Excerpt!
She slowly slid from her perch on the couch and made her way to my bare fridge pulling out a big box that was placed in there. I quickly took it from her and put it on the counter while she scurried back a good distance. It broke my heart that she was quick to run, but I needed to do this at her pace.
“Well, Mama El knows me, but I guess not that well. I don’t think I remember how to make pancakes.” I tell Roxanne, hoping that if I give her a task, she will at least talk to me. “Do you know how?”
“Mama El said it was all made, and you just need to pour and flip when they are cooked.” She cocked an eyebrow at me, looking me up and down. Almost to say, ‘even a monkey could manage that.’
“Well, how about I set up my electric pan on that far counter, and you can make pancakes while I cook the bacon and eggs for us, and we can surprise your mom with breakfast in bed?”
Not knowing how much sleep Meg actually got, she was still a bit drunk when she did roll into bed. Roxanne eyes me for a moment, trying to find out the angle of my current game. There was no game, just a mission to make these two mine in every way I could.
“I think I can do that,” she started, a slight waver in her voice. “But you may need to help me figure out how long they need to be cooked for before I can flip them.”
“I can do that.”

Michele Lee is made up of two moms that met through a reading group and found an instant connection via the books they love to read. We started to talk daily and found that we both had been working on our own books. Sharing those books with each other, we realized that we have the same writing style and a few ideas stored away that we could combine and make into an amazing world.
So, that’s what we did. We are currently working on multiple stories and have multiple plots written. Now, the struggle is finding the time to get it all out on paper.
With seven kids between us, two husbands, and day jobs, we are working on our stories as fast as we can. However, we are taking the time needed as well to produce the most amazing stories.
The most fun fact about us though? We have NEVER met in person. Everything is done via text message, late-night video calls, multiple pages of notes, and hundreds of Google Docs.
It works though, and our “date nights” are the best. Because they are productively unproductive. Oops.
I was the one that no one saw coming.
I was known for my love of Disney. I was the one that everyone turned to when they needed a friend. But what they all didn't see when they looked at me was the demon that I have, buried deep within. Years of torment turned me into something that I never wanted to be. Now? I can't live without it.

Running from the past and hiding from the unknown, I become the savior she never wanted. I vowed to defend her and her daughter from the monsters that were after them.
I would keep her and her daughter safe.
Yet when more windows to the past are opened, a new, bone-chilling truth is revealed, a reality that I can't ignore. One that I will die before I let it touch Meg or Roxanne.
Monsters may hunt them, but a demon is guarding them.
