Blog Tour: A Change of Pace [Northern Lights 03] by Freya Barker!

Publication date: 16th July 2018
Paperback edition: -
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Once a man who lived by the letter of the law.

Newt Tobias will do anything for his little girl. Even take early retirement, sell his city home, and move to cottage country, hoping that the simpler life will provide a better balance for his troubled teenage daughter.

Yet, not long after they’ve settled, he finds himself toe-to-toe with a stubborn, fiery tempered woman with pretty brown eyes.

Once a recluse preferring to live alone.

Working with troubled adolescents, Frederique Marchand doesn’t suffer fools and won’t put up with bullies. Especially handsome strangers like Newt who think they can run roughshod over her. She loves her work, but on her own time she much prefers the company of her menagerie of animals.

But with the welfare of a teenager at stake, she must put aside rocky first impressions and work with a man who needs her as much as she’ll come to need him.

I read the first book in this series just after it released and then the second book just before I read this book! I really enjoyed the first two books, so I couldn't wait to read this book, even though the books in this series can be read as standalones! After reading this book, I can say that I loved it a lot! I was drawn in right from the first few chapters and I couldn't put it down until I had finished it! The plot also had quite a few twist and turns in it that really shook things up and kept me wanting to read on! These twist and turns added a bit of action and suspense too, which I loved! The romance in this book was also very beautiful and I loved it more and more as it progressed! The romance allowed for a few seriously hot scenes between the two main characters too! This book also ended beautifully and was left at the perfect place for the characters! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Newt was the main male character, and in this book he was just trying to do the best he could for his daughter, Millie, and give her the best life he could! This made me have a lot of respect for him because Newt was dealing with a lot and went through a lot with Millie! I loved the was that Newt was with his love interest too! It was easy to see how much he loved her! Newt was also very protective of his love interest and daughter and he showed this several times in this book! Frederique 'Freddy' was the main female character and love interest of Newt! I loved Freddy a lot in this book! There was something very likeable about her and I found her easy for me to connect with! I loved that Freddy had a lot of animals too! She really loved her animals and couldn't say no to looking after more lol! I loved the way that Freddy was with Newt and Millie too! She supported the two of them a lot and brought a lot of happiness into their lives! They taught her a lot too and they made quite the team! I loved that this book was written from both Newt and Freddy's point of views! I was hoping that it was going to be as the first two books in this series were written from both characters point of views, so I'm happy that this book was too! It helped me connect and understand both characters more and it allowed for more things to happen in the plot, especially as both characters didn't spend every minute together! I'm also not sure if there's going to be another book in this series! I really hope there is going to be, but I can't find any information on another book, so I'm not sure! I would love another book though and really hope that there is one! I still have a few of this author's other books to read though, so I'm definitely going to be checking those ones out and giving them a read! The cover for this book is also perfect for it and I love it a lot! Like the other covers in the series, it matches the feel of the book so well and the model on the front is the perfect Newt! Big thank you to Freya for an ARC of A Change of Pace and to Enticing Journey Book Promotions for having me on the Blog Tour!
