personally thank you Sparring Stepsisters for this amazing step! Down below there is a link to their blog and on it you can take the pledge to help stop bullying! Help start a revolution by joining in! Together we will beat bullying!

As I finish my post I leave you all with the burning question: Do you tolerate bullying?

Waiting on Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill!

Every Wednesday I will post a book which I cannot wait to be released and it is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Meant to Be
By Lauren Morrill
Paperback edition: 256 pages
To be released: 13th November 2012
Synopsis: Meant to be or not meant to be . . . that is the question.

It's one thing to fall head over heels into a puddle of hazelnut coffee, and quite another to fall for the—gasp—wrong guy. Straight-A junior Julia may be accident prone, but she's queen of following rules and being prepared. That's why she keeps a pencil sharpener in her purse and a pocket Shakespeare in her, well, pocket. And that's also why she's chosen Mark Bixford, her childhood crush, as her MTB ("meant to be").

But this spring break, Julia's rules are about to get defenestrated (SAT word: to be thrown from a window) when she's partnered with her personal nemesis, class-clown Jason, on a school trip to London. After one wild party, Julia starts receiving romantic texts . . . from an unknown number! Jason promises to help discover the identity of her mysterious new suitor if she agrees to break a few rules along the way. And thus begins a wild goose chase through London, leading Julia closer and closer to the biggest surprise of all: true love.

Because sometimes the things you least expect are the most meant to be.

I was really looking forward to reading Ceaseless after the massive cliffhanger at the end of Predestined and it was so worth the wait! It actually blew my mind! I fell in love with the characters even more and it felt like I was reading the first book in this series again as they had changed that much! I thought that the plot was well thought out and fast-paced which definitely suited the story and it held my attention all the way through! Pagan Moore had changed so much since the beginning of Existence and I have to say that I loved watching her changes happen! She was so brave and so nice! Dank Walker had also changed a lot as well! He was still as protective of Pagan in Ceaseless and of course he was hot but I felt like I got to know him a lot better in this book than the last two! I also loved how it was written from Pagan and Dank's point of views again like in Predestined! The ending was so unexpected but so good! I actually didn't see it coming which was amazing! The cover is definitely my favourite of this series!
