Release Day Blitz: Reaper [Valhalla Rising MC 03] by Andi Rhodes!

Humans are taught that death is the end, that it’s their soul’s final curtain call. But for the members of Valhalla Rising MC, death is only the beginning.

Reaper…
Life wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. I peaked at thirty, and by the time I was thirty-five, I was divorced, and my ex had custody of our two kids. So when I was killed trying to be a good samaritan, I was cool with it. Until I realized that I was being given a second chance and still had to ‘live’.

As the enforcer for Valhalla Rising MC, and with my ability, my afterlife is a major improvement. But when Odin sends me back to the land of the living to play savior to a single mom, my reality shifts once again. To say I’m not happy about the order is an understatement, but Kyra and her little family start to grow on me, and before I know it, I find myself needing her like humans need air to survive.

When I tell her what I really am, will she embrace the possibilities, or will she run in the other direction as any sane woman should?

Kyra…
As a single mother to twins, I rarely have a moment’s peace. Add in an absent baby daddy and a failing diner, and I’m about to pack my bags for the nut house. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing my little ones need me.

After what amounts to the hardest day of my life to date, I’m ready to throw in the towel. But a surly stranger steps in and somehow, he makes me smile. I don’t have any room for a man in my life, nor do I particularly want one, but I find myself starting to depend on Craig to chase away the dark.

When he throws me a curveball of epic proportions, can I do what’s best for myself and my kids, or will I let history and fear get the better of me?

Blog Tour & Giveaway: The Marriage Agreement [The Agreement 02] by A. Akinosho!

The best laid plans sometimes crumble,
but fate has the perfect detour.

Ayodele
In desperate need of a solution, I’m about to lose everything—my education, my future—if I’m deported before finishing school. Osei, bless his heart, is willing to marry me, but his wandering eye would only bring more trouble than we need.

Enter Luke, my best friend’s brother, with a shocking proposal: a marriage agreement. A simple arrangement that could save us both.

He needs to escape the forced marriage his father’s pushing on him, and I need to stay in the country to finish school.
It’s a deal that works for both of us.

But neither of us expected that living together, pretending to be husband and wife, would blur the lines between what's real and what’s just part of our agreement.

I didn’t plan on falling in love with Luke, but sometimes the heart doesn’t care about the plan.

Luke
There was always a girl—a girl I couldn’t get out of my head. When I finally find her, she’s with the one person I could never betray—my brother.

I’ve kept my distance, believing that Ayodele was off-limits, only to learn she’s only my brother’s best friend. But crossing that line still felt forbidden. So, I’ve watched her quietly, wanting what I thought I could never have.

Now, she desperately needs help, and I see a way to help her—and myself. A fake marriage would solve both our problems. She stays to finish school, and I escape the loveless match my father is forcing me into.
It’s the perfect solution.

Or so I thought. What was supposed to be just an agreement is becoming something else entirely. The connection I’ve tried to deny is impossible to ignore, and keeping my distance is no longer an option.

Maybe this was never supposed to be a plan, because, neither of us is sticking to the plan.
No problem, right?

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Candle in the Wind by Kim Baccellia!

Excerpt!

Up close, the deserted building looked less threatening. More than a few tiles were missing from the roof. Scattered, dry sagebrush littered the path. The low muttering of voices grew louder the closer I got to the door. I snuck another quick glance over my shoulder, scanning the area. Nothing seemed out of place, but that didn’t still the unease that refused to leave. A lone owl soared overhead, and its hoot nearly stopped me in my tracks, the sound reminding me of Reverent Father’s alarms.
I glanced back at the building and took a deep breath. I can do this. The rotted wooden door squeaked as I pushed through it to walk inside.
Mostly women, dressed in dark clothing, hung to the edges of the room, whispering. Their telltale turquoise stone necklaces betraying their former status in the community. Hoods obscured their features. This act alone, of women gathering together, was forbidden. I cast my gaze down.
   They can’t know it’s me.
If word got out that I’d infiltrated a blasphemy meeting, not only would I be brought before the Elders, but my family as well.
   I couldn’t let that happen.
   Yet here I was.
Yellowish haze filled the cramped space along with the burnt scent of smoke from a fire that ravaged the building a few years back. A lone table and a few broken chairs added to the sense of desolation.
No, I couldn’t stay here, especially if the Elite Guard got wind of this, which I knew would happen.
I searched the room for Xochi, the urge to grab her and leave growing stronger by the moment.
Sure enough, my sister hung over to the side.
“Xochi,” I whispered, glancing furtively around. “I changed my mind.”
My sister barely looked up from her vidcom. “And miss this?”
“You know what I mean.” I tried to ignore the frantic beating of my heart.
Then I saw Luz. The light teased the maroon highlights in Luz’s shoulder-length dark hair and gave her brown skin a rosy glow. She leaned in, whispering to a girl from one of our classes.
Without thinking, I left Xochi and slowly made my way over to Luz.

What if you discovered everything you’ve been taught is a lie?

For most of her life, seventeen-year-old Espie Hernandez’s world revolved around the Branch of Thomas, a cult-like haven in what’s left of a war-ravaged America. Their ruler, Reverent Father, keeps them safe from the Others, those outside the compound who wish to harm them.

Espie questions what she’s been taught and finds herself banished from the compound. She's thrust into the harsh world beyond their walls with the mission to prove the Others actually have a plot against them. When tensions escalate, Espie must figure out who to trust before everything she loves is torn apart.

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Twice A Target [Task Force Eagle 04] by Susan Vaughan!

Excerpt!

Bobby’s siren wail penetrated Holt’s consciousness like a nail in his skull.
He opened one eye. The lighted digital clock beside his bed read two o’clock. Right on time, little guy. “Coming,” he mumbled.
One foot on the floor. The other. He raked fingers through his hair, then pushed to his feet. Starting for the door, he snapped alert as though slapped.
   Maddy McCoy.
He’d finished some paperwork in the office, then slipped off to bed early. But escape didn’t work worth a damn. The image of Maddy’s sassy face and the memory of her scent kept him torturing his sheets for hours before he finally slept.
Damn, she was in the master bedroom. He couldn’t troop through the house in his skivvies. Blinking in the darkened bedroom, he stumbled back and forth like a drugged steer as he searched for his jeans. Didn’t he leave them on the chair? Or on the floor? No. He put away the clean ones and tossed the manure-smeared ones into the washing machine. Where they remained.
Bobby cranked it up a notch. He could rival that opera singer, Luciano something.
Hell with it. Holt hit the door and burst into the hall.
And collided with a slim figure in filmy white.
He stumbled to a halt and braced himself as his arms went around her to stop her fall. She emitted a small yelp like a cartoon eek. Under his hands, her slender body in the silken covering was a miracle of curves and soft, toned female flesh. His body tightened and his pulse raced off to distant planets. The hallway suddenly didn’t have enough air.
He immediately set her away a step. Then he stepped back another. “Sorry. Bobby.” The baby’s cry subsided to hiccups and whimpers. No emergency, to his relief.
“Thought that was my job,” she said. “Two o’clock bottle. Diaper change. Like that.”
“You’re here to spell me when I’m doing ranch work.”
“A rancher needs sleep.” She returned his scowl, although humor tugged at the corner of her lips. “Why do you want me here if you won’t leave Bobby to me?”
He opened his mouth, closed it again with a snap.
Bobby cranked it up again. Only taking a breather. His wail rivaled an air raid siren.
“If you’ll get out of my way,” she said, tossing her hair and smoothing her nightshirt so it highlighted her breasts, “I’ll see to the baby.” The grin popped out, accompanied by a slow perusal down Holt’s body. “Nice…legs.”
He blinked, shot a glance downward. Damn, betrayed by his tented boxers. His Adam’s apple jumped as he swallowed hard. He jerked to the side along the wall, as if someone had pressed a knife to his side. “Bobby’s all yours.”
“Great!” She turned and swung her hips as she flounced toward the baby’s room.

Disaster strikes DEA Agent Holt Donovan twice, when a gunfight ruins his mission and a car crash kills his brother and sister-in-law. Home on the Colorado ranch to raise his infant nephew, Holt enlists a nanny—Maddy McCoy, the woman who once jilted his brother. The world-traveling photographer never expected to return to Colorado, the only real home she ever had, and to the man she never forgot. Burned out from covering too many starving children and refugees and short on funds, Maddy agrees, vowing to keep her heart safe. What neither of them knows is that by bringing her into his home, Holt has placed her in the crosshairs of a killer. As Holt and Maddy cope with their desire for each other and the resentments of the past, their investigation into the brother’s death leads them into escalating danger and a shocking discovery.

I wanted to write as soon as I learned to read. I dabbled with stories and poems for years, but didn't start writing seriously until many years later. My favorite books have always been mysteries and romances, so the mix in romantic suspense was a natural. I love writing romantic suspense because it throws the hero and heroine together under extraordinary circumstances and pits them against a clever villain. My books have been both a Romantic Times Magazine Reviewer's Choice Nominee and a finalist for the Daphne du Maurier Award. Reviewers have called my books fast-paced, thrilling, action-packed, sizzling, and highly emotional.

I have also published a children's Christmas picture book, Sleigh Magic.

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Chasing Headlines [Chasing Victory 01] by J. Rose Black!

Excerpt!

Liv

I didn’t want to be there. Or found there. Or have to—ugh, I darted across the hall and pressed my back against the wall. Waited a couple of breaths. I peeked around the corner just in time to see him lean down and—nope. Time to go. I shoved open the exit door, ready to leap through it, intent on my escape. It came to a jarring stop.
   “Ow! Fuck.”
I collided with the door and almost fell into Breslin, er, Coop. Oh hell, Coop. I cringed. “Did I hit you?”
“Milline.” He flipped up his sunglasses. I found myself caught in blue eyes with those long, dark lashes. They looked brighter. He was freshly shaved; a small sprinkle of very light freckles dotted one side of his nose. My insides warmed, and still he stared—at me, through me, good God he was beautiful. I swallowed and stepped back.
“Why are you here? You can’t practice. You’re supposed to be on rest, remember? Three days and I know you were counting Sunday but I don’t think you should.”
   “Gotta report in. Trainer.”
I blinked. Pinched my arm, nope not asleep. “Wait, you said words to me other than ‘no comment.’ Do we need to go back to the ER? Did you forget who I am, again?”
He grinned that smirky, confident half smile. “Can’t forget my girlfriend. Did you come to cheer me up?”
Wait, what? “You can’t be serious.”
“Never was that good at lying.” He moved through the doorway. I stepped back as he approached.
“Wouldn’t make sense that I’d lie to my coach.”
My insides went from toasty-melty warm to unbearably hot. “No.”
“And you can’t break up with me so soon after we went the distance in the bedroom . . . all weekend long.” My back hit the wall. He leaned close to my ear. “No one would believe you.”
“Nooo.” Stars sparked in front of my eyes and I had to remember to breathe. “Oh my God . . .” I grabbed his arm. “How long are we going to have to do this?”
   “Do what?”
“Ugh, seriously, how long do we have to pretend to like each other?”
He tipped his head to one side and shot me a dark look. “You mean ‘date.’”
“Yes, fine, whatever. How long does it have to be . . . before we can break up?”
His lips pursed together, and then twitched. He covered his mouth with one hand.
   “What?”
Heavy-lidded eyes met mine. He put his hand on my waist and leaned closer. My whole body tingled and trembled.
“You’re on the clock, Coop. Say bye to your girlfriend. She’ll still be here when you’re done.” Eberhardt crunched into an apple as he walked by.
Coop bent at the knee and met my gaze. I was no doubt turning strawberry-pink. My stomach wobbled as he tucked a piece of hair behind my ear.
“Two minutes, Cooper!” Coach shouted an instant before the locker room door clattered shut.
“Seriously, how long?” I said with a gasp.
“So, you’re asking me how long before a couple can break up after having sex?”
And I was a tomato. “Yeah.”
“So you’ve never broken up with someone after having sex?”

They’re chasing the same dream…
Too bad they’re not on the same team.

When Breslin Cooper’s major league dreams go up in flames, he’s left with his backup plan: college baseball at Texas State Tech in Vanquer, Texas. But his public altercation with a reporter saddles him with mandated community service, therapy–and a toxic “Storm Cooper” reputation that no professional baseball scout will touch.

Liv Milline’s family name is practically synonymous with IML baseball. Yet despite her love for the game (the tight pants aren’t bad, either) and her dreams of becoming a baseball scout–her father holds one, ironclad rule: No baseball for Olivia (the corollary: no baseball players for Olivia is just downright mean).

Her one loophole? Playing baseball beat reporter for Texas State Tech.

Chasing similar dreams, Liv attempts to befriend Breslin. But the amazingly talented, pain in her aperture has only two words to say whenever she’s around: “No comment”.

Still, she can’t help but notice the troubled ballplayer’s running on overload. Emotionally wounded and reeling from his mother’s death, the only time Breslin seems close to “ok” is on the ballfield. Liv and his new teammates can’t seem to get through.

When a lapse in judgment catches Breslin in a real-world rundown, jeopardizing his probation and his baseball scholarship, his only choice may be to rely on Liv–the aggravating, attractive, and utterly relentless reporter, chasing her latest headline.

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Eternal Ashes [Ash & Rogue 01] by Janelle Marie!

Excerpt!

Sofie stared out the window of Chief Edison’s unmarked police car, a cold sense of dread spreading through her chest as she awaited her daughter’s fate. The local hospital wasn’t far, but the ride felt like it was hours. They had left immediately after throwing on some clothes. Sofie wasn’t sure what she had grabbed, or if she should bring anything for April. What had happened? What could’ve possibly happened? Why hadn’t she come home?
The night was still and silent. Everything was so quiet and peaceful, in such stark contrast to the turmoil raging through Sofie’s whole body.
Please, let my baby girl be okay. The thought repeated itself in her head, right along with the last image she had of April walking hand-in-hand out of the pub with Drew. April’s last words to Sofie had been “I love you.” But Sofie couldn’t remember if she’d said those all-important words back to her.
Sofie’s breath clutched in her chest, her gasp disturbing the silence inside the car. Chief Edison glanced back at her through the rearview mirror, concern in his eyes despite his blank expression. Beside her, Parker took Sofie’s hand, interlocking their fingers.
Chief Edison hadn’t given them many details beyond the fact April and Drew had been in an accident. He’d shared no insight into their condition. He didn’t need to though. Sofie could read between the lines. If the kids were okay, they would have been driven home.
   April would have called.
If the kids were okay, Chief Edison would have said so instead of staying tight-lipped. His silence was a red flag. A bad omen.
Please, let my baby girl be okay…
Sofie’s vision blurred and she blinked back tears, refusing to let any fall yet. She was convinced crying prematurely would only bring bad luck. Sofie was fearing the worst, but she needed to hold on to some kind of hope. At least now, before she knew for certain how bad it was.
Maybe the kids were banged up and in shock. Maybe there were some broken bones. Maybe some concussions. Scrapes and scratches. Bruises. A bunch of stuff would heal quickly…
And maybe one day, a few weeks or months from now, they would remember this incident as a scary close-call they’d overcome. A minor setback.
Someday in the future, April and Drew would be married and in their forties, telling their kids about the bad crash they had weeks before graduating high school. Their yearbook would have pictures of all the signatures they’d gotten on their matching casts.
There was no need to panic.
No need to panic. Sofie let these words replace the chant in her head, wanting so badly to believe them. Yet, no matter how hard she tried to cling to some optimism, the prolonged drive provided ample time for dread to take hold again.

One night. One moment. One mistake.
Now life will never be the same.

In her hometown of Auburn Village, Sofie Collins has built a good life for herself and her teenage daughter, April.

Sofie’s business is growing, and they are both happily in love, with April about to graduate from high school in only a few weeks.

Life – although far from perfect – is good. But one moment is all it takes.

Just one moment and now Sofie’s world will never be the same again.

Instead of building a brighter future with each passing day, Sofie suddenly finds the happiness she found slipping further and further through her fingers.

And it seems as though all the blame and guilt lies with her…

Or does it?

This mesmerizing drama is the compelling first chapter of a story of heartbreak, betrayal and cold revenge. When her world breaks, will Sofie find the strength to rebuild the pieces? Or is she about to send it crashing down?

Release Blitz & Giveaway: Lincoln [Los Angeles Quakes Hockey 01] by Alisa Jean!

L.A. Quakes’ fans stomped their feet to cheers of “Caveman!” when I made incredible saves in the crease, leading the team to two Stanley Cup victories. I thought I could go on forever, but at thirty-six, the clock’s counting down even for Lincoln Cavanaugh. Social media and fan sites are filled with rumors of me being traded. Or worse. My future looks as uncertain as a loose puck on the ice.

My fate rests in the hands of Catherine Bishop, daughter of the team’s owner and a power to be reckoned with. And what fine hands they are, along with everything else about her. A chance encounter leads to sparks between us, but is falling in love with this incredible woman worth the risk?

Because with her by my side, I’m once again an unstoppable force between the pipes, and victories pile up like never before. However, our love is a ticking time bomb because Catherine has dreams of making history as the first female and person of color to own an NHL team. Sleeping with a player would make that all go up in smoke. I fear when the truth comes out, it will be the final buzzer for us.
