Release Day Blitz: Hades' Revenge [Morally Gray Gods 01] by Ella Jade!

When a vicious assassin is banished from the only life he’s ever known, he starts over only to be tempted by the goddaughter he hasn’t seen in almost twenty years.

Hades

Vindictive, malicious, some would even say sadistic…

I couldn’t argue with any of those assessments. We are who we are. I’m a vengeful assassin who will stop at nothing to make those who wronged me pay. And I’m thirsty for revenge.

Eighteen years ago, I took the fall for a man who was like a brother to me. I even vowed to protect his daughter by becoming her godfather— and then he betrayed me.

Two decades later, his daughter, now a stunning woman, strolls into my life, having no idea who I am or what I’m capable of. Capri takes an unhealthy interest in me, the older and dangerous man, and I don’t do anything to discourage her. I welcome her obsession because it suits me.

When her infatuation with me grows stronger, I prove just how vindictive, malicious, and sadistic I really am. Is she the opportunity I need to enact my revenge against her father or is she the reason I finally let this vendetta go?

Book Blitz & Giveaway: When Frost Was Spectre Grey by Nicola Italia!

Excerpt!

Just then, Lewin entered the room in a stately manner.
   “Doctor Ottowell Blackwood.”
A collective hush fell over the group and Imogene noticed Sibylla’s face drained of all color.
   “Dear God,” she whispered.
For the first time since being at the Grange, Sibylla looked up and locked eyes with Randolph. Imogene saw Randolph look at Sibylla, then turn his narrowed eyes on Monty. It was an accusatory look as if he had not told them about this final guest that no one was pleased to see.
Monty stood, brushing at his dinner jacket, and moved forward to greet his guest.
“How are you, old chap?” They shook hands. “Last to arrive I see. With the storm so heavily upon us, we didn’t think you’d make it.”
“Hello, Monty,” Ottowell said, all charm. “I came in early. I was staying at the Inn. Almost didn’t make it here. Damned driver didn’t want to bring me, but money talks, eh?”
The footman came by and Ottowell took a glass of champagne.
“I think you know everyone here except Miss York,” Monty said. Playing the host, he introduced them.
Ottowell nodded to Imogene as the introduction was made and then walked over to Juliana. “Lady Meare now, isn’t it?”
“It is. How good to see you, Otto.” A smile was fixed on her face but Imogene got the distinct impression the woman was not pleased to see him.
Imogene took in the room of assembled people and felt the immediate shift in the air. She couldn’t explain it and the emotion eluded her, but something had changed. Surely the doctor was just another guest for the reading of the will. Another legacy that Alaric had bestowed. Then why did everyone seem so strained?
She glanced over at Godfrey, who was looking into the fire completely disconnected from the group. As the solicitor of the estate, he must have known Ottowell Blackwood would be coming but he didn’t appear pleased to see him in the flesh. As she glanced at the others, they seemed even less than thrilled at his arrival.
As she glanced over at Sibylla, her expression was awful. Her hand was trembling as she held the glass of champagne while her face was stark white. Without realizing it, Sibylla dropped her glass of champagne onto the carpet.
“I’m terribly sorry,” she said. “Forgive me, I must—” and then without saying another word she left.
The reverend had a shocked look on his face as he stared at the new guest, which was then replaced with a wariness she had not seen before. He watched Ottowell cautiously almost as if waiting for him to pounce.
“Ah, Clarence,” Blackwood approached him. “The old village vicar. Still preaching the fire and brimstone?”
   “Yes,” was his only response.
Imogene noticed the reverend’s eyes darting around the room, as if looking to the others for guidance. Seeing none, he focused on the floor and didn’t engage with Ottowell.
But when Imogene looked at Randolph, there was no denying that emotion. It was pure hatred. His jaw was clenched and his right hand was balled up into a fist. Blackwood knew better than to taunt him and the two men said nothing to one another.
“Decent of you to send the letter, Jewels.” He returned to Juliana’s side. “I was thinking on the journey here, what on earth will I spend my legacy on?”
“A new soul?” Randolph said in an icy voice.
Juliana’s laughter trickled out. “Rolf, behave yourself. We’re all friends here.”
“Are we?” Randolph said as his eyes remained fixated on Ottowell.
“Certainly we are,” she chided him. “We all go back so long ago, don’t we?”
“Unfortunately, yes,” the reverend mumbled mostly to himself.
“Don’t make me remove the liquor,” Juliana said lightly. “Everyone behave themselves.”
Imogene was watching the faces of them all and she caught Randolph looking back at her. She remembered what he had said to her in the billiard room and she had denied it then. But she was most definitely watching them now. She took a long assessing look at Ottowell Blackwood and saw nothing strange.
He was dressed impeccably in a dark suit and his handlebar mustache was sharp and distinct. He appeared to be a self-made man who would be friends with the lord and lady of the Grange. He joked with Juliana and made snide remarks to the reverend, so why did she get the sense that he was not at all welcome?
“Godfrey! How is the firm? Good?” Ottowell asked, moving to speak to the solicitor.
She saw Randolph move quickly to Monty’s side.
“You should have told us,” he said lowly. “Makes me wonder why you kept it from us.”
“Why? I need your permission?” Monty returned. “He’s in the will. He has to be here. Just like all of us.”
“Right,” Randolph said, giving Monty a long, hard look.
Randolph excused himself and Imogene saw the reverend stand suddenly. He took the flask out from his pocket and raised it in front of everyone to see. He held it up to Ottowell and stopped. Imogene felt afraid for the man. Whatever was happening to him, he appeared to be unraveling before their eyes.
“To you, Blackwood.” He took a long swig and then placed it back in his coat pocket. “Welcome home.”

Yorkshire, 1881. Imogene York has one job: authenticate a dead man’s signature and witness the reading of his will. It should take an afternoon.

But the moment she arrives at Trelawney Grange, she can tell the people gathered to hear Lord Alaric Trelawney’s final wishes aren’t waiting on an inheritance. They’re waiting on something they’ve spent fifteen years hoping would stay buried.

Every person in that house-the doctor, the solicitor, the reverend, the aristocrat, the household staff who move through it like they were never there at all-is bound together by a secret from one terrible summer years before, and no one will say what it is. As the snow closes in and the will’s true purpose comes to light, Imogene realizes she wasn’t hired to verify a signature. She was hired to witness a reckoning fifteen years in the making, and there is no walking away from the past.

A gripping Victorian mystery about the debts the past never stops collecting, and the lengths people will go to keep a secret buried or to finally bring it to light.

Book Blitz & Giveaway: All That Remains by Samantha Grosser!

Excerpt!

Ben sat in the back of the car, but instead of sinking into the sumptuous leather upholstery as most people did, he leaned forward on the very edge of the seat, elbows resting on his knees so that he was almost between them in the front. Eva couldn’t shake off the awareness of him so close at her shoulder as she swung the car along the lanes, the hedgerows and verges flittering past in flashes of daisy-white and cornflower blue.
‘Why aren’t you in France?’ Alex turned to face her, eyes narrowed in question.
Eva slid him a glance and the car swerved slightly, wheels catching on a patch of gravel as she took her eyes off the road.
‘For God’s sake, Ev!’ Alex scolded, but she knew he didn’t really mind. His own driving was almost as reckless as hers. ‘Watch where you’re going! Perhaps I should drive.’
Tightening her grip on the wheel, she gave her head an emphatic shake and focused her gaze on the road.
‘I’m in disgrace,’ she said, without taking her eyes from the lane in front of them.
‘What did you do this time?’ There was no condemnation in Alex’s tone, just a genuine curiosity, and she breathed a sigh of relief. She had been afraid of more judgement.
   ‘Apparently, I behaved atrociously.’
   Alex laughed. ‘And …?’
She sighed and wished she didn’t have to explain it to him, especially in front of his friend. She knew it would sound rather sordid and that they both might think less of her.
‘I took a midnight swim off the beach in my undergarments,’ she said lightly with a shrug, affecting nonchalance. ‘Someone saw me.’
   ‘Were you alone?’
She changed gear with a savage crunch and ignored her brother’s wince.
‘No,’ she replied, shaking her head. ‘I was not.’
   ‘So who was he?’
She let out a low breath. ‘He was the tennis professional at the hotel.’
‘Oh, Ev.’ Alex laughed again. ‘And now you’re back at Silverwood, grounded like an errant schoolgirl.’ He flicked a glance towards her. ‘Just like old times. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.
It was Eva’s turn to laugh, and Alex turned to Ben in the back seat to explain.
‘Eva has something of a history of being grounded – it seems to be the price of flouting society’s rules.’
‘Only because I’m a girl,’ Eva cut in. ‘If I was a boy, they’d all clap me on the back, and say, Well done, old chap!
‘Perhaps,’ Alex agreed. ‘But regrettably, you are very much a girl and polite society expects you to behave a certain way.’
‘Polite society can go to hell. We went for a swim.’
They fell silent after that. Ben sat back into the comfort of the car at last and she was grateful: his proximity at her shoulder had rattled her, the awareness of his warmth so close arousing unfamiliar feelings that fanned through her body, sensations she wasn’t sure she liked all that much.

A choice shaped by war. A life in its shadow. One last chance to make peace with the past.

1998. Eva Marlowe has never asked her husband if he regrets his decision – she isn’t sure she wants to know the answer. But when news arrives that his estranged son has died, she feels the foundations of their marriage begin to shift beneath her. Then the funeral draws them back to Silverwood Hall where it all began, and she can no longer avoid the question.

1939. As Europe teeters on the brink of war, young socialite Eva Ravensby has been sent home from the Riviera in disgrace. Grounded at the family seat of Silverwood Hall, she chafes against the constraints of her upbringing, until her brother brings aspiring writer Ben Marlowe home for the summer.

Ben is utterly compelling. And wholly unsuitable. So when he asks Eva to marry him the night before he leaves for war, she refuses. Duty must come before love, and her father would never forgive her. But how can she possibly know the train of events her answer has set in motion? As the war takes its toll on them both, her refusal shapes their lives in ways they can never undo. Then, in the aftermath, an unexpected second chance arises. But the price they must pay for it is more than they could have imagined.

Now, decades later, as Ben grieves for the son he never knew, Eva faces the question she has spent a whole marriage refusing to ask: was she ever truly the life he chose?

Release Week Blitz & Giveaway: The Safe Room by Sarah A. Denzil!

When I was fifteen years old, I made a mistake. I trusted the warm smile of a stranger called Peter Harlow, and accepted a ride home in his car.

It would be the last moment of my life I’d ever feel safe again.

The trauma of what happened that night will never leave me—and it was only the beginning. For the last nineteen years, I’ve been trapped in a nightmare of blocked numbers, violated restraining orders, and the compulsion to scan every face in every crowd, waiting for the day when his will be among them.

But I've also spent the time preparing. My home has become a fortress, with reinforced doors, perimeter cameras, and a safe room in the cellar. I've even taught my seven-year-old daughter how to call for help. When I finally have to face Peter Harlow again, I’ll be ready.

Or so I thought.

Because on the night of a furious snowstorm, a terrified stranger arrives at my gate. Emily is barefoot, bruised, and desperate for help—claiming her husband just tried to kill her.

To let her in from the storm would mean breaking every rule I've made to protect myself and my daughter—but could I live with myself if I didn’t?

But what follows is everything I've lived in fear of for all these years. First, the lights go out. Then, the internet dies. Next, the phone line goes dead—and finally, I find myself trapped inside my own safe room, watching through a camera feed as the man who stole my life for two decades walks the halls of my home, playing happy families with my little girl.

I built this fortress to keep him out. Now, it’s the only thing keeping me from protecting my child.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: The Au Pair’s Deception by C.J. Covino!

Excerpt!

The warmth of her home should've been comforting, but Claire couldn’t stop trembling. Every breath scraped her throat. Outside, the storm raged through the upscale suburban neighborhood of Wellesley, muffling the world in white. The eerie silence was broken only by the wind's howl.
She tried to sit up, but a wave of nausea forced her back into the blood-soaked sheets. The air held the metallic tang of iron. Somewhere in the house—or was it the wind?—something creaked. Her breathing grew labored, and something wet and sticky clung to the back of her long blonde hair.
A fresh surge of nausea swept over her as she attempted to sit up again. Squeezing her eyes shut and reopening them didn't wake her from what felt like a nightmare. Each failed attempt spiked her panic.
Rolling onto her side made her wince in pain. How long had she been lying here? Hermind was foggy. Who else was home? Why wasn’t anyone coming? Someone must’ve broken in during the storm. She remembered a rattle at the downstairs door earlier that night.
A figure took shape in the shadows—tall, or maybe it seemed that way in the flickering light. His face was hidden, and his slow, deliberate breathing filled the room. A scream formed in her throat, but what escaped was a broken whisper, swallowed by the darkness.
A dull, persistent ache throbbed at the back of her skull. Dizziness and nausea pinned her in place. Each pulse landed like a hammer.
She fluttered her eyelids. The figure was gone. Where had it gone?
This has to be another nightmare, she thought.
She wished he were here. He always made her feel safe. Imagining his strong arms wrapped around her and his deep, comforting voice brought a fleeting calm. Her dry lips parted, but no name came out—just a hoarse whisper lost to the wind pressing against the window.
Claire propped herself up on one elbow and tried to gather her thoughts. She focused, her vision adjusting to the darkness.
The figure emerged again, and a familiar voice whispered, “It's me. I've been looking for you.”

Claire Sinclair knows what it means to survive.

After a childhood shaped by trauma, she’s built a life rooted in stability—a thriving career, a home filled with love, and a devoted husband everyone envies.

But when Bella arrives as an au pair, the carefully constructed world Claire depends on begins to unravel.

At first, it’s subtle. A shift in tone. A look held too long. A moment that feels wrong—but not wrong enough.

Until it is.

As Grant’s behavior escalates, Claire begins to question herself—her instincts, her memories, the quiet unease she can’t quite explain. For the sake of her daughter, she holds on…even as something inside her starts to fracture.

But Bella sees what Claire can’t. She recognizes the signs. The patterns. The danger.

Because she’s lived it before.

As the tension inside the house builds toward something neither woman can ignore, the line between endurance and survival begins to blur—and the choice Claire makes next could cost her everything.

Book Blitz: Wanted: Rogues and Bards [E.V.I.L. 01] by AJ Sherwood & Jocelynn Drake!

Excerpt!

“The only problem is that no one knows how things are ranked. The ministry has always kept that a tight secret,” Malfas joined in. “No one knows if they view kidnapping a family of five as more or less evil than killing a priest of say, Sabu.”
“Or is kidnapping a family of five farmers worse than kidnapping a family of three nobles? No one knows!” Rain whined.
Malfas nodded. “These are the kinds of things we need to know if we’re going to climb the rankings.”
Fenric scoffed. “Or even get on the list.”
“E.V.I.L. isn’t currently on the list? How big is the list?” Maxie asked as he turned to pour the eggs onto the hot skillet.
“Twenty spots each. Top twenty heroes and top twenty villains,” Rain answered.
“After all the information is gathered, the minister meets with his twenty chancellors,” Fenric continued to keep Rain from heading down the path of listing all the reason why those twenty villains didn’t deserve to be on the list at all. “They compare the new information with the last released rankings and discuss the results. Following a month of debate, the Ministry of Hero and Villain Affairs releases both lists.”
“But it’s all bullshit!” Rain roared, pounding on the table some more. “Everyone knows that both sides are bribing the hell out of the minister and his fucking flunkies so they get listed higher than they deserve. Brickle the Beast keeps paying his way into the number nineteen slot on the villains, and I wouldn’t let that nose-picking shit-stealer lick my boots. He’s an idiot. He’s sank more ships than I’ve even owned.”
“And the heroes aren’t any better.” Malfas grumbled as he watched Maxie move the eggs around in the pan with a spatula.
Sadly, despite knowing that the food was probably poisoned, Fenric couldn’t deny a delicious aroma was starting to drift from the kitchen. Was that part of the poison at work? Did Maxie’s magic actually try to entice you into eating his food? That was fucking sinister.
“I’ve heard plenty of people state that at least seventeen of the twenty spots on the heroes’ list are bought and paid for with bribes,” Malfas continued.
“More like all twenty,” Rain grumbled.
“But why are the lists so important,” Maxie inquired. He crossed to one of the cabinets and pulled down a chipped wooden plate. “It doesn’t seem like something that people would care enough about to bribe their way onto it. Especially the villains. You’re all so badbums and amazing.”
Fenric winced. May the gods fucking forgive him, but someone needed to teach Maxie how to properly swear. “That’s badass, you mean,” he corrected. “Badass.”
Maxie smiled brilliantly at him. “Yes, badass.”
Rain snickered and Fenric kicked the pirate under the table, causing him to howl.
“The heroes care about the list because they receive a very healthy stipend from the government for appearing on the list. Higher on the list they are, the more they receive,” Malfas explained.
“But isn’t that to help save on military and public service fees. The main government and small local governments don’t need to keep large watches and guards because of the heroes,” Maxie replied. He picked up the spatula and started scooping fluffy scrambled eggs onto the plate.
“That would be true if the heroes weren’t as corrupt as hell and more dangerous than most villains,” Rain countered.
Maxie wilted. “Oh.” He placed the plate on the counter near the stove. Even from where Fenric sat at the table, he could see that those were the damn fluffiest scrambled eggs he’d seen in his life. He was tempted to give them a taste even though he knew they had to be deadly.
“Villains obviously don’t get a government paycheck for being evil. However, being on the list clears away headaches sometimes and opens up opportunities,” Fenric continued, trying to ignore the sudden rumbling of his stomach.
Maxie blinked wide eyes. “I beg your pardon?”
“Little peon, weak villains will steer clear of you if you’re on the list,” Rain said.
“And opportunities arise when you have a big scheme but can’t do it all yourself. This means you have to hire in more help—like an experienced pirate with a ship or a necromancer,” Malfas explained. He pinched a fluffy chunk of egg between two fingers and held it up to the sunlight pouring through one of the windows, inspecting it.
“Or a powerful warlock and a rogue thief good at sneaking,” Maxie continued.
“Exactly! If you’re on the list, you’ve proven yourself as a badass and can command a higher cut of the booty at the end of the job.”
And without a thought in his fucking head, Malfas popped that egg into his mouth and chewed happily, looking so proud of himself for giving Maxie such valuable and important information.
“Malfas!” Fenric shouted while Maxie stared in horror.
“What?” The warlock was still clueless.
Rain fell out of his chair laughing. The damn pirate rolled on the floor, knocking into chairs, cackling like a lunatic, while the poor warlock continued to look on utterly confused. But the realization hit him finally, and all the color drained from his face.
“What did I do?” he gasped.
“Is there a chance it wasn’t poisoned?” Maxie asked in a small voice.
“Nope. It was poisoned.” His voice was growing tighter as his hands lifted to clutch his stomach. He flashed Maxie a weak smile as he started to curl his body slowly toward the floor. “The eggs were, ungh, delicious though. Best I’ve ever eaten.”
Fenric scoffed. “Probably the last too.”
“I think I’ll go find Hapi,” Maxie offered, already starting to run for the stairs.
“And tell him to bring some skelebabies. I’m not dragging his corpse into the yard,” Fenric yelled after him.

Welcome to E.V.I.L! (Every Villain is Legendary.)
Mission Guidelines:

3. Retrieve Fenric’s mother’s stolen treasures (and beat up the heroes who stole them if possible)
4. Rescue Lirion’s sister and wait, what do you mean breaking up a sex ring and helping a village from being overrun by finfolk LOWERED our villain rankings overnight?

Future Goals: climb the villain rankings, find a lair, get revenge, and trash talk The Box

Welcome and try not to die (but if you do our necromancer will raise you).

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Last Night by Kim Deister!

Excerpt!

Night fell quickly, swallowing the last light of day in the blink of an eye as the sky darkened from a surreal deep purple into a vast expanse of ebony. Not a single star pricked through the inky darkness. Even the moon shied away from shining too brightly through the clouds that faded into the night sky.
They call it the city that never sleeps for a reason. It was never truly dark in New York City, a million neon lights shining through even the blackest of nights.
But not tonight. Tonight the darkness engulfed everything it touched, dimming even the brightest of the neon, absorbing it into itself.
It was the kind of thick, cloying darkness that made people fear every shadow that moved as they hurried along the evening streets. It seemed alive, almost sentient, as it slipped around corners, like it was a predator chasing its prey, swallowing everything in its path into an endless void. People scurried along the sidewalks with their hearts racing, eyes furtively darting into the dark places. As the shadows shifted ominously, they quickened their paces until they were safely behind locked doors with the lights on and the curtains pulled tightly across the windows. They were right to hide, right to be afraid of whatever lurked on the other side of the too-thin glass. Dangerous things hid in the shadows of the night.
I knew that, probably more than anyone. The night scared the hell out of me. But it wasn’t the monsters that hid in the shadows that frightened me. They paled in comparison to the beast I feared lurked within me, the beast that came out at night. I lived in fear that I was the monster that hid in the shadows.
Yet even as much as the night terrified me, I welcomed it. The darkness wrapped me in its arms. The shadows that danced on the walls didn’t scare me; they kept me company when I felt alone. The noises that made others slam their windows shut and throw the locks home sounded like music to me, distracting me from the thoughts that ran through my head all day long, tormenting me. The night energized me, made me feel strong and powerful when most of the time I felt anything but.

What do you do when you keep losing time?

Terrifying visions torment Starra. Lost moments of time and flashes of images too horrific to accept fill her with icy fear so complete she can’t escape it. With too many unanswered questions, she needs answers. Now. It’s her only hope if she wants to save what’s left of her shattered mind and soul.

Unlike Starra, Mina cares nothing for her soul. Damned long ago, she’s too scarred for redemption. There are people meant to enjoy lives of love and family and friends. Mina isn’t one of these people. Her life is in the shadows, unafraid of the dark… until she realizes that something lurks in those shadows, something that wants to tear her apart.

One never knows what the darkness hides…

Author bio:

My name is Kim and my last name, Deister, is pronounced “Die-ster.” I always tell my husband I should have kept my married name, Ingram. So much easier to to pronounce!

I am a writer thoroughly in love with words. Reading them, writing them… I love that words can take you outside of your world and let the unimaginable become imaginable. I love them so much that I decided I needed to create some worlds and stories of my own!

Besides being a writer, I am an Army veteran (and Army wife) and a mom to four sons. I grew up in northern New York in a tiny college town called Potsdam. Over the years, our Army life has taken us all over the place and I have been lucky enough to work and live in some pretty amazing places. Right now we live in Hawaii on the island of O’ahu, minutes from the North Shore.
