I've read this author's Bastard series and it's still one of my favourites, so I was looking forward to seeing what she was going to release next! I was really excited when I opened my email and saw the sign-up for this novella, so I quickly signed up to review it for the Release Day Blitz! I started my ARC of this novella as soon as I received it and I really enjoyed it! I'm also not sure whether to refer to this story as a book or a novella, but I think I'll stick with novella because it was a short read lol! This novella only took me a few sittings to read and it was intriguing! The plot was also amazing and developed at the perfect pace! There was plenty of romance in it and there were some seriously hot scenes too! I did wish that this novella was a full-length book because it could have been developed more and some scenes could have progressed further! It was a quick, steamy read though, and I enjoyed it! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Harrison was the main male character and he was seriously hot! Harrison had also made a life for himself and he had a very successful business and a very good lifestyle! He had come from a very rough and terrible background, so I had a lot of respect for Harrison that he had made a name for himself and didn't let his past define him! It was also easy to see that Harrison had deep feelings for his love interest! He didn't want to let her go and he would rather have had her as a friend than not have her in his life at all! He was also protective of her too, and I'm really happy that he admitted his feelings for her! Hanna was the main female character and love interest of Harrison! Hanna was the younger sister of Harrison's best friend, so it was understandable why they tried to resist their feelings towards each other! Hanna felt the same way about Harrison as Harrison did about her though, so this novella was all about them admitting those feelings and trying to get everyone on board with their relationship! I liked Hanna in this novella! She stood up for herself and she refused to let her brother tell her what to do! She was willing to give up a lot for Harrison and her brother though, which made me respect her! Hanna was also a little vixen at times, which I wasn't expecting lol! I loved that this novella was written from both Harrison and Hanna's point of views! I wasn't sure if it was going to be, so I'm really happy that it was! It made the novella even better and it allowed for more things to happen in the plot! It helped me connect more with Harrison and Hanna too! A chapter was also written from a secondary character's point of views too! I can completely understand why this novella is a standalone! It was left at the perfect place and it was a very beautiful ending! I would love to read more on Harrison and Hanna though because I feel like their story still has so much more to it! I can't wait to see what this author is going to release next and I'm definitely going to be reading it! The cover for this novella suits it perfectly! Bastard, her fifth book, was released on September 14th, 2015 and became a #1 Bestseller. In November 2015, J. L. signed a 5 book deal with publishing giant Hachette. Luckiest Bastard - The Novella was published through them on December 7th. Her #1 Bestseller Hooker was released on the 31st May, 2016. Jax was released on November, 27th, 2016, and also rocketed straight to #1 on the Bestsellers list. J. L.'s next release, The Boss, is coming January, 29th, 2017. She is currently writing her tenth book, Nineteen Letters, which will be releasing late 2017.
J L's love of romance and happy endings makes a perfect combination when it comes to writing her beautiful love stories.
Her hobbies include reading, writing, drinking wine, shopping, listening to music, and anything artistic or creative. She loves spending time with her family, friends and her dog when she isn't writing. She also loves being outdoors and travelling and exploring the world.
