Review: Clash [Crash 02] by Nicole Williams!

Publication date: 1st September 2012
Paperback edition: 216 pages
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Southpointe High is the last place Lucy wanted to wind up her senior year of school. Right up until she stumbles into Jude Ryder, a guy whose name has become its own verb, and synonymous with trouble. He's got a rap sheet that runs longer than a senior thesis, has had his name sighed, shouted, and cursed by more women than Lucy dares to ask, and lives at the local boys home where disturbed seems to be the status quo for the residents. Lucy had a stable at best, quirky at worst, upbringing. She lives for wearing the satin down on her ballet shoes, has her sights set on Juilliard, and has been careful to keep trouble out of her life. Up until now.

Jude's everything she knows she needs to stay away from if she wants to separate her past from her future. Staying away, she's about to find out, is the only thing she's incapable of.

For Lucy Larson and Jude Ryder, love's about to become the thing that tears them apart. - goodreads.com

Favourite quote: "Jude wasn’t just my first love. He was my forever love."

I was so happy when I found out that there was going to be another book in this series as I really wanted more Jude and Lucy! After reading Crash and falling in love with the characters I was expecting big things from Clash and big things is exactly what I got! My emotions were all over the place with this book and my heart went out to Jude and Luce! The plot was a roller coaster and Lucy and Jude's relationship gets described as this throughout the book and this is exactly I would call their relationship! I actually felt myself tearing up at some points in this book as it was that emotional! I loved Lucy Larsen even more in this book after I thought that she was a bit self-centered in Crash but she was completely different in this book! Jude Ryder was just as protective and as sexy as he was in Crash! I loved Lucy and Jude's relationship development and they are honestly one of my favourite book couples! The ending was absolutely beautiful and I fell in love with this entire book! I am also in love with the cover!

Interview with Ally Thomas!

Hey Ally! Thank you so much for spending time with us!

For the readers out there that haven't read your series could you tell us a quick bit about it?

Sure. The description I wrote for the first part of my series, The Vampire from Hell sums it up best. Rayea is the oldest daughter of Satan and she feels the origin of vampires started in Hell, and it started with her. Rayea isn't daddy's little girl, even if he is the most powerful fallen angel around. He wants her to take an active role in the family business. But she's not interested in his schemes for world domination. Instead she wants to spend her time shopping on the Internet, rescuing humans from a horrific eternity, and practicing martial arts with her seven foot hellhound. Then one day everything changes. She's turned into a vampire by her father.

I absolutly love The Vampire from Hell Series! Are you surprised by the response you have had for it?

It’s been great to see that a lot of people, from all ages, like this series. I’ve been blown away by the response actually.

What inspired you to write The Vampire from Hell Series?

After reading vampire fiction for many years, I grew tired of the same themes and plots. That’s when I decided to write my own paranormal book. I thought what if Satan turned one of his daughters into a vampire in Hell? And what if she was a fan of mankind, not interested in his quest for world domination? What would she be like? Meet Rayea, the Vampire from Hell. Oddly enough this idea hit me when I bought a t-shirt at Wal-Mart. It had the phrase "Zombie Vampires from Hell" on it so that turned into "The Vampire from Hell."

Are you currently writing a new book? If you are could you maybe tell us a little bit about that book please!

Yes, I am. I’m currently working on Part 4 that will be out around Halloween this year. It’s called "The Vampire from Hell Returns (Part 4)" and the description I wrote for it is as follows: "Blood of the gods has brought a new dimension to Rayea’s life as the vampire from Hell. As she juggles her new responsibilities and starting a relationship with her best friend, Blick, Rayea realizes her sordid past with her family may be catching up with her. When two of her friends go missing, she knows she must begin a search to find them. And the first place she has to look? Hell."

Do you have a Favorite Quote from The Vampire from Hell series?

In Part 1, Rayea's comment to her sister, Stephanie. "Even in Hell, we need to keep our sense of humor, sis."

What would you say is your favorite thing about being an author?

Hearing from my readers.

What has been your toughest criticism and best compliment given to you as an author?

I’m learning from some of the reviews I get, especially for Part 1 since it’s the freebie that this series is really a "Love or Hate" situation. Some readers LOVE it while others don’t. I find that really interesting and thankfully I’m lucky that I have more LOVE reviews than the hate ones.

Best compliment given to me as an author would be the tags I received early last year for Part 1 on Amazon. Before I understood the tagging process, I had people tell me that they could go to www.amazon.com and type in ‘vampire’ and my books would come up in the list. Someone who read and liked my books did that for me. Typically the author can go in after their book is published and add tags to their book. I didn’t know to do that at the time. I will have to say however that on Amazon.uk my books don’t come up first in the list.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in writing?

When I started writing last January, I always thought ideas would be tough for me to think of. I thought I’d run out of ideas at some point. Luckily that has not been the case. Oddly enough my challenge has been literally finding the time to write. I currently work full-time so I have to wake up around 2 or 3 in the morning to write before I go to work. I carry my iPhone with me and email notes to myself if I think of an idea or phrase of dialogue. My email is cramped full of emails I have to sift through to see if it is something I’ll add to the new story. It’s an odd system, but so far it works for me. I look forward to a day when I can write primarily vampire fiction instead of online training.

Is there anything you'd like to say to your fans/readers?

I have the best fans in the world I think :) A lot of people have taken the time to contact me and express what reading my current series, the Vampire from Hell means to them. Their emails, posts to my Facebook wall, comments on my blog, and tweets put the wind in my sails to forge ahead as I continue to juggle working by day and writing at night. It makes waking up at 2 am to write easier, knowing someone is out there waiting to find out what Rayea will be doing next. As always, I write for them and I thank them for reading my books!

Here's the first part of her story about how it all began.
A Vampire Among Angels - Living a life with an overbearing father can be a challenge. For Rayea whose father is the fallen angel, Lucifer, it's been torture. In the second installment of the Vampire from Hell series, Rayea finds peace when she visits the House of G. There she hopes for a new beginning among Blick's angelic friends, only to discover a vampire from Hell may not be welcome.
A Vampire on VacationIn the third part of the Vampire from Hell series, Rayea travels to Earth hoping to meet her online friends, leave her disturbing past with her father behind her, and embark on a new future without her meddling family.

I was asked by the author to write a review so I received all three of The Vampire from Hell books in the same one and I am so happy I did! These books were so great and they packed a real punch! They also just got better and better as the series continued! I really enjoyed them and I think that they were a great twist on the supernatural and that the plots of this series also just got better that by the second book I was hooked! Rayea was such a strong main character and I loved her! I thought that her father and her sister, Stephanie were horrible to her! Blick was so cute and I absolutely adored him and also how protective he was of Rayea! He was also such a great friend! Michael was another great character and I loved his relationship with Rayea! I definitely loved how protective Michael and Blick were of Rayea! I wasn't expecting who Rayea was going to pick to have a romantic relationship with but I loved it! There were a lot of secondary characters in these books and most of them were amazing characters! All these books continued straight on from each other which I loved since I had all three of them but now I need to wait until next month to get the fourth part of this series and I cannot wait to read it! I also like the cover!

Summary: The day Preston Drake figured out that wealthy women paid well for a set of tight abs and a pretty face his life turned around.

The run down rat-infested trailer he had shared with his alcoholic mother and three younger siblings was now only a place he visited to pay the bills and stock the pantry with food.

He no longer worried about his family starving or living without electricity. The money he made entertaining rich older women more than covered his family’s needs and his own. He had it all figured out. Except…

There was this girl.

She was as innocent as he was tainted.

Amanda Hardy wished her knees didn’t get weak when Preston walked into a room. She hated the fact her heart raced when he flashed his smile in her direction. He had a different girl in his bed every night. He was the kind of boy a smart girl ran from. So, why was she coming up with ways to get close to him? Even when it was obvious he wanted to keep her at a distance.

Maybe her heart knew something the world didn’t. Maybe Preston Drake was more than just a pretty face.

Hi Jennifer! Thank you so much for taking some time out of your busy schedule to talk to me!

You have sooooooo many books/series/works going on at one time. How do you do it (i.e. what's your average day/writing schedule like)?

Most of the days start off with me checking email or answering tweets/comments or other general forms of procrastination. Typically I write for about 10 hours a day, some days it's less or more.

Are you planning on doing any signings outside of the USA in the future? (please say yes!)

I'd love to do signings overseas and I'm sure at some point, I will.

What book are you currently writing and could you maybe tell us a little bit about that book please.

I just finished about a YA book for my agent and I'm finishing up an adult book. Then I'm going to start writing the 4th Lux book.

Who do you think would suit the roles for Katy and Daemon if the Lux Series was made into a movie?

I'm terrible with that kind of stuff. Hopefully if there is a movie, they'll find actors that fit the roles.

Is there anything that you would like to say to your fans? (me included!)

I hope you guys continue to enjoy the books!

Paperback edition: 312 pages
Source: Hardback
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Dying sucks-- and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows.

Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things--including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he's a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she's more than interested. There's just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden's adopted father, a man she's sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out.

However, she's willing to do anything to hold her sister's hand again. And hell, she'd also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn't? But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not have been an accident at all, she's not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time

Favourite quote: "Yes," he said seriously. "Your lips, your cheeks, your eyes...I find everything abou you beautiful.Your strength, the way you care for your sister..." His gaze dropped, and I shivered I admire your control. Your willpower. Everything. I wouldn't change a thing about you."

You have done it again Jennifer! Congratulations! Cursed is ANOTHER hit by the awesome Jennifer L. Armentrout! I loved it! This book was so unique and so different to any of Jennifer's other books that it took me a while to get into it but when I did I could not put it down! Jennifer is known for her amazing romances and the one in this book is just plain steamy! Ember McWilliams is the main character in Cursed and I really liked her! I thought she was troubled and trying her best to help everyone instead of herself! You could also see the love between her and her sister, Olivia which was amazing! Ember had also been through so much in her life and she still put a smile on her face! Hayden Cromwell was the love interest of Ember and he was hot and swoon worthy! I liked that Ember and Hayden's relationship developed slowly and then progressed and I though that they were an amazing couple! The secondary characters in this book were very well written and there were enough of them to keep you guessing who the mystery person was! The plot to Cursed was so amazing and it held my interest the whole way through! I also hope that this book turns into a series as I could definitely use more Ember and Hayden! The cover is also beautiful!

Review: Helena Zane: Sacred Angels by Shanora Williams!

Publication date: 4th September 2012
Paperback edition: 349 pages
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Being a normal angel of the Middle-Earth was never Helena Zane’s calling and when she meets two completely different men that have the same upbringing, she figures out why. She discovers that she was created by Athena to protect her people. To the normal angels, she is considered a Sacred Angel-- a warrior. An angel that fights to protect and patrol the city of Athens from Hades who snatches away the souls of the mortals just to gain more power. But after training and going through countless battles with creatures from the Underworld, she becomes torn between the two gorgeous lovers that will do anything just to gain her heart. If she gives up on defeating Hades because of her hurting heart, all of mankind may be destroyed. But continuing her love triangle and going through with the battle will only cause her heart to rip and shatter. The safety of the world lies within her hands; the hearts of her lovers dwells in her very palms. And she is the only one that can stop all hell from breaking loose.

I was torn between 4 stars and 5 stars for this book but I decided to give it 5 stars! I was asked by the author to write a review for this book and I have to say that this book was worth the read but at times it did get a bit confusing! Sometimes it was hard to figure out who was actually speaking and I would actually have to re-read a page but that was the only problem I had with this book! I liked the different point of views as it told you what was going to happen next which made me want to read on! The plot of this book was interesting and I actually enjoyed it! There were also a lot of action scenes in this book and they were very well written and they were full of suspense! The characters in this book were very well written and I really enjoyed them as well! I really liked the main character, Helena Zane but I think that she was portrayed as a teenager when she was an adult. I really liked Helena's love interests, Arion Helios and Levi and I thought that the love triangle was well written and I did enjoy it! There were also a lot of secondary characters and they were also very well written! The ending was really good and I will definitely read the next book in this series! The cover for this book is absolutely stunning and I hope the next book's cover can live up to this one!

Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Deadly Little Secret - Until three months ago, everything about sixteen-year-old Camelia's life had been fairly ordinary: decent grades; an okay relationship with her parents; and a pretty cool part-time job at an art studio downtown. But when Ben, the mysterious new guy, starts junior year at her high school, Camelia's life becomes far from ordinary.

Rumored to be somehow responsible for his ex-girlfriend's accidental death, Ben is immediately ostracized by everyone on campus. Except for Camelia. She's reluctant to believe he's trouble, even when her friends try to convince her otherwise. Instead she's inexplicably drawn to Ben...and to his touch. But soon, Camelia is receiving eerie phone calls and strange packages with threatening notes. Ben insists she is in danger, and that he can help – but can he be trusted? She knows he's hiding something...but he's not the only one with a secret.

Deadly Little Lies - Last fall, sixteen-year-old Camelia fell for Ben, a new boy at school who had a very mysterious gift – psychometry, the ability to sense the future through touch. But just as Camelia and Ben's romance began to heat up, he abruptly left town. Brokenhearted, Camelia has spent the last few months studying everything she can about psychometry and experiencing strange brushes with premonition. Camelia wonders if Ben's abilities have somehow been transferred to her.

Ben returns to school, but he remains aloof, and Camelia can't get close enough to share her secret with him. Camelia makes the painful decision to let him go and move on. Adam, the hot new guy at Knead, seems good for her in ways Ben wasn't. But when Camelia and Adam start dating, a surprising love triangle results. A chilling sequence of events uncovers secrets from Ben’s past – and Adam's. Someone is lying, and it's up to Camelia to figure out who – before it's too late

Deadly Little Games - High school juniors Camelia and Ben have discovered a powerful bond: They both possess the power of psychometry, the ability to see the future through touch. For Ben, the gift is a frightening liability. When he senses a strong threat or betrayal, he risks losing control. Camelia's gift is more mysterious. When she works with clay, her hands sculpt messages her mind doesn't yet comprehend.
Before either one has a chance to fully grasp their abilities, a new danger surfaces, but this time, Camelia is not the target. Adam, a familiar face from Ben's past, is drawn into a puzzle he can't solve...and his life is on the line. As the clues pile up, Camelia must decide whether to help him and risk losing Ben or do nothing and suffer the consequences. But in these games, who can be trusted?

Deadly Little Voices - High school junior Camelia thought her powers of psychometry only gave her the ability to sense the future through touch. But now she’s started to hear voices. Mean voices. Berating her, telling her how ugly she is, and that she’d be better off dead. It’s a troubling development that has Camelia terrified for her mental stability, especially since her deranged aunt with a suicidal history just moved into the family house. More torturing, ex-boyfriend Ben, who has similar psychometric abilities, has been spending more time with their classmate Alejandra, even as her own feelings for Adam grow stronger. Still, the bond between Camelia and Ben is palpable.

With the line between right and wrong fraying, Camelia turns to pottery to get a grasp on her emotions. She begins sculpting a beautiful figure skater, only to receive frightening premonitions that someone’s in danger. But who is the victim? And how can Camelia help them when she is on the brink of losing her own sanity?

I LOVED these books! They were amazing and so original! I loved the writing style and the characters so much! Each book made me love this series even more and I could not stop reading them until I had finished them! Camelia Hammond is the main character of the Touch series and I liked her so much! She goes through so much in this series and I felt so sorry for her but she stays so strong even after she has been through so much! Ben is the main love interest of Camelia and I really liked him! I also thought that his ability was actually really cool and I loved finding out more about it! Adam is also a love interest of Camelia which creates a love triangle! I liked this love triangle but I will always be Team Ben! I thought that Adam was really sneaky when he is first introduced in Deadly Little Lies but I did start to like him as the series continued! I also adored Camilia's best friends Wes and Kimmie! They were so funny and such great friends to Camilia! My favourite book of this series so far is Deadly Little Voices but I did love the plot to Deadly Little Secret and I don't actually have a book that I didn't really enjoy as they have all been so amazing! I cannot wait until the next book in this series called Deadly Little Lessons! I also absolutely adore the covers for this series!
