Britney’s heart pounded the second Alex’s lips touched hers. She’d been both anticipating and dreading this moment ever since she’d arrived in Hawaii. As much as her common sense told her to stop this madness, she couldn’t deny the need rising within her. Alex was like fine whiskey, tempting but full of fire.
And would undoubtedly mess her up after a few shots.
But the consequences of her actions were the last thing on her mind right now.
Even though Alex had been aggressive by initiating things, his kiss was surprisingly gentle. It spoke of hesitation, like he was asking for permission to take things further. He kept it soft and brief, practically chaste. Nothing like the kisses they’d shared in Vegas. And when he started to retreat, the longing for that passion seized control of her.
Britney wrapped her arm around his neck and threaded her fingers through his hair, holding his lips close to hers. She pulled him back with a reflex almost primal and instinctive as the desire burning inside her. She’d been dreaming of his kisses for months. And when he obtained the permission he sought, he deepened the kiss.
Oh, sweet Jesus, how that man could kiss. It was smooth and luxurious, but at the same time urgent and greedy. It was as though he’d been waiting all year to claim her as his, and now that he had the opportunity, he was determined to do a thorough job of it.
With every caress, with a sweep of his tongue, with every pleasure-filled moan that escaped, she slipped further under his spell. It wasn’t long before she caught herself wondering why she’d ever left this man.
As though he could read her thoughts, Alex ended the kiss and asked with a hint of dry sarcasm, “Are you sure you want a divorce?”
