Blog Tour: A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire [Blood and Ash 02] by Jennifer L. Armentrout!

Publication date: 1st September 2020
Paperback edition: -
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: A Betrayal…

Everything Poppy has ever believed in is a lie, including the man she was falling in love with. Thrust among those who see her as a symbol of a monstrous kingdom, she barely knows who she is without the veil of the Maiden. But what she does know is that nothing is as dangerous to her as him. The Dark One. The Prince of Atlantia. He wants her to fight him, and that’s one order she’s more than happy to obey. He may have taken her, but he will never have her.

A Choice...

Casteel Da’Neer is known by many names and many faces. His lies are as seductive as his touch. His truths as sensual as his bite. Poppy knows better than to trust him. He needs her alive, healthy, and whole to achieve his goals. But he’s the only way for her to get what she wants—to find her brother Ian and see for herself if he has become a soulless Ascended. Working with Casteel instead of against him presents its own risks. He still tempts her with every breath, offering up all she’s ever wanted. Casteel has plans for her. Ones that could expose her to unimaginable pleasure and unfathomable pain. Plans that will force her to look beyond everything she thought she knew about herself—about him. Plans that could bind their lives together in unexpected ways that neither kingdom is prepared for. And she’s far too reckless, too hungry, to resist the temptation.

A Secret…

But unrest has grown in Atlantia as they await the return of their Prince. Whispers of war have become stronger, and Poppy is at the very heart of it all. The King wants to use her to send a message. The Descenters want her dead. The wolven are growing more unpredictable. And as her abilities to feel pain and emotion begin to grow and strengthen, the Atlantians start to fear her. Dark secrets are at play, ones steeped in the blood-drenched sins of two kingdoms that would do anything to keep the truth hidden. But when the earth begins to shake, and the skies start to bleed, it may already be too late.

I couldn't believe when I opened my email and it said that I had been accepted for an ARC of this book! I really, really enjoyed the first book and I was eagerly anticipating this book's release, so I dived straight in and made it my next read! After reading this book, I can say that I loved this book even more than the first book! The plot had me hooked right from the first chapter and I didn't want to put it down until I had finished it! I even found myself reading a few more chapters every free chance I had! The plot was developed on brilliantly from the first book and I loved the amount of action, suspense, and romance in it! The action and suspense scenes added a lot to the plot and made me enjoy it even more! I loved that there was more romance in this book as well! I wanted more in the first half of the first book, so I'm really happy that this book was full of it! I also have to say that this book was quite long! I wasn't expecting it to be as long as it was, but I'm really happy that it was! The characters were again amazing and made this book even better! Poppy was again the main character, and in this book I felt like she had grown a lot because she wasn't held back by having to act a certain way or hide herself away! I also felt like Poppy had really found herself! She also discovered some secrets in this book and it did change things for her and make her question a lot! Poppy was also full of questions lol and she knew how to defend herself and fight! Casteel was the love interest of Poppy! I loved that Casteel was in this book a lot because I found him a really interesting character and I wanted to know more about him, especially after the secrets that were revealed in the first book! I felt like I did get to know more about Casteel in this book and his family and the people he loved! I loved the way Casteel was with Poppy as well! He was very protective of her and it was easy to see that his feelings for her were real! This book was only written from Poppy's point of view, which I was expecting because the first book was only written from her point of view as well! I normally love books to be written from dual point of view and I've read a lot of books recently that have been! I loved this book only being written from Poppy's point of view and I could understand why it was because it was her story about finding herself and learning about what she was! It allowed for the reader to find things out as Poppy! I was also able to connect with the other characters! I now can't wait to read the next book in this series! The ending of this book wasn't left at a massive cliff-hanger, which I'm happy about lol, but it was left at the perfect place to lead into the next book! I'm not sure when the next book is going to release, but I wasn't expecting this book to be released so quickly after the first book, so I'm hoping that there won't be a year long wait for the next book! I know that this author still has another release this year that I'm really looking forward to reading and I'm definitely anticipating its release! The cover for this book is also absolutely stunning! I loved it as soon as I saw it and I love how well it suits the book and I love how well the cover suits the cover for the first book as well! Big thank you to Jennifer and Social Butterfly PR for an ARC of A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire!
