Blog Tour & Giveaway: Wild Thing [The Wild Westbrooks 05] by Cassie-Anne L. Miller!

Excerpt!

Karli

The unused bathroom pipe coughs melodramatically before spewing out a heavy stream of rusty water. When the water clears up, I stand under the hot spray, allowing myself to breathe for the first time in days.
But as I start scrubbing my body, the heavy ache between my legs reminds me of the sexy stranger from the motel. Shit.
Still trying not to think about him. It’s not working.
Full disclosure—I wasn’t myself last night. That girl who threw herself at a random dude in a dingy dive bar parking lot? That’s not Karli Brighton.
I wasn’t lying when I told Mr. Pretty Boy that I don’t do one night stands. No shade on anyone who does, but the wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am thing just isn’t my jam.
Last night, though? Something just came over me. I think that, after all the rejection I faced these past few days, I wanted to feel…wanted. Come on. Twelve different fuck you’s from twelve different medical schools? Ouch.
Pretty Boy on the other hand…well, there was definitely no rejection happening there. Touching him and letting him touch me felt good in the moment. But in the after-sex stillness, as he basked in the happy-making hormones of his own orgasms, I found myself struggling not to give in to the razor-sharp talons of my guilt.
Sigh. Why are us girls so hard on ourselves?
Still trying to shove all thoughts of the mystery man from the motel far from my mind, I get out of the shower. I dart to my bedroom wrapped in my towel, and dig through my backpack. I find a few more pairs of clean underwear identical to the ones I shucked off earlier. Pink and white tiger-stripes. Cotton with lacy ruffles. So cute. And who can pass up a six-for-$10 deal? Especially in this economy? Sheesh!
As I apply some moisturizer, I go over my plan for this morning. Unload my car. Get settled in. Do a quick grocery store run. Maybe drive across town to check on my bestie. But first, breakfast. Because after skipping dinner last night then ‘doing the dirty’ well into the wee hours of the morning, I’m in desperate need of sustenance.
I tug my college sweatshirt back on, pop in my earbuds and turn on my favorite Rockhard Butterflies playlist. On my way to the kitchen, I say a silent prayer that there’s something edible in this house.
Not surprisingly, there isn’t much in the fridge, but I thank my lucky stars when I find some coffee beans at the back of the pantry. I’m on my tiptoes, reaching for my favorite old mug on the top cupboard shelf when I feel the air shift around me.
I pause. I don’t hear anything different because my music is still blasting through my earbuds, but I can sense it immediately. Someone is in the house with me. Shit. Oh, shit.
My panicked brain immediately snaps to all the self-defense moves my five older brothers forced me to learn in my childhood. I spin around, ready to do some made-up, on-the-fly form of kung fu, when I come face to face with…
   Him.
   Sexy stranger from the motel.
My mouth gapes wide. My cherished mug slips from my hands. It hits the tile floor with a crash.

When I went back to that dingy motel room with the tempting stranger from the bar, I had no idea that he was my older brother’s best friend. And my soon-to-be roommate.

I’m Karli Brighton, reigning Queen of Epic Screw-Ups.
With twelve med school rejection letters burning a hole in my back pocket, I’m back in my quirky hometown for the summer. Grumpy and shame-faced, I’m not exactly in the mood to make new friends.

Having a wild one-night stand with the charming pretty boy I meet at a local bar to feel better about myself? Probably not the smartest idea.
But in the morning when I crawl out of his sweaty motel sheets, I take comfort in knowing that I’ll never see the gorgeous stranger again.

Until he strolls into my family home one hour later.
Suitcases in hand. Shock painted on his perfect face.
Gasoline, meet Dumpster Fire. Ka-boom!!

The mystery man is my brother’s best friend. He just moved to town to help out with my family’s medical clinic.
Dr. Walks-Around-In-His-Bath-Towel is off-limits to me. But now, he's staying in the bedroom across the hallway.
Just my luck.

Mason and I are at a stalemate.
I need a place to lick my wounds while I figure out my next move.
He needs a roof over his head while he builds a new life for himself.
We each have so much to lose. Especially if my brother discovers our secret.

So we both promise to keep our hands to ourselves.
Lines are drawn in the sand. House rules are signed in ink.
The bathroom schedule is sealed with a handshake.

This won’t be so bad. Right…? Maybe…?
We’ll see.

But then our ‘snarky banter’ leads to 'heated kisses’ leads to ‘more’…Yikes. We’re headed for disaster.

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Seduction at Sea by Gwen Kleist!

Excerpt!

“I’ve been waiting to get you alone all night.”
Desire engulfed her as Michael spoke, the rich baritone of his voice the last sensical thing to register in her brain before pleasure took over.
Michael’s arms encircled her as they stepped onto the Promenade Deck, and he swung her into his embrace. In two steps he had her backed against the ship’s wooden rail, the soft Hawaiian breeze ruffling her hair as his lips covered hers. Rachel melted into the kiss, humming her approval as his hands rose to cup her cheeks.
She plunged her hands into his hair. At the wedding, it had been slicked back and stiff with product. But now, the thick, soft locks ran smoothly through her fingers. He groaned in response and she dug her hands in deeper, tugging her fingers through his hair.
At last, he released her from the kiss. Her head tilted upward as she caught her breath, and the stars above swirled in the inky blue sky.
“I think you are trying to seduce me.”
His expression broke into a devilish smile. “What gives you that idea?”
“Well, it started yesterday with those amazing tacos,” Rachel mused, running her fingertips up his spine. “Damn, they were good. And then our slow dance at the wedding. And that kiss against the palm tree didn’t hurt either.”
He buried his face in her neck and murmured something unintelligible. Rachel’s knees went weak.
Her eyes drifted closed as he kissed her neck. “And let’s not forget your hand was practically in my panties at dinner.”
“Those aren’t even my best moves.”
   “Whatever you’re doing, it’s working.”
“Good.” Michael lowered his head and kissed her again. Then he whispered, lips still pressed to hers, “I’ve been fighting the urge to seduce you for days.”
She ran her hand down his back and rested it brazenly on his ass. He was all muscle, tight and hot. The live music playing in the atrium floated around them, a whisper in the wind as they stood on the ship’s open deck. Her head was still spinning from their kiss, and she savored the moment, yearning for more.
Rachel thought about Emma’s words the night before she left for this trip. If the opportunity arises for romance and adventure, go for it. Don’t let life pass you by. You deserve to have a little fun.
She did deserve to have a little fun. There was still a whole week left on this cruise. Why not spend it with him? Her mind was alert and her body aroused, quivering with need, suddenly excited to explore the possibilities. “Do you remember when I said I wasn’t going to sleep with you?”
   He swallowed hard. “Yeah.”
“I may have changed my mind.”
Michael groaned and kissed her again, rougher this time. Heat and need raced through her body.
“Let’s go to my room,” she whispered against his mouth.
“You should know if I take you to your cabin, it isn’t going to be for an innocent kiss against a palm tree.” His expression was earnest and pure, and it made Rachel want him even more.
   “Promise?”

She’s determined to keep her distance. He’s determined not to let her…

Rachel Hennessey always puts her career first. So when an important client pushes up a launch date, Rachel is all in on making it happen. Even if that means working through her cousin’s wedding cruise. Until she finds out the guy who once broke her heart and nearly derailed her career is the best man. But while he might be able to distract her as they sail around the Hawaiian Islands, she will not fall for him. Not again, anyway…

Michael Porter never thought he’d see Rachel again. But if fate wants to give him a second chance with the one who got away, he’s not about to fight it. Just months after selling his share of a seven-figure business, Michael is at a crossroads in life. A luxury cruise seems like the perfect time to evaluate his next move. Now all he has to do is figure out what he did to make Rachel hate him so much so he can make it right.

All it takes is a little forced proximity—and a lot of hot chemistry—to show Rachel and Michael how perfect they could be for each other. But when the vacation ends, can their happily ever after begin? Or will this seduction at sea end in yet another heartache?

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Cusp of Redemption [Cusp 02] by Olivia Preya!

Excerpt!

“Then what aren’t you getting, Naya?” I grasped her shoulders and slid my hands along her neck to cup her face. “You are my life. My purpose. We were separated for a decade—ten fucking years. I have you back, safe and sound, and you’re throwing yourself into danger? Baby, take mercy on me, because I’m losing my fucking mind with the need to protect you. I’m consumed by thoughts of you every minute of every day–are you happy? Are you sad? Are there enough blankets on the bed? Did I leave food in the fridge for when you get home? And only when those questions are answered can I focus on whatever I need to. Because when you’re gone, at a stake out or with Adaliya, I can’t help but fucking pine for you. So no, I don’t think you’re fully aware of how dangerous this Percy job is, Naya. I’m at risk of losing you and I’ll burn the fucking world to the ground if I do.”
Her soft hands grasped my wrists and gently lowered them. A direct contrast to the fury still burning in her eyes.
“I don’t think you understand, Salvatore.” She stepped back. “You’re describing what I’ve felt every second I’ve known you. Every second I’ve loved you. From teenagers to now. I’ve had to sit back and watch as you throw yourself into underground fights, collect Cafarelli payments from the worst of the worst, and be an integral part of one of the most revered and targeted criminal organizations in the world. But you’re worth it, the terror and the unknown. Because a life without you is a hell I don’t want to ever live through again.”

Salvatore de Marco

It was always about her.
Taking care of her.
Making sure she had everything she needed.
School. Apartment. Living expenses.
I took care of it all. For her.
And I’ll never regret the decisions I made to keep the smile on her face.

But she left me once, and I’ll be damned before I let her leave again. As the Cafarelli family enforcer, I can provide her with more than I could before–money and protection. I’ll do everything in my power to protect her from whatever demon made her run the first time. But what if it turns out the demon was me?
If there’s one thing I know, it’s that our connection is undeniable; I can feel how hot she is for me.
Even if she won’t admit it.
Yet.

Naya Okpara

It took a long time to get to where I am now.
From foster kid to private investigator, I do whatever it takes to get the job done.
Even if that means working for the Cafarelli family.

I thought he was long gone—a distant memory tainted by a figure from our past. But time and distance did nothing to ease my hunger for his touch. Nor did it erase the betrayals that shattered me.
When the man who lights my skin on fire appears before me, I’m forced to face the realities I spent years avoiding. Now, Salvatore and I are working for the same family, and I can’t let the connection of our past ruin my future.

But what if he is my future?

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Saint Con by Seelie Kay!

Excerpt!

Her best friend, Sadie English, who had been waiting for her return, giggled. “I’ve heard about catching diseases from public toilets, but I’ve never heard about catching a man.” A sly expression crossed her sweet face, and she extended her hand to Connor. “Hello, I’m Sadie. What apple cart did you fall off of?” She tossed her head of burgundy pink-tipped curls and her stylishly trimmed eyebrows pitched up over curious brown eyes.
Connor rolled his eyes as he took the stool next to Jessica. “Name’s Con.” He shook her hand. “Both lawyers?”
Sadie burst out laughing. “Hell, no. I enjoy my life. You won’t find me trapped in some windowless office working sixty hours a week. I’m into bagels.” Sadie pointed at the tee shirt she was wearing, bearing the words, bagels are my everything.
   Con made a face. “Bagels?”
Sadie grinned. “My family owns Bagels & More. We make twenty kinds of bagels daily.”
Jessica nodded. “Not just bagels, but bagelwiches and bagel cakes and stuffed bagels. My favorite is the egg-in-the-hole bagel.”
Connor studied Sadie. “I think I know your father. Tall, thin, gray hair? Name of Jeb?”
Sadie stared at him. “How the heck do you know my father? I’ve never seen you in the store and believe me, I’d remember.”
“St. Ben’s Social Justice Committee. I’m the chair.”
Sadie’s jaw dropped. “You’re the guy with the traveling justice center? The guy who got kicked out of the seminary and became a lawyer?”
“Or, as your father claims, got dumped into the devil’s lair.”
Sadie bounced up and down on her stool, her eyes wide with excitement. “My God, I can’t believe it.” She grabbed onto Jessica to steady herself. “Jess, this is the guy I told you about. He travels around Milwaukee County offering legal services to the unhoused. In an old food truck.” She bounced again. “And you have a motorcycle. You’re a biker. Not that kind of biker, but a member of God’s Warriors. You guys are amazing. You do so much good, but in secret.” Sadie pounded on Jessica’s back. “I can’t believe he’s that guy.”
Jessica’s eyes narrowed, and she stared at Con. “She’s kidding, right? You’re not Saint Con.” She shook her head in disbelief. Even she had heard of the guy. She nudged Sadie. “Trust me, he’s no saint. He hit on me.”

It was a night dreams are made of, until the man of Jessica Knight’s dreams disappears.

When self-proclaimed good girl Jessica Knight literally bumps into apparent bad boy Connor O’Brien in a suburban Milwaukee wine bar, she is skeptical—of his intentions and the prospect for real love. A former priest, Saint Con is now a street lawyer for Milwaukee’s homeless. After a night of sizzling romance, Jess begins to thaw, and in the days that follow, she is so charmed by Con that she allows herself to start falling in love. Unfortunately, on their first real date, Con fails to appear. Jess doesn’t know if she’s been ghosted or if Con was unavoidably detained, but she leaves their meeting spot devastated.

Until she discovers that Con is missing. Really missing.

The police won’t help because he’s not a vulnerable adult nor is there proof that he has been harmed. So, it falls to Jess and her friends to find him. After surmounting numerous obstacles, Con is finally found, gravely injured and in a coma. Suddenly, it appears a promising love match may be over before it really began.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Home For the Challah Days [Holidays, Heart and Chutzpah 01] by Jennifer Wilck!

Excerpt!

Aaron wiped the counter with a rag, scrubbing so hard he wouldn’t be surprised if he wore a hole in the old Formica. Easing the rag away from the superclean area, he placed a piece of wax paper on the counter and grabbed two slices of rye bread. The din of the packed deli faded into the background.
   Sarah Abrams.
His stomach clenched. Of all the people to walk into his deli, he’d never expected her. He’d hoped at one time that she’d change her mind and decide this is where she belonged. Dreamed about her for longer than he’d like to admit—how her long, dark hair brushed his chest when she leaned over and kissed him, how her soft lips teased his, how her olive skin slid smoothly beneath his hands. He’d even broken an engagement with another woman because he couldn’t get Sarah out of his head. But expected? It had been ten years.
“I asked for pumpernickel,” the wizened old man complained across the counter.
Aaron looked at the sandwich, swore under his breath and threw the rye slathered in mustard in the trash.
“Gloria!” He shouted down the line toward an older woman with a brown apron covering her T-shirt and jeans. She patted the shoulder of the woman she was speaking to and strode over.
   “Yeah?”
His six-foot frame towered over her, and she craned her neck to meet his gaze.
“Can you take over for me? He wants…” He turned to the customer. Age and disappointment conspired to make the old man resemble a shar-pei. Aaron shook his head and ushered Gloria forward. “Sorry, she’ll make your sandwich. And it’s on the house.”
Wiping his hands on his apron, he weaved through the staff behind the counter. When he reached his tiny office tucked in the back, he shut the door and sank into the rickety-wheeled desk chair. He ground his teeth until his jaw ached. Other parts of his body used to ache when he was around Sarah in high school and college. They’d been inseparable. Her smile, with the one tooth a little crooked in the front, brightened any bad day. Her husky voice soothed him. Now, though?
Disappointment simmered. She’d promised him forever and broken his heart, walking away from this town—from him—without a thought for the people she’d left behind.

Options:

Turning the bitterness of the past…

Into a sweet future!

When big-city advocate Sarah Abrams returns home for the High Holy Days, she’s got a lot on her mind—especially whether to marry her perfect-on-paper boyfriend. But after Aaron and Sarah join forces to fight an act of hate, it’s clear that their deep connection never abated. If only they could forgive one another for the past…in time for a sweet new start!

Book Blitz & Giveaway: The Immortal Tailor [The Immortal Tailor 01] by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff!

Excerpt!

“I don’t want to talk about it.” The fairy turned away and looked out the window.
He cocked a brow. “Did something frighten you? You mentioned before in the bathroom that you did not want to be taken back.”
She clamped her little red lips shut and crossed her sparkly pale arms, refusing to look at him.
“If you tell me what is going on, perhaps I can help.” A lie. He did not care what happened to her. He cared for no one. It was for their own good, of course.
She sighed with an odd little peep at the end and looked at him. “I was in her purse when I thought I heard him.”
   Damien frowned. “Him who?”
   “One of the Brown brothers.”
The Brown brothers were the men who owned the exotic salsa company in San Diego. “One of the brothers was there at the mall that day?”
“Yes. No. Maybe? Oh! You have nice lips. Very pouty. Can I play in your mouth?”
   “No.”
“How about a taint massage?” She wiggled her little finger at him in a scratching motion.
Gods help me. Sex fairies were known to be easily distracted and wildly horny, but this one seemed a bit much. He needed to get the info and send her on her way. “You are not getting anywhere near my taint. Now tell me why you attacked—”
   “I meant my taint.”

THE IMMORTAL WORLD IS IN TROUBLE, AND THE GODS DEMAND . . . THEIR TAILOR COME TO THE RESCUE?

Long ago, Damien Greystone hung up his guns, knives, and rope for the quiet life of a tailor. Sure, his clients now include the likes of bloodthirsty vampires, a hair-obsessed Bigfoot, and fourteen insane deities, but at least Damien doesn’t have to kill anymore. And, sure, he’s been cursed to live alone for all eternity, but nobody’s life is perfect. Right?

Unfortunately, his monk-like existence is about to come to a screeching halt. The gods’ powers are on the fritz, and they’re demanding his help.

But when Damien starts investigating, he meets Sky Morales, a beautiful journalist who’s up to her ears in danger (and one very aggressive fairy). He has no choice but to dust off his weapons.

Can he protect her without getting too close? Because his “curse of solitude” doesn’t negotiate, and bad things will happen to Sky if he so much as feels a flutter of affection.

And as if that pressure weren’t enough, his precious store is being looked after by a love-sucking demon and a punk chick who has a knack for insulting everyone. Bigfoot isn’t pleased.

The sooner Damien can get this job done, the faster he can get back to his peaceful life. If only he weren’t enjoying getting his hands dirty again. Just like the good old days that got him in trouble.

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Fighting for the Truth [Finding the Truth 04] by A.B. Medley!

Excerpt!

She stares at me as her lower lip trembles before finally crawling under the covers. I hear her sniffle as she tries to fight back her emotions. I walk around the bed to where she’s turned on her side so I can see her face. This time she doesn’t meet my eyes, she stares blankly at something behind me.
I kneel and tuck a few loose strands of hair behind her ear. “You mean more to me than anyone ever has, dolcezza. You can trust that.”
She peers at me sadly as she rapidly blinks tears away. “Did you love her? Did she take my place when you left me behind? It was her, wasn’t it?”
“What are you talking about?” I ask.
“Did she get all your firsts, Hawk?” she asks in a pain-stricken tone.
I pull my hand back, unsure how to answer, but my silence is answer enough. I thought I loved Angel back then, but I realize now nothing about it was love. Infatuation and running from my demons landed me in her arms. And regrettably, I did share my first time with her instead of Brittney like I should have. Angel is the definition of deceit. If you look it up in the dictionary, her picture should be beside it.
Brittney closes her eyes, and the tears leak down her nose and into her hair. I attempt to wipe them away, but she whispers a plea, “Please don’t.”
   “Baby…” I start.
Her watery gaze focuses on me. “I know you care. I even believe you love me, Hawk. But I don’t think you’re in love with me. Not in the same way I’m in love with you. It’s only ever been you since we were kids.”
I stare at her in surprise. I don’t know how to respond. I do think I’m in love with her, but I’m not going to drag her into what it means to be a Rossi. My grandfather made it clear I owe him for his help. The debt will be settled by taking on the role he thinks I should. My feelings for Brittney can’t save me from that fate.
You’ve always been mine to love and to hate…

Small towns have a way of making you face your past.

And there’s two sides to every story.

Hawk and Brittney met as kids in a time when they both needed someone.

Their worlds were already in a state of unrest when an unexpected betrayal stripped them bare.

Words of hate were uttered and promises broken, leaving them bitter enemies.

One is left fighting for the truth, while the other is left with nothing but a dream.

But time and distance can’t separate them forever and fate seemingly intervenes.

Lines blur as they realize things may not have been what they seemed, and old feelings are resurrected.

But amid salvaging their connection comes another fight.

Hawk’s murky past catches up to him and Brittney is thrust in the middle, leaving him no choice but to fight once more to save the girl he realizes he’s always loved.

Even if it means destroying her dreams and wrecking her heart.

Fighting for her is the only thing that matters, and this is one battle he won’t lose.

Winner takes heart.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Stay For Summer by Violet Stafford!

Excerpt!

Laughter bubbled up, sticking in my chest when my breath whooshed out as Ford landed on top of me smack in the mud.
“Shit, I’m so sorry,” he said, his hands wrist-deep in muck as he tried to brace his weight and lift himself off of me.
“It’s okay,” I said, breathless from the fall.
The expression on his face as he lay over me was pure horror. I was pretty sure he expected a different reaction than the smile I gave him. Taking advantage, I scooped mud into my hands where they rested at my sides. I kept my smile in place and my eyes on his, hoping he hadn’t noticed my covert movements. When I’d gathered a good layer, I brought my hands up and pressed them to his cheeks, slowly smearing the thick mud down his ruggedly handsome face.
Ford went perfectly still and I wondered if I’d gone too far. Very slowly, his hands came up and pressed against my neck, smearing a layer of mud down my throat and onto my shoulders.
   I gasped.
“Now we’re even,” he said with a grin.
My pulse sped. My skin tingled where his fingers trailed. He noticed my reaction and slowed, taking his time as his hands travelled down the length of my arm. Somewhere along the way the movement turned sensual, the mud forgotten—or maybe it only added to the moment. When he reached my hands, he took them in his own and lifted them until my arms were locked loosely around his neck. Then, he let go and trailed his hands up my shoulders and throat, stroking my cheek and tangling in my hair.
He leaned closer, but it wasn’t fast enough for my tastes. I raised my head and brought my lips to his, meeting him halfway. His mouth was warm and hard against mine, but it wasn’t enough. I wanted more. I parted my lips and let my tongue skim the inside of his lip. With a growl, he pressed down, crushing his mouth to mine. It was empowering, knowing that small act on my part had removed some sort of barrier. I wondered what else he was holding back—and if I had the power to unleash it.

The hot new farmhand that just sat down at my dinner table is the definition of why I swore off relationships.

He’s smart, charming, and just as handsome as he is sure of himself.

He is exactly the type I want nothing to do with—not as a fling and certainly not as something more.

Not that it matters what I want since he’s leaving in a few months, anyway.

Hooking up would be a recipe for heartbreak.

So, why do I find myself staring into those hypnotic blue eyes and longing for the feel of those sun-kissed hands?

No matter what happens next, I swear to myself I won’t ask him to stay.
