Book Blitz & Giveaway: Beautiful Lies by Paula Dombrowiak!

Excerpt!

The room feels hot as I let my eyes travel down his sharp jawline to the tattoo snaking up his neck and knowing that it curves around his broad shoulder, down his back and over his ribs. He steps forward, capturing me with his eyes, and pinning me with his body.
“Do I make you nervous, Lake?” he asks, making me swallow hard. “You were hoping you’d never see me again? Is that it?”
   “Exactly.”
“And why is that,” His finger gently travels down my arm, leaving goosebumps in its wake. “when you seemed to enjoy your birthday present so much?” Adrian’s lip pulls up at the corner.
“How did you…” I pinch my eyebrows together.
   “My sister,” he explains.
“Of course,” I grumble. “Well, don’t act so f*cking smug about it,” I say, annoyed that he’s able to get under my skin.
“Tell me you haven’t been thinking about me.” His eyes travel to the pulse in my neck.
I have been thinking about him.
A bead of sweat forms in the hollow, and his eyes follow as it falls below the neckline of my dress. He licks his lips, and the action causes my stomach to tighten. “Because I sure as f*ck have been thinking about you.”
   That’s lie number four.
With hooded eyes, he stares down at me, his lips hovering close to mine, and I suck in a breath the minute his hip presses into me; knowing exactly how it would feel to kiss him, to sink into those soft lips, to feel the dominant way he slips his tongue into my mouth, scares me.
   And I don’t scare easily.
Shaking my head I slip through the door, letting it close behind me and I lean against the wall to catch my breath. The restaurant is now cleared out, the hall is empty, and I’m struck by a thought. Yanking the door back open, I lean in and ask, “How old are you?”
   “Thirty-one,” he smirks.
“Jesus f*cking Christ,” I say, annoyed by his cocky grin. Before I let the door go, I lean in and say, “Oh, by the way, nice f*cking skateboard under your bed.” I let the door go and walk down the hallway.
“I haven’t used that skateboard in a long time!” he yells in amusement at my back as I turn the corner in a huff.

I own the boardroom. He owns the stage. We were never meant to be together, but when something’s forbidden, it only makes you want it more.

My jaded heart was determined never to be fooled again. There’s too much at stake, and my daughter always comes first.

And then one night, on the eve of my forty-third birthday, I walked into a bar, and locked eyes with Adrian Corvin.

He’s a musician, covered in tattoos… and way too young. He’s the opposite of everything I should want.

When he followed me outside of the bar, not even the Arizona monsoon could keep me from kissing him.

With just one taste, I was an addict.

It was only supposed to be one night.

No names, no expectations, and no truths.

Only lies.

And he tells beautiful lies.
