Release Day Blitz & Review: It Must've Been the Mistletoe by L.P. Dover!

Publication date: 15th December 2017
Paperback edition: -
Source: Kindle
Rating: 4.5 stars
Synopsis: Finding your soul mate is a dream Adeline Hamilton thought was just that … a dream. After several failed relationships, she realizes she’s not capable of falling in love. The only passion she’s ever had is teaching U.S. History at the local high school.

A week before Christmas, Adeline is all set for her best friend’s wedding, even though she dreads having to go to it alone. But when she’s given a Christmas wish that could change her future forever, she’s whisked away to the past, to a completely different place and time. It’s also when she meets him, William Blair, the man who steals her heart.

As their relationship grows, Adeline realizes that true love does exist. What she doesn’t know is that her wish can’t last forever, that soon she’ll have to leave the past behind. Will Adeline and William find their way back to each other? Or will their love have to stay where it all began . . . in 1865? With mistletoe and Christmas magic, anything’s possible.

I'm not normally one for reading Christmas books, but I love this author's books, so when I saw sign-ups for ARCs of this book, I signed up straight away! I only glanced at the synopsis of this book before I started reading it because I wanted to go into it blind and not really know what happens! I'm really happy I did this because it made me enjoy the book more! I also thought that this book was going to a novella or at least shorter than a full-length book because it's a Christmas book, but it was a full-length book, which made me really happy! I also loved the whole idea of the plot and the characters being taken back to 1865 and starting their relationship there! I would also just like to say at this point that this book isn't paranormal, but is a contemporary lol! The plot also didn't have any action and suspense in it, which did disappoint me a little, but there were other things going on and the main focus of the plot was romance! I loved the romance a lot and I loved that it developed slowly! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Adeline was the main female character, and in this book she was a history buff and was a history teacher! I loved that Adeline was a history buff and knew so much about her family background and still lived in a home that had been in her family for generations! When she got transported back to 1865, Adeline was also in her element as she was able to meet her family from years back and experience life in a different time! She fell in love too! I also connected with Adeline all the way through this book and she did go through quite an experience, but she handled it very well! William was the main male character and love interest of Adeline! In this book, present time William was a workaholic and this meant that he had missed out on finding the perfect woman and spending time with his family! William had made some big changes in this book and was preparing to step back from his job and settle down! This made me respect him because it must have been hard for him! 1865 William was a different guy and he wasn't tied down by work, which gave him the chance to meet Adeline and start a relationship with her and fall in love with her! I loved that this book was written from both Adeline and William's point of views! I wasn't sure if it was going to be after I read the synopsis, but I'm really happy that it was! The majority of the book was written from Adeline's point of view, which was understandable and really fuelled the plot, but the few chapters written from William's point of view helped me connect more with him and understand him more! I also thought that this book was a standalone, and in a way it is, but at the end of this book the author announced that there's going to be another Christmas book next year! I'm not sure if it's going to continue Adeline and William's story or be a complete standalone, but I can't wait to find out and read it next year! The cover for this book also suits it perfectly! It really suits the Christmas theme and would definitely make my pick the book up to read the story behind it! I love it! Big thank you to L.P. Dover for an ARC of It Must've Been the Mistletoe!
