Synopsis: “They killed me, but I survived.”

Three years after Rory Riordan foiled her own murder, she still trusts no one. Not Dr. Z, the eccentric college professor who has taken her under his wing, not Benji, the endearing, attractive classmate who insists on following her around, and certainly not Cy, the beautifully dark and mysterious boy who sits on the first row in Dr. Z’s Astrobiology class and asks far too many questions.

When Rory witnesses Cy being abducted by soldiers in the middle of the night, she finds herself submersed in a world that holds even more secrets than she could imagine--even darker secrets than her own.

I was seriously stoked to read this book when I first heard about it and saw the cover, so when I got an email about a Review Tour, I quickly signed up! I do have to admit that while I was stoked about reading this book, I was also a little unsure about what I was going to think about it! I mean, I loved this author's other paranormal series, but I knew this book was going to be completely different to it! I was still really excited to read it! This book was amazing and pretty different to what I was expecting lol! I like when a book surprises me though, but I have to say that this book really surprised me lol! The plot was awesome! It was unique and I haven't read anything with the same concept before! That made me love it that little bit more! The only sort of bad think I will say about the plot was the pace! I mean, the bit mentioned at the end of the synopsis doesn't actually happen until like half-way through the book, which is where the plot starts to develop at a faster pace! I was expecting the plot to be a bit more fast-paced that what it was, but it didn't start becoming fast-paced until half-way through! That's the only small complaint I have though! Overall, I enjoyed the plot and I enjoyed that it had quite a lot of action in it and developed nicely! The characters were awesome! Rory was the main character and she wasn't what I was expecting lol! She was pretty bitchy at times and a bit on the mean side! I could understand why she acted like this though after hearing her story! Her story made me feel really sorry for her! Rory was a really strong character though, but she didn't know how strong she was! She also developed a lot as this book progressed, which I loved! I really enjoyed reading this book from her point of view, and I liked her personality and how strong she was! There was also a love triangle in this book between Rory and her two love interests, Benji and Cyrus 'Cy'! The love triangle started to develop pretty quickly in this book, which I enjoyed! I also found it hard to pick between the guys! I mean, I wasn't sure which one I could trust, or if I could trust either of them, so I could see why Rory couldn't either lol! The guys really proved themselves in this book though, and I could see that the two of them really cared about Rory! The guys were also kinda similar in a way, which made it harder to pick between them lol! I could see why Rory picked who she did though! I can completely understand why this book is a standalone! The plot was wrapped up and all the questions raised were answered! The ending was also left slightly open, but the plot was fully resolved! I think there's potential for a novella, but that's just me lol! The cover for this book is so beautiful! I love how bright it is and that it doesn't have a person or couple on it! It's also really unique, which makes it suit this book perfectly! I also love the significance of the title! Big thank you to Jamie for an ARC of Apolonia and to Wordsmith Publicity for having me on the Review Tour!
