Review: Into the Crossfire [Circle of Justice 04] by L.P. Dover!

Publication date: 28th May 2019
Paperback edition:
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Secrets.
Lies.
Betrayal.
Murder.

I’ve gotten away with it all, but that won’t last forever.

I’m Bryce Chandler, FBI agent and member of the Circle of Justice, a covert organization that metes out retribution to those who’ve escaped the system without punishment. For the last year I’ve been deep undercover, doing unspeakable things to secure my place in the mafia world. These days I barely recognize the man in the mirror, but Anthony Corsino is finally in my crosshairs.

He’s entrusted me with the one thing he loves most—his daughter, Layla. She was just another detail of the mission, until she was suddenly so much more. I never meant to fall for the enemy, but I couldn’t resist. I’m in too deep. My brothers are determined to get me out, but I can’t let them interfere. It’s my job to put down the target. However, when I do, I’ll lose the only woman I’ve ever loved and the only good thing left in my life. If I don’t, I’ll lose myself.

I've read the other books in this series and I remember really enjoying them! Unfortunately I couldn't remember what happened in them because it's been a while since I read them lol! This book can be read as a standalone though, so I was able to follow it without having to re-read any of the other books! After reading this book, I can say that I enjoyed it a lot! The plot developed at the perfect pace and it kept me intrigued and wanting to read on and find out what was going to happen next! There was also some action and suspense in the plot, which added a lot to it and actually took the plot in a completely different direction near the end by adding some twists! There was plenty of romance in the plot too and the romance allowed for quite a few seriously hot scenes between the two main characters! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Bryce was the main male character, and in this book he was on an undercover mission and was smack bang in the middle of his enemy's territory! I understood why Bryce wanted to take down this particular enemy, but his love interest changed things for Bryce and made him re-evaluate things! I loved Bryce in this book! He did come a long way and he learned who was really important in his life! I loved the way he was with his love interest too and he was very protective of her! Layla was the main female character and love interest of Bryce! I loved Layla in this book! She learned a lot about her family and about the bad things they do, but I think that Layla handed everything as best she could and she then went through a lot in this book! I loved that Layla also understood why Bryce couldn't tell her who he was at the beginning and that she let him explain instead of running away! This told me a lot about the kind of person she was! The synopsis of this book makes it sound like it's going to be written from only the male character's point of view, but I'm really happy that it was written from dual point of view like the other books have been! It made the plot better and allowed for more things to happen in it! It added more to it as well! It helped me connect and understand Bryce and Layla more too! I'm not sure if this book is the final book in this series! I can't find any information on more books, but I really hope there will be because I've loved this series, so would love to read more books! I think that all the main guys have had their stories told though, so I think that this book is the final one in the series! I can't wait to find out what this author is going to release next and I'll definitely be reading it! I still have a few of her paranormal books to read too! The cover for this book is also absolutely stunning! I loved it as soon as I saw it and I love that it has a couple on it instead of just a guy like the other covers! The cover models are the perfect Bryce and Layla too! Big thank you to L.P. Dover for an ARC of Into the Crossfire!

Blog Tour & Giveaway: More Than Anything [Broken Pieces 01] by Natasha Anders!

Publication date: 11th June 2019
Paperback edition: -
Source: Kindle
Rating: 3 stars
Synopsis: Two lovers strive to trade a grim past for a bright future in this story of bittersweet yearning.

Tina Jenson belongs to the same social stratum as Harris Chapman, but he’s out of her league—at least that’s what she thinks before they jump in bed together. It’s the perfect night, but when she overhears crude, hurtful comments the next morning, she can’t get away fast enough.

Ten years later, Tina’s life is a mess. That night with Harris didn’t just hurt her feelings; it started a cascade of disappointment and heartbreak. Every time she bumps into Harris, her heart twists inside out. She still wants him, but she’s harboring a painful secret from their night together that she’s not ready to reveal.

Crossed signals, high-society whispers, and shame have kept Tina and Harris apart for years, but deep down, they’re hungry for each other and eager to write their own rules. Can they let go of the past and find their way back to each other, or are the barriers between them too high and too strong?

I was initially attracted to the cover for this book because it's stunning! I then read the synopsis and it sounded interesting, so I grabbed an ARC and tried to read it as soon as I could! After reading this book, I have to say that I didn't enjoy it as much as I was expecting! I mean, I enjoyed the plot and the direction that it went in, but it took me a while to get into it and actually start enjoying it! The plot did develop nicely and I found myself enjoying it more as it progressed and a few more things started to happen! There was also plenty of romance in the plot and the romance allowed for a few really hot scenes between the two main characters! The ending of this book was also left at the perfect place and summed up the characters story! The characters were also great and developed the plot, but I found them slightly hard to connect with! Tina was the main female character, and I liked Tina at points in this book and then I found that she acted a bit like a stroppy teenager at other points! This made it difficult for me to connect with her and I don't normally have this issue! I understood Tina more as this book progressed and I heard her story and what she had been through! Tina also started a new career in this book and she took a big risk, but she worked hard at it! Harrison 'Harris' was the main male character and love interest of Tina! There was something intriguing about Harris in this book and I wanted to know more about him! Like Tina, there were times where I liked Harris a lot in this book and then times where he annoyed me a little! He was also a serious ass at the very beginning of this book, but he did kind of redeem himself for me as this book progressed! He also learned a big secret in this book that changed a lot for him and this did make me feel sorry for him! This book was written in third person, which I wasn't expecting! I don't normally like books being written in third person and I do think that this book would have benefited more if it had been written in first person! It was still told from both Tina and Harris' point of views, which I did enjoy! I liked that it was written from dual point of view because it helped me connect more with the two of them and understand them! It added a lot more to the plot as well, especially as Tina and Harris spent a bit of the plot apart and had a history, so it allowed for more things to happen! I now can't wait to read the next book in this duet! I know that it's going to continue the story of characters that were secondary characters in this book! This has me very intrigued because they did go through a lot as a couple in this book, so I'm intrigued to read their story and see what's going to happen for them! I really hope that Tina and Harris make some appearances in it! The cover for this book is also absolutely stunning! As I said at the beginning, it's what drew me to the book! I love it a lot and it's so pretty! The cover models are the perfect Tina and Harris! Big thank you to Natasha, Montlake Romance and Netgalley for an ARC of More Than Anything!

Blog Tour & Giveaway: The Friend Zone [End of the Line 01] by Sariah Wilson!

Publication date: 11th June 2019
Paperback edition: -
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Disgraced college quarterback Logan Hunt was on his way to NFL stardom when he messed up big-time. Now the Texas star player with a bad temper has a new option: Seattle’s EOL College—as in End of the Line, to his fellow misfit recruits. It’s Logan’s last chance. If he can follow the rules. No parties, no fighting, no swearing, and oh, no dating the coach’s daughter, Jess. Simple. Yeah, right. For Logan, there has never been a rule he’s more tempted to break.

The deal is “just friends.” The pretty, confident, and fiercely smart math whiz is fine with pizza, tutoring, and keeping Logan in line. But the closer Jess gets, the more receptive she is to his warm heart and spirit—not to mention his irresistible off-field passes. With defenses down, they’re both heading into the danger zone.

It’s more than thrilling. It’s love. It’s also a game changer that could sideline Logan’s NFL goals—and more important, a future with Jess. But dreams are worth fighting for, right?

I haven't read any of this author's books and I hadn't heard about this book until the publisher emailed me and this book was included in the email! The cover and synopsis intrigued me, so I downloaded a copy and read it as soon as I could! After reading this book, I have to say that I enjoyed it a lot! The plot developed at a nice pace and it kept me interested and wanting to find out what was going to happen next! I loved the direction that the author took the plot in as well! I mean, it was kinda easy to work out what was going to happen next, but I was so invested in the main characters relationship that I didn't care lol! There was also plenty of romance in the plot and a few hot scenes between the two main characters! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Jess was the main female character, and in this book she worked hard and she had her head on straight! Jess had also been through a horrible situation and this made me feel so sorry for her, but Jess was a strong character that had come a long way! I also connected with her in this book and found her to be a very likeable character! I loved the way she was with her love interest too and it was beautiful to see her feelings for him grow! Logan was the main male character and love interest of Jess! I loved Logan a lot in this book! I actually thought that he was going to maybe be a bit of an ass or quite big-headed, but he wasn't at all! Logan was also seriously hot too and he had been through a lot in his childhood! This meant that he worked hard in this book to make sure that he did something with his life! This made me have a lot of respect for him! I loved the way that Logan was with Jess too and it was easy to see how much he loved her! I loved that this book was written from both Jess and Logan's point of views! I wasn't sure if it was going to be before I started reading as the synopsis gives the impression that it's only going to be written from the male character's point of view, so I was really happy when I started reading and discovered that it was written from dual point of view! It helped me connect and understand Jess and Logan more and it allowed for a few more things to happen in the plot, especially as they didn't spend every minute of the plot together and had their own goals! I can also completely understand why this book is a standalone! I'm really sad that it is because I would love to read more on Jess and Logan, but the ending was left at the perfect place and was very beautiful! I now can't wait to read more books from this author! I know that she has quite a few released, so I can't wait to give some of them a read! The cover for this book is also absolutely perfect for it! I love it a lot and it would definitely draw me to the book! It suits the feel of the book too and the cover model is the perfect Logan! Big thank you to Sariah, Montlake Romance and Netgalley for an ARC of The Friend Zone!

Cover Reveal: Control Freak by Brianna Hale!

Total control. I need it in every aspect of my life. Some would say that makes me an asshole. A freak. But as long as everything’s exactly how I want it, I’m completely flexible.

I’m kidding.

Okay, I’m not kidding.

Lacey needs someone in her life who’s bigger and scarier than her demons, and she wants that man to be me. Her boss. The Viking in a suit.

I hope she understands what she’s getting into. This daddy isn’t going to pat her on the head and tell her she’s a good girl for nothing. Especially not when she’s spinning out of control.
