Author Interview & Feature: Stacey Rourke!

Hey guys! Today I have the fabulous Stacey Rourke joining us to talk about her series!

Is there anything you'd love to tell us about yourself?

I can touch my tongue to my nose. True story.

For the readers out there that haven't read your Gryphon Series could you tell us a quick bit about it please?

A conduit is a receptacle used to siphon something from one thing to another. In the Gryphon Series nineteen year old Celeste Garrett is the Conduit of the Gryphon, a creature half-eagle and half-lion. The mythical being siphons his abilities into her as well as granting her older brother, Gabe, the form of a lion, and her younger sister, Kendall, the wings of a lion. But these abilities come with a price; there is an army of demons that would like nothing more than to claim them…or kill them.
Wow, that sounds all kinds of serious, doesn’t it? Yeah, it’s totally not. I’m known for my snarky dialogue…it’s kinda my thing.

How did you come up with the idea to write the Gryphon Series?

It started with a dream I had, the end of the book where the hand shoots up out of the blackness of the orchestra pit. From there the ideas began to flow. Even in today’s society there are so few strong female characters for young girls to relate to and look up to that it became my goal to create one for them. Celeste Garrett was born!

Do you have a favorite quote from the series?

 Oh goodness! I love witty oneliners! A few of my favorites have been;

“Purring wasn't going to be an issue if he kept looking at me like that. I was going to have a stroke.”

“I just got told off by a demon. Hello, rock-bottom. We meet at last.”

“He was a gorgeous testament to the male gender, and I was an average looking gal that could bench press a Volkswagen. Nothing good could come of this.”

“Uh, did you run this by Alaina?"

"I tried." Keni gave a little shrug. "But I don't think she heard me. She was busy trying to figure out the "mystical forces" that make the microwave work.”

“When the last guy you dated turned evil for reasons you can't explain it makes the prospect of even a casual coffee date seem far from appealing.”

And of course the tag line for the whole series, “The life of a superhero. Glamorous, no?”

Who is your favorite character from the Gryphon Series and why?

I love Celeste for her sarcasm, wit, and plethora of inner strength, but Grams may be my favorite. She all kinds of spunk, crazy old lady fun!

Who designed your covers?

Crystal Ord does the hand drawn artwork for my covers and K.C. Designs took her creations and added the elements to them to complete the covers. I love them!

Are you currently writing anything? Can you tell us anything about it please?

I have a Gryphon Series novella I’m working on along with the FINAL Gryphon Series book, Ascension. After that I have a brand new series I’ll be starting on. I’d tell you more about it, but I’d have to kill you.

When did you start writing?

In elementary school, no joke. Writing has always played a part in my life in one facet or another.

Is there anything you'd like to say to your fans/readers?

Thank you for all your support, and for granting me the opportunity to entertain you. You keep reading them, I’ll keep writing them! Lots of love to you all!!

All 18-year-old Celeste Garrett wants is to head off to college and make those fun, yet ill-advised, choices college kids are known for. And maybe to spend some time with the hot cameraman she just met. Instead, because of a pact her ancestors made in the 17th century with a mythical creature, she has to save the world.

While normal kids are slamming energy drinks and cramming for exams, Celeste will get her adrenaline rush fighting a fire breathing dragon. She wants to meet friends in the quad to exchange lecture notes, but first she must exchange blows with a shapeshifting demon on the rooftop. Life isn’t always fair for a superhero, but at least she doesn’t have to do it alone. With her brother and sister as sidekicks, they alternate between saving lives and getting on each others’ nerves. Together the trio encounters unspeakable odds, mystical forces and comes face-to-face with an image that will haunt them forever—their grandmother in a leopard print bikini.

Okay, little side note here. If a psychopathic killer asks if you want to see a trick, say no. That’s the smart thing to do. I, on the other hand, responded, “Bring it.”

The Conduit (Gryphon, #1)

Embrace

Whether she likes it or not, eighteen year old Celeste Garrett has come to terms with being the Chosen One. She knew having a “normal life” would be tricky, between intense training sessions and epic demonic battles, but she didn’t know at what cost it would come. That is, until a dear friend is harmed by the malicious forces hunting her.

Now, she’d like nothing more than to retreat into a hermit lifestyle to prevent anyone else from getting hurt. But startling revelations, amazing new abilities, and mortifying moments in front of insanely hot guys won’t allow time for that. Soon, Celeste finds herself surrounded by darkness and wondering who she can trust—if anyone.

Embrace (Gryphon, #2)

The Sidekick Chronicles

Celeste isn't the only member of the Garrett family whose life changed when destiny called. Every sidekick has their tale and in this Gryphon Series short the spotlight is turned on Kendall, Grams and even Gabe. Get an inside look at the hilarious stress that goes along with being a...sidekick.

Sidekicks...ya can't live with 'em and you'd probably die horribly without 'em.

 The Sidekick Chronicles (Gryphon, #2.5)

Sacrifice (releases March 2013)

Celeste Garrett has finally found a happy balance in her life as the Chosen One, thanks in large part to a certain hunky Irishman. But if there’s any lesson she should heed since receiving her calling it’s that everything can change in the blink of an eye. Soon a terrible new threat, unlike anything she’s ever encountered, causes her to make a gut-wrenching choice that will strip her of someone she holds dear.

As much as she’d like to have a pity party for one, there’s no time for that now because wedding bells are ringing in Gainesboro! In between dress fittings and rehearsal dinners Celeste will have to fend off attacking demons and leering pirates. As if the Dark Army wasn’t scary enough our heroine is faced with the horrifying trauma of attending a bachelorette party with her mom and watching Grams do Jello shots. Is a walk down the aisle even possible for a member of the Garrett family when the Dark Army is out to destroy them? More importantly, will the Dark Army Glee Club sing at the reception?

Raise your glass to the happy couple, and get ready for a wedding…Conduit-style.
