Author bio:

I live outside Washington, D.C. with my wonderfully supportive husband and two daughters, one of which is approaching her teenage years. Help us all! If that isn’t enough, we have a Great Dane and an English Bulldog to keep us on our toes. It’s crazy around here, and I love every minute of it!

Writing is my third career. I didn’t set out to be a writer, it was just meant to be. My Mechanical Engineering degree from Virginia Tech prepared me well for my first career as an Engineer/Program Manager. My second career was in Human Resources. Long story, but I figured it out. I believe the best start for a writing career is to be a reader first, and I’ve been an avid reader my whole life. I’ve loved to read ever since I picked up my first Nancy Drew mystery in the fourth grade. Now, I love reading just about everything, but I don’t read sad books. I don’t watch sad movies either for that matter, no matter how many awards they’ve won. Life’s too short, and who needs all that strife to bring us down?

Many of my words have been penned late into the evening, which explains why I’ve never viewed whatever television show you recommend to me. I would, however, love to hear your recommendations for a great read!

Release Day Blitz: Bound to Me [The Harbour 01] by Christy Pastore!

Excerpt!

The duo snogging didn’t bother to make room for us, leaving me no choice but to stand on the same side of the lift with Alex. With our arms brushed against one another, heat spread across my skin like a raging wildfire. The two of us snuggled close in a compact space. My hand still tingled from his touch. It was impossible to concentrate on anything other than him. He was here. Right next to me, looking gorgeous and smelling perfectly divine. All sense I had retreated from my brain as I stood there fantasizing about pushing him up against the wall and allowing him to shag . . . fuck the hell out of me.
Shut up, Ella, you dirty bird.
When the car reached the fifth floor, and the couple playing slap and tickle walked out, I stifled a moan of relief. Unsure if I was comforted due to the fact that they left or that I had Alex all to myself. I glanced at him, trying to get a sense of his thoughts. His mouth was pressed into a hard line, and his eyes remained forward, fixed on the numeric panel.
The lift came to a halt at the lobby and Alex stepped out, his head turned left and back to the right. The unrehearsed movement was fluid. He motioned for me to walk in front of him, but I had no clue where we were going.
   “You lead the way.”
“All right, but keep your pace with mine,” he instructed. His voice was firm not angry.
I nodded, and did as I was instructed, keeping my stride with his as we passed through the spacious lobby. Something had changed his demeanor during the ride in the lift . . . elevator. Mentally I noted that I needed to brush up on my American English. If I intended to do business here, I should at least make the effort to know the proper terms.
Once outside, his hand reached inside his jacket pocket, pulling out his sunglasses. As we approached the valent stand, he put them on, shielding me from seeing his gorgeous eyes that reminded me of glowing golden sunlight sifting through deep green leaves.
Snap out of it, Ella. He’s your bodyguard.
Straightening my shoulders, I hauled my handbag higher onto my shoulder. I vowed to lock all my scandalous thoughts away.

We set the rules…
Well, I set the rules… he agreed.
I left before we could break them, or so I thought I had…

Ella Connolly is looking forward to starting a new adventure in her life. After putting her party girl, headline-grabbing tabloid exploits behind her, she has become a responsible and successful entrepreneur. Moving across the pond to Manhattan, she’s determined to make the dream for her boutique to become an international retail brand come true.

While in the States, her overprotective brother insists she have a full-time security detail. This complicates Ella’s plans in more ways than one.

Alex Robertsen’s life is in shambles. After losing the woman he loves to his brother, he’s been on a steady diet of booze and easy women in an effort to make himself numb. Things needed to change.

Change is good.

Good, that is, until Alex finds himself thrust into an all too familiar situation.

He’s obligated by a professional oath to protect Ella at all costs.

She’s vowed to not let distractions, even the ruggedly handsome ones, keep her from her goals.

But old habits die hard…

We’d broken the rules… more than once.
We were bound to… and we agreed it was worth the risk.
He left before it shattered us both… or so we thought.

Release Day Blitz, Review & Giveaway: The Boss by J.L. Perry!

Publication date: 29th January 2017
Paperback edition: -
Source: Kindle
Rating: 4.5 stars
Synopsis: Hanna Scott … she’s been my obsession since I was seventeen.

She’s the object of every dirty thought I’ve ever had.

I’m consumed.

I lust over her … albeit from afar.

She has no idea how I feel.

And my secret can never come out,
because there’s one major hurdle standing in our way …
she’s my best friend’s little sister.

When she offers to stand in as my temporary secretary, I’m torn.

Will I be able to risk the temptation?

Or will I succumb and lose everything that I hold dear?

I've read this author's Bastard series and it's still one of my favourites, so I was looking forward to seeing what she was going to release next! I was really excited when I opened my email and saw the sign-up for this novella, so I quickly signed up to review it for the Release Day Blitz! I started my ARC of this novella as soon as I received it and I really enjoyed it! I'm also not sure whether to refer to this story as a book or a novella, but I think I'll stick with novella because it was a short read lol! This novella only took me a few sittings to read and it was intriguing! The plot was also amazing and developed at the perfect pace! There was plenty of romance in it and there were some seriously hot scenes too! I did wish that this novella was a full-length book because it could have been developed more and some scenes could have progressed further! It was a quick, steamy read though, and I enjoyed it! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Harrison was the main male character and he was seriously hot! Harrison had also made a life for himself and he had a very successful business and a very good lifestyle! He had come from a very rough and terrible background, so I had a lot of respect for Harrison that he had made a name for himself and didn't let his past define him! It was also easy to see that Harrison had deep feelings for his love interest! He didn't want to let her go and he would rather have had her as a friend than not have her in his life at all! He was also protective of her too, and I'm really happy that he admitted his feelings for her! Hanna was the main female character and love interest of Harrison! Hanna was the younger sister of Harrison's best friend, so it was understandable why they tried to resist their feelings towards each other! Hanna felt the same way about Harrison as Harrison did about her though, so this novella was all about them admitting those feelings and trying to get everyone on board with their relationship! I liked Hanna in this novella! She stood up for herself and she refused to let her brother tell her what to do! She was willing to give up a lot for Harrison and her brother though, which made me respect her! Hanna was also a little vixen at times, which I wasn't expecting lol! I loved that this novella was written from both Harrison and Hanna's point of views! I wasn't sure if it was going to be, so I'm really happy that it was! It made the novella even better and it allowed for more things to happen in the plot! It helped me connect more with Harrison and Hanna too! A chapter was also written from a secondary character's point of views too! I can completely understand why this novella is a standalone! It was left at the perfect place and it was a very beautiful ending! I would love to read more on Harrison and Hanna though because I feel like their story still has so much more to it! I can't wait to see what this author is going to release next and I'm definitely going to be reading it! The cover for this novella suits it perfectly! It suits the theme of the novella and I love it a lot! Big thank you to J.L. Perry and Give Me Books for an ARC of The Boss!

Release Day Blitz & Giveaway: Healing the Broken by K. Street!

Excerpt!

Cash’s POV

   “Stay.”
It’s uttered so quietly, I assume she’s dreaming. Without turning to look at her, I take another step out of the room.
   “Please.”
There is a desperate sound in her tone that seizes my heart and traps the air in my lungs. Turning back, I go to the side of the bed and crouch down, so I’m eye-level with her. Softly, I push the hair off her forehead and hold her gaze. All her defenses are down. If a person’s eyes are windows to their soul, I feel like I’m seeing into the depths of her. Seeing all the broken pieces.
“All right, baby girl, I’ll stay.”

“Strength is born during the moments that are meant to break us.”

Monsters didn’t just live in nightmares.

They were real. They walked among us, and Ryann Sinclair knew that better than anyone. One night, a malevolent act had changed the course of her life forever, and self-preservation became her way of existence.

He’d been burned once, and Matthew Donovan swore it was the last time.

Until Ryann Sinclair walked back into his life.

She was fiercely protective of her heart, and he was hell-bent on protecting her.

Never one to back down from a challenge, he was determined to break her.

Just so he could be the one to put her back together.

Release Blitz & Giveaway: It All Falls Down by M. Dauphin!

Excerpt!

The intense need to be next to her, to smell her, comes over me so I walk across the room and smile brightly when I see her push herself back against the door. From what I remember, that smile got to her last time. I mean, the smile gets me a lot of places, but with Nora it gets me what I want. I stalk closer to her, ignoring the work that needs to get done today, and enjoy watching her body start to react to my nearness. The hitched breath, the pebbled nipples showing through her dress, the goosebumps on her soft skin; all unspoken signs she’s turned on.
“What are you doing?” Nora whispers, watching me move closer to her until I have her boxed in, my hands resting on the door next to her head.
“What I should have done yesterday,” I whisper. My eyes flick to her lips. We’re so close I can feel her breath on me as her lips part. Nora’s body relaxes, her eyes searching mine, every now and then flicking to my lips.
I should do it. I should just fucking kiss her.

He promised he'd never leave. He should have told me. I could have helped. Max came into my life when I didn’t need a man to define me. He didn’t push his way in... not really. He slowly, tirelessly, and patiently waited. He used that damn smile, day in and day out, and waited until I tumbled head over heels in love with him. My grandma always told me to watch out for the pretty boys. The ones that turn you to mush the first time you lay eyes on them. She never warned me about Maxwell Holzer. If there’s one thing in life I’ve always known, it’s that when something goes up, it will most certainly always come crashing down.

Release Day Blitz: If I Dream [Corrupted Love 01] by K.M. Scott!

If I dream, will you dare?

All I wanted was my freedom. It's all I'd dreamed of from the first time I stood in the ring. Until I entered Robert Erickson's world. Until Serena. Cruelty and ugliness surrounded me, but she was beautiful and good. I wanted to protect her from her father's world, even though I knew being with her could mean the end of me.

I wanted for nothing as the daughter of one of the richest men in the world. But all my father's money couldn't buy what I truly craved. Until Ryder. I wanted all he was, all he brought out in me. All he made me desire.

Our love was forbidden by the one person who had the power to harm us. We dreamed of more than living in that world, though. We dreamed of having it all, but did we dare?

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Worth the Wait [Kingston Ale House 04] by A.J. Pine!

Excerpt!

“Grace, honey, I hope you haven’t been waiting long.”
Grace opened her mouth to respond, but the woman cut her off, turning to Jeremy.
“And who’s your tall drink of ginger ale? I thought you were off the man sauce for now. Or is that episode over? Because if it’s not, please tell me you’re keeping him around for when it is. And— Oh! Did you try the Pink Bullet we talked about last time, or are you still relying on the showerhead?”
Jeremy coughed while Grace maintained complete and utter composure despite the woman who must be her Realtor discussing, on the sidewalk, whether or not Grace masturbated.
“What?” the woman added. “Life is too short for mental filters. Say what you want or keep your mouth shut. You keep things bottled up inside, and you’re liable to explode.” She winked. “Yet another reason for the Pink Bullet.”
He raised a brow, intrigued by what his new friend might say in response.
Grace simply let out a long breath. “Lisa,” she said, nodding toward him. “This is my friend, Jeremy. Jeremy, Lisa’s the Realtor who, thankfully, has not leased this place out to anyone else, yet. We’ve known each other as long as I’ve been eyeing it, so she’s kind of privy to the whole cleanse situation.”
Lisa crossed her arms and gave Jeremy the once-over. “God, you two would make fantastic-looking children.” She shook her head. “What a waste. And no, for all the condos I sell, I cannot unload this property. It’s like it’s waiting for our Gracie here.”
He grinned at the sound of the nickname. He bet other people got to call her that, people who knew the real her—all of her. People with whom she spoke freely about her sex life—or lack thereof—and whether or not she pleasured herself.
His dick twitched inside his jeans. Traitor. But how could he blame it? He was conjuring images of Grace touching herself in places that were off-limits to the entirety of the male species, and it was enough to drive him mad.
Friends, he reminded himself, then tried to drum up an antidote.
Nana bringing him cookies when he had the chicken pox as a child.
Nope. That just made him realize he was hungry for something other than kale and that he was still horny.
His ninth-grade English teacher, Mrs. Field. Shit. No. Wrong choice. She was actually kind of hot.
Nurse Elsa, the one who always gave him the flu shot at his old pediatrician’s office. She had that mole above her lip with that one lone hair growing out of it…Yes!
He glanced down at his pants, feeling himself soften.
   At ease, soldier.

I like to think of myself as a man of pleasure…

I enjoy a good pint of ale, being in the arms of a beautiful woman, and living by my own rules. The only thing I try to avoid? Commitment. And I’ve got a three-year success rate to prove it.

I wasn’t planning on Grace—the beautiful, funny, totally off-limits massage therapist who keeps popping up in my life. She’s on a six-month mission to rid her life of toxins. No alcohol. No red meat. And, yeah, no men. I’m talking full-on man cleanse.

I know I should walk away, but I can’t…and the only way to keep her in my life is to live by her rules. I’ll need to prove to a woman who’s lost all trust in men that I’m worthy of her love. And do it all without so much as a single kiss.

The only problem? If I win, I’ll lose the one thing I swore I’d never give up. My heart.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Under Pressure [Body Armor 01] by Lori Foster!

Excerpt!

Justice’s light tapon the door stirred Catalina awake by slow degrees. She nestled closer and went still again. A second later she yawned and turned away from Leese. Her eyes opened, blinked heavily up at the ceiling, then closed again.
As she stretched, Leese dodged an elbow. “Easy now.”
Jerking her head around, she stared at him.
He watched the awareness creep into her slumberous eyes and suddenly she bolted upright. The blankets fell away and he saw her body in the dim room. Nice.
“It’s Justice,” he said. “Time for us to rise and shine.”
After turning to stare blankly toward the door, she gave her attention back to him and her eyes further widened at his naked chest.
   Heat crept up her cheeks.
Smiling, Leese reached past her to the end table for his phone. He sent Justice a text: Five minutes—with coffee?
He got back an affirmative. Sure thing.
“Coffee in five,” he told Cat.
She swallowed loudly, and blurted, “I don’t remember anything!”
A grin fought to take over. She looked a little wild at the moment, and sweeter because of it. Catalina Nichol-son, he surmised, was used to being in charge. Instead, with him, she’d let down her guard.
   At least a little.
“Nothing to remember.” Did she think he’d taken advantage of her through the night—and that she’d slept through it? “We both got the rest we needed, that’s all.”
“But usually I’m a light sleeper. I’ve had to be.”
   That bothered him.
“I remember you telling me to sleep, and then…nothing.”
He pushed halfway up to his elbows. “You were exhausted.”
“And you’re a stranger.” Using both hands she pushed back her hair and continued looking at his body. “I’m losing it.”
Though he hadn’t realized it last night, she’d come to bed in cotton sleep shorts and a T-shirt. The important parts were covered, but a lot of skin showed: her arms, her thighs… Seeing her now, Leese was grateful he hadn’t had that image to add to his torment through the night.

He can protect anything except his heart

Leese Phelps's road hasn't been an easy one, but it's brought him to the perfect job—working for the elite Body Armor security agency. And what his newest assignment lacks in size, she makes up for in fire and backbone. But being drawn to Catalina Nicholson is a dangerous complication, especially since it could be the very man who hired Leese who's threatening her.

What Catalina knows could get her killed. But who'd believe the sordid truth about her powerful stepfather? Beyond Leese's ripped body and brooding gaze is a man of impeccable honor. He's the last person she expects to trust—and the first who's ever made her feel safe. And he's the only one who can help her expose a deadly secret, if they can just stay alive long enough…

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Corrupt Me [Philly Corruption 01] by Jillian Quinn!

Excerpt!

Of the three, Luca was the most attractive. And, judging by his cockiness, that wouldn’t be news to him.
Luca cleared his throat, a smirk tugging at his mouth. “Twice in one day.”
He tapped his knuckles on the table. It drove me crazy—the air of confidence he exuded, the whole I-own-the-school mentality. What a pompous ass.
I rolled my eyes and chugged the last sip of my soda. “Yay for me,” I deadpanned, holding the straw to my lips as I fought a smile. “Now, I know you’re stalking me.”
“Where are you really going tonight, bella donna?”
As much as I wanted to smirk, I liked hearing him tell me I was beautiful. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I struggled with my feelings for Luca. The butterflies doing somersaults in my stomach churned up acid from my picked over mystery dinner.
“Bella—” Luca said, breaking the silence.
“That’s not my name,” I just about spit the words. Even though Bella was a nickname for Isabella, I never liked that name much. Luca’s older brother, Mario, always called me Izzie when we were kids, and I thought Izzie better suited me. “You’re an ass, you know that?”
Luca ran his fingers through his dark hair, flashing a very Preston-like smile. “Let me take you out.”
“Not a chance.” My first thought at his words, “take you out,” was that he wanted to whack me, and that provided me with my own personal entertainment. But I knew he’d be pissed if I mentioned that aloud.
I almost felt bad when he frowned, but he recouped quickly. His looks made it so hard to hate on him for too long. Still, I couldn’t allow myself to become involved with someone like him. In some ways, it was a conflict of interest. There was a reason our families severed ties over the years even though I suspected Grandfather had kept in touch with Luca’s father.
I leaned on the table, meeting his gaze. “Is that part of your winning charm? You think you can give me that shit-eating grin, and I’m going to drop to my knees? Like I said, I’m not interested. If this is about earlier, I’d rather give you the money and be done with whatever this is we’re doing.”
He laughed. “I’m not that bad, babe.”
I snorted at his comment, annoyed by his pet names.
He scratched his jaw, the corner of his mouth opening a little bit. He didn’t need game. He had that crooked smile and that sexy mouth I wanted to smash my lips against.

Izzie Rinaldi has everything going for her. All she has to do is make it through her senior year of college, and then she’ll be off to law school, one step closer to assuming her position at the head of her family’s empire. After a chance encounter with the campus bad boy, Izzie can’t get him out of her head.

Luca Marchese, the smooth-talking son of the most notorious man in Philadelphia, is used to getting what he wants. He hasn’t forgotten the girl he knew as a child, and now that he has Izzie’s attention, Luca will stop at nothing to have her.

Luca’s defiance of the law turns Izzie on more than she cares to admit. She wants Luca to corrupt her in every way possible, despite his reputation as the king of one-night stands. Their attraction is undeniable, but their desire for one another isn’t enough for Izzie to overlook visits from federal agents and the potential ruin of her family.

Linked to Luca and a criminal underworld, Izzie discovers she’s more like him than she thought. But a future with Luca could mean swapping her diamond bracelets for a pair of handcuffs.
