Book Blitz & Giveaway: Pity Play [Pity 06] by Whitney Dineen!

Excerpt!

Walking to the bedroom door, I open it while staying hidden behind it. Then I listen for any sounds coming from my room. There’s nothing, so I tiptoe down the hall. I discover my room is empty, so Luke must already be downstairs. Exhaling loudly in relief, I continue to stare at my bed. It’s rumpled like it’s been slept in, but the covers are pulled as though an attempt has been made to make it.
Luke Phillips slept in my bed last night. As that image soaks into my consciousness, I feel teenage giddiness flow through me.
I hear a creaking noise behind me and immediately realize my mistake. Luke isn’t in my room because he’s in the bathroom across the hall. I turn to run back to my parents’ room, but something in my brain decides that it’s too far away, so I wind up dashing into my own room. I make a run for the closet and manage to cross the threshold in the nick of time.
From my secret vantage point, I watch Luke as he walks into the room. He’s only wearing a towel. Holy heck! What do I do now? I can’t stand here and watch him undress, can I? Well, maybe just for a second. I chastise myself not to act like a perve-o, but I take too long. Luke drops his towel which causes me to gasp, loudly.
“Lorelai?” I hear him call out. He doesn’t sound pleased.
He knows I’m here. All he has to do is walk over for confirmation. “Oh, hey, Luke …” I sound like an idiot. “I just came in here to get a … a … a sweater.”
He rustles around for a moment before I see his shadow creep toward the door frame. I turn to face my sweater collection, so I don’t have to make eye contact with him. “Did you find one?” Oh yeah, he’s mad.
Grabbing the first sweater I see, I take it off the stack and pull it over my head. Oh dear, it’s tight so I know it’s an old one. But the only way out of this situation is to keep going with the lie. Turning around, I force a smile to my face, and blurt out, “Good, you put some pants on.” Great, now he knows I saw his towel fall off. Why can’t I keep my mouth shut around him?
Embarrassment blooms across Luke’s cheeks. “Lorelai, I think we need to talk.”
Dear God, no! We can never speak of this, ever. “No need,” I tell him. “I’ll just move more of my clothes over to my parents’ room, so this never happens again. But I’ll do it later so you can keep getting ready.”
I try to scurry past him, but he gently grabs my arm to stop me. “This is the sweater you came in here to get?”
“Yes, it is,” I tell him emphatically. “It’s my favorite.” Belatedly, I look down and see that I’m wearing Mickey Mouse’s face embroidered across a purple acrylic garment that’s so small it’s practically cropped. If that’s not bad enough, there’s a big hole in one of the armpits and a snag running through Mickey’s face.
There’s nothing I can do but brazen this out, so I disengage from Luke’s hand and announce, “Mickey Mouse is my ideal man.” Then I make a run for it.

I’ve loved my brother’s best friend for as long as I can remember. Newsflash, he doesn’t see me that way. But now that Luke Phillips is coming to town and needs a place to stay… could this be my big chance?

It’s not like I’ve sat around for the last twenty-eight years waiting for Luke. Not really. But ever since I moved back to Elk Lake, I can’t help but hope I’ll run into him. Enter my big brother calling and asking if his bestie can bunk with me. My younger self is doing backflips at the possibilities.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Luke is looking for a long-term situation. He’s made it clear he’s got some business to take care of and then he’s on the first train back to Chicago.

But then he kisses me. And everything changes.

At least, I hope it has…

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Lines We Shouldn’t Cross [The Innocence Series 01] by Harper Reynolds!

Excerpt!

Ella

This, this… guy! I stalk out of the dining room, fuming.
Of all the people for Pippa to rent the carriage house to, it had to be him. And now he’s living right next door, invading my sanctuary, the space I’ve always considered mine.
Why did he have to ruin my hope of living in the carriage house? There must be plenty of places available for rent in town. I sigh, trying to let my frustration go because bitching and moaning won’t change a thing.
I’d spent countless sleepovers there with my best friend, trading secrets, and dreams. Later, losing myself in romance novels, I’d imagined my own epic love story. Yeah, well, that had been a big naïve fantasy. Most guys turn out to be jerks—like my ex—not some swoon-worthy hero who sets my body ablaze while cherishing my soul. That kind of guy only exists between the pages.
Now, another real-life example of an arrogant jerk stands right there in the dining room, pouring wine as if he owns the place. His broad frame fills the space like a quintessential guy’s guy. His large hands tell a different story. Hands that could build barn walls or something, not pouring wine with unexpected gentleness. Strength and softness, wrapped in those sexy, veiny forearms. If he’d be anyone else, I’d be hopelessly flustered.
Fine, the man’s hot enough to melt steel, but that's where my appreciation ends. His charm could strip paint of wood, and it's just about as healthy to be around. He might have fooled Pippa, but not me. And now we’re supposed to work together? Fricking perfect.
In the kitchen, I muster a smile. “Need a hand?” The lasagna’s rich scent fills the room, promising comfort.
Pippa, beaming as though she’s crafted a culinary masterpiece, hands me a tray bearing the night’s first course. In the center, a mason jar filled with her homemade ranch dressing takes the spotlight amid the salad greens and a basket of still-warm bread.
   “Could you bring this in?”
Her warm smile tells me she’s missed me and is happy I’m home.
“Of course.” I won’t rain on her parade, so I nod and smile. One quick taste of the creamy dressing first, then the breadbasket joins the greens as I steady myself to face Mr. Arrogance Next Door.
“Thanks, darling.” Pippa smiles. “I’ll be right there.”
Yes, please, I pray silently. I don’t care to be alone for even one minute with that infuriating man. I let out an inaudible sigh, part frustration, part resignation.
“Alright,” I say, forcing a cheery tone. With no excuse to dodge McCocky, I carry the tray out of the kitchen.

When they first meet, sparks fly…but not the romantic kind…

Ella Westhoff is a marketing genius. But romance? Not her strong suit. So, while she’s prepared to return to her small hometown and help her grandmother successfully reopen her B&B, she will not fall for the grumpy landscaper on the job—the one who so thoroughly annoyed her at first sight. That was the plan, anyway…

Cooper Daniels isn’t cut out for love, either. His bitter divorce certainly taught him that. One-night stands are all he’s willing to commit to these days. Which means that even though he enjoys bantering with the brilliant Ella, he knows he can’t be the kind of guy she deserves. No matter how much she makes him wish he could be…

Somewhere between fresh starts and past hurts, business and pleasure, Ella and Cooper might be able to claim a happily ever after. But only if they’re willing to cross some lines along the way…

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Frozen Flames [The Hollow 03] by M.H.B.!

One mistake.
A tragic accident.
A life-altering event.

Something I can never take back.

What do you do when you meet the girl of your dreams but you’re now a shadow of who you used to be.

Gemma Ackerman, my girlfriend, was my everything. Her quiet, nerdy aura drew me in and I never wanted to let go. Life on my Harley with her by my side was perfect.

Until it wasn’t—until I lost myself.

Because a part of me died that night and it was never coming back.

I welcomed anger instead.
I greeted loneliness like an old friend.
I allowed guilt and sorrow to nestle inside my head.

That’s when I met Claire Edwards—the epitome of joie de vivre. She showed me a new colorful way to see the world. She turned numbness into eagerness for a taste of life.

And now I’m torn between a girlfriend that never gave up on me and a woman I picture as my wife.

I had no other choice.
I let myself die, so that I may live.
And it’s all thanks to her. . .

Release Day Blitz: Sinfully Mine [Royal Bastards MC: Tonopah, NV 20] by Nikki Landis!

Xenon:
I’m the tech expert for my motorcycle club.
It’s because of me that we’ve interrupted the trafficking ring in Nevada.
I have cameras in multiple cities, and I’m always watching.
But the long, lonely nights have taken a toll.
When I find an online game and a new friend, all that begins to change.
GivemeGracexx411 has the sexiest voice I’ve ever heard.
It’s not long before we’re chatting outside our nightly games.
And now she wants to meet.

I’ve always been a geek and gamer; it shocks people when they find out.
Maybe it’s all the dark ink on my body or the fact that I put so many hours in the gym.
I don’t look anything like my profile pic, and that’s intentional.
The internet is forever. Nothing can hide for long.
I don’t know if I want Grace to know the biker half of my life.
But one night, she forgets to log off her computer and shut down the camera.

And that’s when I meet Grace’s other persona, Dolly.
I can’t stop watching as she strips, parts her thighs, and begins a whole different game with her viewers.
They get to watch her up close on her laptop. But I get to see every part of her.
In an instant, I’m addicted. I need more.
But when she finds the camera on her computer still running, she shuts me out.

Cat and Mouse is my favorite game.
I’ve always been good at stalking my prey.
And now Grace is my sweet, scared little mouse.
I do love it when she decides to run.
But what I thought is a tease meant to entice me is really a setup to catch an entirely different group of voyeurs.
And those sex traffickers who can’t get enough of underage girls?
They think they can snatch what’s mine.
I’ll do anything to save Grace.
As I race against the clock to rescue her, I know I won’t be capable of showing mercy.
My Reaper is ready to spill blood and bring justice before he claims my Dolly.
She doesn’t know it yet, but Grace will be all sinfully mine.

Book Blitz & Giveaway: The Fallen Guardian by Dawn Chartier!

Excerpt!

Why did he care what the hell she was? Cause you’ve never seen anyone like her. Was it her outrageous will to fight? Her soft yet firm curves beneath his hands? Or the way her wavy hair reminded him of autumn leaves? He wasn’t sure about any of it, but he knew what it felt like to promise something to a dead loved one. Also, what it was like not to keep that promise. Had she kept hers?
He withdrew completely from scattered glimpses of her memories and gazed deep into her wide, blurry forest-green eyes, curiosity getting the best of him. She swayed slightly. “Did you get the revenge you sought?”
Had she found peace? If so, what was that like? A burning crawled up the back of his throat. He was afraid he’d never find justice or peace, and what would he eventually become if he never did? Something odd clicked between them. A weird bond over retribution.
“No.” She shook her head and tried pulling out of his grip. “Please let me go. I must find someone. I need to talk to him.”
“If you answer my questions, maybe you’ll get a chance to find your father, eventually.” He slid his hands down her arms and held tight. God, the feel of her warmth did something inside of him. Something he hadn’t ever expected to feel again.
Her gaze widened, and she jerked against him. “Let me go. Please.”
“Tell me what you are and who you are working for.” He raised his voice after each word. He could compel her to talk, but he couldn’t compel her choice of words. A human’s mind had free will, and he couldn’t demand an honest answer, but it couldn’t hurt to try. “And how did you manipulate the weather?”
“I didn’t.” She bent her left leg slightly, favoring her right.
He released a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding in. “What’s your name?”
She continued to pull away from him. “Cyn.”
“Real name, before I pry it out of you.” Again, he couldn’t get her to say her real name, but he could make her speak. “Name.” His voice grew impatient, and he squeezed her arms.
Her thin body tensed. “I told you. Cyn is what my friends call me.”
“We aren’t friends, but we might be able to barter if you tell me what I want to know, and then maybe I’ll help you find him.”
   “Maybe? You’ve just killed everyone.”
Tension gripped stronger in his shoulders. He hadn’t killed everyone. “Maybe I can help you find him, if you help me.”
She took in a long shuddering breath, tears filled her eyes, and she started to gag. “I’m Gracyn, and I’m about to be sick.”

*When Darkness Tempts the Divine*

Gracyn James has made vengeance her life’s mission. Haunted by the brutal murder of her family, she survives on the streets with The Inciters, a vigilante group that delivers justice to society’s worst. Lucien Ward, a fallen Guardian with a shadowed past, is on a mission of his own. Stripped of his former glory, he hunts for the truth behind his family’s downfall while fulfilling his grim duties as the Angel of Death. Book Blitz & Giveaway: Love, Lies, and Celtic Knots: A Small Town Romance Anthology [Pelican Point 01]!

Excerpt from Love Undercover!

My mental pep talk brings a smile to my face, and I inhale the rest of my lunch as I return my focus to the task at hand, hurling another glare at the offending fermentation tank. I’ll get that safety valve replaced today if I have to dismantle the damn tank piece by piece.
Thirty minutes later, I’ve only managed to move the bolt four millimeters. I thought I finally had it on that third turn, but now it’s really frozen. Even the penetrating oil I’ve used has failed to work. Utilizing every colorful curse word I know, I give it one more try, pulling so hard it will be a wonder if my shoulders don’t pop out of their sockets.
Startled by a deep chuckle directly behind me, I jerk upright, smacking my head on a pipe, and curse like a sailor.
“Goddammit!” I yell, throwing the wrench to the floor. I rub the sore spot on my scalp as I pivot to lambaste the idiot who has foolishly decided to invade my workroom and scare the bejesus out of me. But the sight that greets me renders me speechless, and my brain is filled with an appreciative humming sound.
I can only stare at the gorgeous man beaming back at me. Thick brown hair lies in soft, lazy curls around his head; his ridiculously well-lashed, dark eyes twinkle with amusement. His full lips are framed by the most perfectly chiseled jawline I think I’ve ever seen. To top it off, he is tall—easily over six feet—with long legs and a V-shaped torso that most models would kill for. Judging by the way his T-shirt molds to his muscular chest and arms, he is intimately familiar with exercise or some form of manual labor.
   Gah! Focus, Sophie!
“That bolt’s giving you fits, huh?” the man drawls in a twang that sends a tingle right through me. There is definitely a southern drawl present, one deeper than is normal in Florida. It is insanely sexy and makes him that much more appealing. Despite being a California girl, I’ve always been a sucker for a southern accent.
Who the hell is this guy?

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Believing In You [Priestly Family 01] by Sharon C. Cooper!

Excerpt!

It didn’t make sense that she was fantasizing and sometimes daydreaming about the man. Why him? Why did her temporary boss make her want to touch him all over and jump his bones? Sure, it had been awhile since she’d been with a man, but it hadn’t been that damn long. And sure, he was handsome in a sexy, geek kind of way with an intelligence that was as attractive as the rest of him. However, he was uptight, standoffish, and a workaholic.
   So not my type.
Even with those negatives, the sexual tension that vibed between her and Harrison Grant was hot enough to leave burn marks. It was a good thing that her assignment would soon be over. She didn’t know how much longer she could pretend she wasn’t seriously interested in him.
Then again, who was she kidding? The man was so far out of her league, there was no way he’d be interested in her. It didn’t matter anyway. He seemed like the type to never step out of line. No way would he help her act out some of the fantasies.
Nyla snorted at the thought and shoved her bag into the bottom desk drawer. No sense in daydreaming about someone she could never…
The door behind her burst open, and she jumped, her hand flying to her chest. “What in the…”
   Harrison.
“I told you to always get the caller’s name and tell me before transferring them to my phone,” he ground out, his chest heaving as if he was about to blow a gasket at any moment.
Nyla should be concerned, especially since he had never raised his voice at her, but all she could do was stare at him. The man was too gorgeous for his own good, and the fire in his eyes only made him look that much hotter.
Even his black, wire-rimmed glasses didn’t detract from his handsomeness. Smooth deep-bronze skin, a thin mustache and goatee, and eyes that were so dark, they almost looked black, made up his perfect face. Then there was the black turtleneck he was wearing. It molded over his muscular upper body, and the black slacks had to be tailored specifically for him to look that good.
   Yup. Too damn fine.
“Did you hear what I said?” he snapped, and that shook Nyla from her thoughts.
“I heard you,” she said, though she wasn’t positive that she’d heard everything. Ignoring his rant and scowl, she said, “Good morning, Sunshine. Can I get you some coffee? Tea? Or do you need something stronger, like a shot of tequila, to calm you down?”

They’re opposites in every way, but they might just be the perfect match.

After a case of mistaken identity, riddled with betrayal, Harrison Grant is struggling to open himself up to other people again. He lost a part of himself while in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, and it seems impossible to move forward.

Enter Nyla Priestly. She’s a woman with a bubbly smile for everyone she meets and who always has a kind word to say. The jaded version of Harrison wants to doubt her personality is real. No one can be that happy all the time. Right?

Nyla has never been into the broody type. Yet something about Harrison makes her body crave him. Sure, he’s gorgeous and happens to be one of the sexiest saxophone players she’s ever met. But achieving her dream of owning Moody Days Jazz Club is top priority. She doesn’t have time to deal with a man. No matter how good he makes her feel.

As Harrison falls for Nyla and helps her fulfill her dreams, can her unceasing love be enough for him to trust again?

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Lost and Found Cowboy [Lassiter Ranch 04] by Jennie Marts!

Excerpt!

She went into the kitchen and brought back a plastic tub with a blue lid. “I made these for you this morning.”
Mack shifted the baby on his hip so he could open the lid, and the delicious scents of peanut butter and chocolate wafted up to him. “You made me cookies?”
“Yeah, I saw that Reese’s wrapper in your truck, so I figured you must like peanut butter and chocolate, so these are basically chocolate chip cookies with peanut butter chips mixed in as well.”
“Wow. I don’t know what to say. No one’s ever made cookies just for me before.” He gingerly lifted one out and stared at it. “Damn, I’m trying not to get choked up over a simple baked good, but this means a lot.”
“I’m glad,” she whispered, smiling up at him. And danged if her eyes weren’t a little teary.
He stuffed the cookie in his mouth, partly because it smelled so good, and partly to keep him from telling her he’d just fallen in love with her. He groaned at the mouthwatering flavors of vanilla, peanut butter, and chocolate. The cookie was just the right mix of chewy and crunchy, and he reached for a second one. “These are amazing.”
“Yeah?” She smiled up at him, but still a question hung in her eyes. “You really like them?”
“Hell yes, I do.” He grinned around another bite. “They kind of remind me of you. A little salty, a little sweet, kind of gooey on the inside, and just looking at them, I know they’re gonna taste delicious.”
She laughed. “You have quite the mouth on you.” Her gaze dropped to his lips and a rush of heat surged through him.
He leaned close to her neck, close enough for the scent of her to surround him and make his head a little dizzy. “Just say the word, and it could be on you.”
Her eyes widened, and pink flared her cheeks as a naughty grin teased the corners of her lips.
She’s considering it. Score one for the cowboy.
She looked up at him from below her long eyelashes, a coy smile on her lips. “You do tempt me, Mack Lassiter,” she whispered.
His gaze dropped to her lips.
   Speaking of tempting.
She swallowed then pulled her bottom lip under her front teeth, and he almost groaned as hard as he had with the bite of cookie. He knew she would taste just as good.

He came to find a family. He never expected to find love.

After meeting the three half-brothers he never knew existed, cowboy Mack Lassiter decides to stay and try to build a new life in the small Colorado mountain town of Woodland Hills. But he didn’t expect to find another family in Lorna Gibbs, the sweet single mom and local coffee shop owner, whose strength and warmth instantly captivated him.

Lorna’s not looking for love—her only focus is on giving her son and infant daughter the stable life they all deserve. The last thing she needs is a tall cowboy stirring up feelings she’s locked away for years. But Mack isn’t just any man—he’s steady, kind, and a little broken, just like her.

When her no-good ex suddenly returns and starts threatening her and the life she’s built, Mack steps in to play the role of devoted boyfriend. But as their charade deepens and the threat from Lorna’s ex intensifies, their fake relationship blurs into something real. And now they’ll have to decide if they can trust each other enough to build a family that’s anything but pretend.

She’s done with men. He doesn’t believe anyone stays. But a fake relationship might be just what they need to find something real…
