Emma Shelford is a thirty-something Canadian, Victoria born and bred. She is a biological oceanographer by training, but books have always been a passion. Her first serious fiction endeavour was Mark of the Breenan. Her commute was a long, tedious bus ride, and she would often close her eyes and make up stories to amuse herself. As Gwen and her friends came to life, Emma started bringing a notebook with her on the bus and the majority of Mark of the Breenan was written there, jouncing and jostling down the road.
