Cover Reveal & Giveaway: The Art of Keeping Faith [Uni Files 02] by Anna Bloom!

Lilah and Ben. They are meant to be a thing.

Well they were. The best thing ever. That was until Lilah decided to teach herself a lesson, and let go of Ben as she learnt The Art of Letting Go.

Now it’s a new academic year, and Lilah has it all to play for and it all too lose as she battles scary lecturers, evil PR girls and her own inability to make the right decision at the right time.

Life has moved on for Lilah and her friends, and life off campus is more complicated than any of them would have guessed. As the reality of being second year students sets in and the study starts to build up, cracks begin to appear in the very fabric of their friendships. There is a chance that none of them are going to complete Year Two in one piece.

Facing down her worst enemy: herself. Lilah has to try and change her own past mistakes when she realises that the only way she is going to get the future she wants is if she manages to learn The Art of Keeping Faith in herself.

The Art of Keeping Faith is the second year in The Uni File Series and continues Lilah McCannon’s diary as she searches for love, tries to find and earn trust, and ultimately discovers who she is really meant to be.

Sometimes the only way to meet your future is to face your past.

This is the part where I’m supposed to tell you about myself. I could tell you that I am a romance writer. Or that I have my first novel coming out in 2014. Sure, I could tell you those kind of things. Like where I’m from, when I was born, etc. etc.  But I’m not particularly fond of traditional bio’s, so I’ll list some fun, or at the very least, interesting, facts about myself instead.
  • I like pumpkin spice lattes in the fall, Halloween, and snowflakes.
  • Early morning is my favorite time of day, and I prefer a good sunrise over a sunset.
  • My mother’s my best friend (and I’m not afraid to admit it)!
  • I’m a chocolate fanatic, coffee fanatic, and wine fanatic — overall fanatic.
  • For me, writing is a process that cannot be rushed.
  • I dream of having a point in my life, where I take three months and do nothing but travel to exotic places.
  • My family is the most important thing to me.
  • I love gardening and tend to have a green thumb outdoors , but will kill any indoor plant almost instantaneously.
  • I used to dream of opening a little bakery/coffee shop, where I’d sell books.
  • I used to be anti-Kindle until I got my first one, then I ate my own words because I could never go without one again.
  • My favorite holiday is Easter. Oh, and I’m a big sucker for Valentines Day. I always have been.
  • My favorite color is that particular light green color used for baby clothes. What is it? Sea-foam?
  • I have an obsessive personality, ( I got it honest. Thanks Mom.) but, thank heavens, it seems to be limited only to my work.

Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway: Tempting Rowan [Trace + Olivia 03] by Micalea Smeltzer!

“Alright, I’m done,” I forced a small smile for Trent. “Should you go grab that ferret food you need?”
“Who said anything about ferret food?” He winked, heading towards the checkout.
I groaned, tilting my head back to look up at the ceiling. “You little liar. Do you even have a ferret?”
“Yeah, he just doesn’t need any food right now,” Trent shrugged, looking for a line that wasn’t too long.
“Then why’d you tell me you were here for ferret food?” I continued to fire questions at him.
“It would be creepy if I said I came here because I saw your car. Ferret food seemed like a safe excuse,” he chuckled.
“You’re ridiculous,” I shook my head, letting my long hair hide my face.
“Hey, I got to spend time with you, and you got to spend time with me. So, I’d say it was a win-win situation, wouldn’t you?” He raised a brow as he reached into the cart to begin placing items on the conveyer belt.
“Who said I ever wanted to spend time with you?” I snapped.
His eyes flicked up to mine and hurt flashed briefly in the blue depths before being replaced by mischief. “You don’t have to say it, Row. Your body does all the talking, and your body is attracted to my body.”
“Keep dreaming,” I mumbled, wrapping my arms protectively across my torso.
“Oh, I don’t have to,” his lips quirked up in a smile, “it won’t be long till you see things my way. I’ve been told that I’m very persuasive.”
“I’m guessing that you were the kid that was never told ‘no’ as a child,” I quipped.
“Oh, I was told no plenty of times. Everyone knows my brother is the favorite. Personally, I don’t get it. The guy dresses like he’s going into the woods to cut down some trees, he says the weirdest things, and he’s a pain in the ass.” Shrugging, he added, “Don’t worry though, the lack of attention didn’t ruin my childhood. I’m perfectly okay,” he spread his arms wide. “There’s no need to feel sorry for me, but if you’d like to kiss me and make it all better, I won’t complain.”
I rolled my eyes. “I’m not kissing you.”
“You’ve kissed me before, Rowan,” he smirked. Leaning in, so his lips brushed my ear, he whispered, “In fact, we’ve done a lot more than kiss.”
My cheeks flamed and I put both of my hands against his muscular chest, giving him a shove. He chuckled.
“You can’t deny the facts, Row.”
I chose to ignore him, shoving the cart forward so I could start loading the plastic bags. The cashier announced the total, and I reached for my wallet, but Trent was already pulling out a credit card.
“Nope, no way, put that thing away,” I warned. I was not letting Trent buy my groceries. I didn’t need his charity.
“Row, don’t be difficult,” he went to swipe his card.
“Don’t even think about swiping that card, Trenton.” My voice was icy cold. I was pissed.
“You mean like this?” He blinked his eyes innocently and swiped the card.
“Cancel that!” I pointed at the cashier. She looked at me like I had lost my mind…maybe I had.
“Uh…” She looked from me to Trent and back again.
“Don’t listen to her,” Trent waved a hand dismissively. “My girlfriend likes to assert her independence by buying the groceries. But I’m a man, and that’s my job. She really needs to stop getting her panties in such a bunch.”
My mouth fell open as the cashier handed him the receipt. “I’m not your girlfriend.” I don’t know why those were the first words to leave my mouth.
“Oh honey, you always say such hurtful things when you’re on your period. I should’ve gotten you a brownie,” he smirked, throwing a smile over his shoulder at the cashier. We sure were giving her an entertaining evening.
Trent pushed me aside and rolled the cart out into the night. He headed straight to where my car was parked and I wasn’t surprised to see his shiny black car parked beside it. “Open the trunk,” he demanded, already grabbing up bags.
   “I don’t need your help.”
He looked at me peculiarly. “I never said you did need my help, but I want to help you, and there’s a big difference. Besides, Row, accepting help doesn’t make you any less of an independent person. I know you’re all for girl power and doing things by yourself, but it’s okay to let someone else step in and take care of you.”
I swallowed thickly, looking down at the ground so he couldn’t see the tears in my eyes. I opened the trunk and stepped back, hoping he didn’t see how upset I was.
No one had ever taken care of me. I was raising Ivy, Tristan, and myself.
Nobody cared about me, and if I let Trent in I’d get spoiled to having him, then he’d leave and I’d be even more shattered than I was now. He got all the groceries in the trunk and reached up to close it.
My breath fogged the chilly air as I forced myself to thank him. “Thank you,” I finally squeaked after an awkward silence.
He laughed—and oh my God how I loved his laugh, it was husky and masculine, and perfect like him. “It really killed you to say that, didn’t it?”
I shrugged. “No one ever helps me, so I’m not used to thanking people.”
   “That’s really sad,” he frowned.
“It’s the truth,” I pushed my hair out of my eyes, heading for the driver’s door. “I’ll see you…sometime.”
   “Row?”
“Yeah?” I turned back around and he was right there.
He reached out, caging me between his arms, his hands resting on the rusted hood of my car.
“Goodnight,” he whispered huskily, and then he kissed me. It wasn’t really a kiss, more a brush of his lips, but it was enough to ignite a fire in my body. I found myself leaning in, wanting more, but he was already gone.
I opened my eyes, which I hadn’t realized I closed, and saw him getting into his car wearing a proud smirk.
He drove away and I still stood there in the cold. I was in a daze, shocked by his brazenness and how much I’d enjoyed the barely there touch of our lips. My heart raced against my ribcage and I reached up to place shaking fingers against my lips. I was so screwed.

I’m drowning in the numbness. It’s pulling me under and I can’t see the surface. It’s easier to pretend I can’t feel. And the longer you pretend, the easier it is to believe. But he wants to save me. Only he can’t. I have to save myself…and I don’t know if I want to.

Rowan Sinclair’s life has been anything but easy. With an alcoholic mother and a sleazy stepfather, it’s been her responsibility to raise her younger siblings. At twenty-one she’s chained to a life she doesn’t want, but sees no other alternative. After all, what would happen to her brother and sister if she were to leave?

Trenton Wentworth sees the pain behind Rowan’s eyes. He wants nothing more than to make it disappear. To hold her. To love her. Except Rowan keeps everyone at a safe distance. But if there’s anyone that can break down the walls she’s built around herself, it’s Trent. So she avoids him at all costs. But Trent isn’t one to be easily evaded. He’s stubborn and determined. He’ll save this girl even if it costs him everything.

Love, lies, and deception.

That’s the name of the game when you’re Tempting Rowan.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Resisting Atlantis [Atlantis 01] by Jamie Canosa!

Publication date: 16th March 2014
Paperback edition: -
Source: Kindle
Rating: 4.5 stars
Synopsis: What if everything you think you know . . . is wrong?

Cora is your average college freshman. Battling the evils of boring classes and noisy dorms, her greatest concern is how to attract the attention of the drool-worthy, party-god next door.

That is, until Kaden comes barging into her life, insisting everything she knows is false. The family and friends she grew up with don’t exist. Her entire past a carefully-crafted fabrication, created to replace the truth.

Her name isn’t Cora, it’s Cameron. And she isn’t from New York. She hails from Atlantis. Yeah, that Atlantis. Oh yeah, and she’s psychic.

Crazy, right?

Except, tall, dark, and out-of-his-ever-loving-mind doesn’t come alone. Trouble follows, thrusting Cameron back into a world she can’t remember and a life she must reclaim if they’re going to make it out alive.

I was really excited when the author told me about this book! I'm a big fan of her other books and I was looking forward to reading this one! Plus, I knew I definitely wanted to read this after I read the synopsis! It sounded amazing and so different! This book was so unique and it was written brilliantly! I completely loved it! The plot of Resisting Atlantis had a really unique concept to it, which I loved! I haven't read anything like it before! There was also a bit of a paranormal aspect to the plot, but it wasn't like full on paranormal and it didn't have paranormal creatures in it like vampires or werewolves! The plot also had quite a lot of suspense in it and it had a bit of action in it too, which are two things I love in the plot of a book! The plot kept me wanting to read on and find out what was going to happen next too, but I do have to say that sometimes the action slowed down, which made the plot drag on just a little! I loved it though and I really enjoyed where it went! The characters were amazing! Cameron 'Cora' was the main female character and she was kick-ass in this book! At the beginning of this book, she didn't have any idea of her background and her past, but she soon learns all about it and she takes it all in her stride! She was also determined, loyal and feisty, which are things I loved about her! Cameron did surprise me in this book because she started off being quite quiet and kept to herself and then the next minute she was ready to go into battle lol! I just loved Cameron and her personality! Kaden was the main male character and he was so hot and so protective of Cameron! I just adored him! I could also see that he had really strong feelings for Cameron and that he would do anything to make sure she stayed safe! My heart did go out to Kaden when this book went back and showed you how bad his life had been and how bad the environment he was raised in was! Kaden didn't let it change him though and what he had been through made him even more determined to get rid of the bad guys, who were just a bit too close to home ;) There were also quite a few secondary characters in this book and they all added a lot to the plot! I wasn't really expecting this book to be written from both Cameron and Kaden's point of views, but I really enjoyed it because it added a lot to the plot and I loved getting to see Cameron and Kaden's feelings for each other through both of their eyes! I'm really excited to read the next book in this series! This book exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to see what's going to happen next! The ending of this book also leaves it open for so much to happen in the next book, so I can't wait to see where the author's going to take it! The cover for this book is different to what I was expecting it to be, but I like it! It represents the book really well! Big thank you to Jamie for an ARC of Resisting Atlantis and also for having me on her Blog Tour!

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Fighting Connolly’s Series by Roxie Rivera!

Excerpt from In Jack's Arms [Fighting Connolly's 02]!

I couldn't stop staring at those big, strong hands of his. He wasn't as stocky as his youngest brother Kelly, but he was taller and leaner than Finn. Jack had an incredible physique with muscular forearms and biceps that stretched the sleeves of his T-shirts. This close to him, I relished the incredible heat and that intoxicating, woodsy scent that followed him everywhere. It had to be his soap. Jack didn't strike me as the type of guy who misted himself with cologne just to hang around his gym.

Our fingers touched every time he handed me a dish to rinse and dry. I tried to ignore the illicit thrill that sparked deep in my core, but it was impossible. My thoughts kept turning back to the way Jack had so tenderly cupped my face and traced my lip. His action left no chance for misinterpretation. Jack wanted me. I didn’t know why or even when that had happened, but it was clear as day.

I practically vibrated with giddiness at the discovery.
Me. Me. Me. He wants me.

"Abs?" He waved a plastic tumbler. "You zoned out there for a second."

"Oh. Sorry." Flushed, I reached for the cup and rinsed it quickly. Trying to get a grip, I searched for a safe discussion topic. My gaze landed on the tattoo marking the underside of his left forearm. It was the first time I had been at the right angle to read the Latin inscription inked on his skin. "Fortune favors the bold, huh?"

Jack glanced at me with surprise. "You know Latin?"

"Catholic school," I explained.

"Really?" He seemed even more surprised by that.

"I went to St. Mary's."

   "The private school?"

"I was a scholarship kid." The all-girls academy was the best in Houston and had a rigorous curriculum that sent all of its graduates to good colleges. "Actually, I was in the same class as Lena Cruz. Erin Hanson and Cassie Roberts were in the year below us." Knowing that Jack had recently had trouble with Cassie's boyfriend John Hagen, I didn't mention the connection. Instead, I asked, "Do you know Erin?"

"Ivan Markovic's new wife?"

"Yep."

"I know her by sight. She's really pretty—and not at all the type of woman I would ever expect a man like Ivan to marry."

"Their wedding was really beautiful. They seem to be madly in love with each other."

"She must love him to take on that history," he muttered. Scrubbing a plate, he asked, "What about Bee Langston and her friends?"

"You mean like Hadley Rivera?"

"The one who draws comics?"

"Graphic novels," I corrected. "She was a year under me and in the same class as Vivian Valero. Er—I guess she's Kalasnikov, now. Bee Langston and her bestie Coby, the DJ, were a year behind those two. Caitlin Weston went to school with us for a while, but she graduated really early, even earlier than Bee. Pips Barlow Bennett, the oil heiress who hangs around with Ty Weston, was in the same year as Lena and Erin too."

"Jesus," Jack breathed with a tinge of awe. "You've just listed the who's who of Houston."

"The program attracts the best. We've all stayed in touch, networked and supported one another."

"I guess Beyoncé was right about girls owning the world," he said with a playful wink.

I rolled my eyes and flicked suds at him. "I never pegged you as the Beyoncé type."

He splashed me back. "What can I say? I'm a well-rounded guy."

I giggled and dabbed at my cheek with the dishtowel. Looking at the bold ink on his arm, I asked, "So why that motto?"

"It's the way I've lived my life."

"Does that mean you like taking risks?"

"Calculated risks? Sure."

"Like?"

"Like this one."
With those lighting reflexes of his, Jack swooped down toward me and planted his lips against mine. Shocked by his unexpected kiss, I inhaled a sharp breath. My eyelashes fluttered together and excitement rocked me. The chaste touch of his lips against mine, an innocent, sweet kiss like two teenagers on a first date might exchange, ended much too soon.

Still reeling from the surprise of it, I blinked and peered up into the grass green eyes that had enthralled me from day one. "Jack?"

"Tell me to stop, Abby. If you don't want me, you need to tell me right now."

I gulped as his roughened voice sent shivers right through me. "And if I do want you?"

His forehead touched mine. "Kiss me, Abby. Show me how much you want me."

Gripping his shirt, I rose on tiptoes and captured the mouth of the man who had been starring in my fantasies for ever so long. Though I initiated the kiss, Jack quickly took control. Something told me that he would always be the one in control, the commanding alpha male who protected and supported me—and I wouldn't have it any other way.

He cradled my face in his wet hands and flicked his tongue against the seam of my lips. I clutched at his arms, desperate for something to hold onto, and let him swipe his tongue across mine. Head pounding, I prayed my shaky legs would hold me up as Jack stabbed deeper and kissed me with such passion.

As if reading my mind, Jack crouched down and used those brawny arms of his to lift me right up. He deposited me on the nearest countertop, and I wrapped my legs around his waist, drawing him in and keeping him close. His strong hands gripped the front of my polo shirt, tugging it free from my jeans, and then slid under the fabric to stroke my bare belly. His fingertips were rough and hot, rasping me and setting me on fire.

"Jack." I breathed his name with such need. I couldn't believe this was happening. It was a million times hotter than I had ever imagined. Nearly delirious with desire, I rocked against Jack and encouraged the exploration of his masterful hands.

He plundered my mouth, taking what he wanted and giving me so much pleasure in return. Clasping my nape, he tilted my head back and gazed down into my eyes. We were both breathing hard now and both desperate for more, so very much more.
   "Abby, I want—"

But he didn't get the rest of that thought finished.

A terrifying crash shattered our beautiful moment. Squealing tires
and exploding glass could be heard throughout the house.

Jack snatched me right off the counter, dragged me down to the floor and covered my body with his. As if he had never left the battlefield, he shouted orders to Mattie, commanding him to stay put and lock his bedroom door. Pushing me into a corner where I would be well protected, he pinned me with a stern, no-nonsense look as he fished his cell phone from his jeans.
Shoving it into my hand, he said, "Stay here. Call 9-1-1. Do not come after me. Understand?"

"Yes, Jack."

He kissed my forehead and rushed out of the kitchen. Dialing the phone with shaking fingers, I prayed he would come back to me in one piece.

Publication date: 6th March 2014
Paperback edition: 386 pages
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis Lynsie Fox has what she considers to be a perfect life. Married to Lincoln, a military pilot, she's living the Army life she's always loved. Being a sucker for great love stories, Lynsie makes it her mission to find Lincoln's best friend and co-pilot, Dax Adams, a good woman.

Losing the one woman he's ever loved, Dax attempts to be a good sport by playing along in Lynsie's match-making scheme. However, Dax is certain he will never get the woman of his dreams.

But life doesn't always fly smoothly. When turbulence strikes, Lynsie watches her world crash and burn around her, leaving her empty with broken wings. Despite her grief, can she mend the pieces back together and learn to fly again?

I've read this author's other book, Save Me From Me, and I seriously loved it, so I was looking forward to reading more from her! When I first heard about this book, I knew I was going to need tissues and I was going to have a book hangover after reading it lol! And I can say that I was exactly right lol! This is one of the most emotional books I've ever read! I must have went through an entire box of tissues while reading it! It had the kind of plot that you know what's going to happen, but you don't want it to happen! I feel that these kind of plots make you connect more with the book and the characters, which is probably why I cried so much lol! Who am I kidding! I would have cried just as much as I did if I hadn't know what was going to happen! The synopsis gives you a pretty good idea of what happens in the plot, but I love that it keeps it quite vague as well! I do have to admit that I did kind of guess quite a few things that were going to happen in the plot as it progressed, but the plot was so beautifully written and there were some twits and turns in it too! The characters were amazing! Lynsie was the main female character and my heart completely went out to her in this book! I got to experience her when she was happy and she had everything to look forward too, and then I watched it all be taken away in a second! After what Lynsie goes through, she relies on the main male character in this book, Dax! I could see why Lynsie did that because Dax reminded Lynsie of her husband and that's what Lynsie needed, but as the book progressed, Lynsie started to develop feelings for Dax and she didn't know how to handle them! Lynsie learns how to spread her wings though and learns how to let go and live again! Dax was one of the kinda main male characters in this book! I loved Dax! He was such a sweetheart and my heart went out to him as well because he had just lost one of his best friends! Dax was so brave though because he sort of put his grief to one side and made sure that Lynsie was okay and he tried to ease her suffering! You could easily see that Dax had had feelings for Lynsie for ages before he admitted them to her, but I really admired Dax for keeping his feelings to himself and not trying to cause trouble between Lynsie and her husband and then after for letting her grief! I wasn't expecting this book to be written from both Lynsie and Dax's point of views, so I was pretty surprised when Dax's point of view came up, but it was definitely essential because of what happens in the plot! I also loved this book even more because it was written from both of the main characters point of views! I can completely understand why this book is a standalone! Everything is sort of wrapped up and the characters learn how to live again and how to let go, but still remember! I've just discovered though that there's going to be a companion novel that focuses on Dex's brother, Dustin! I'm so freaking excited to read it and get inside Dustin's head! I was really intrigued by him in this book! The cover for this book is unbelievable! It suits the book 100%! I can't get over how beautiful it is! It's stunning! Big thank you to Erika for an ARC of Broken Wings and to Enticing Journey Book Promotions for having me on the Release Day Blitz!
