Review: Silence [Hush, Hush 03] by Becca Fitzpatrick!

Publication date: 4th October 2011
Paperback edition: 448 pages
Source: Hardback
Rating: 3 stars
Synopsis: Nora Grey can't remember the past five month of her life. After the initial shock of waking up in a cemetery and being told that she has been missing for weeks - with no one knowing where she was or who she was with - she tried to get her life back on track. Go to school, hang out with her best friend, Vee, and dodge mom's creepy new boyfriend.

But there is this voice in the back of her head, an idea that she can almost reach out and touch. Visions of angel wings and unearthly creatures that have nothing to do with the life she knows.

And this unshakable feeling that a part of her is missing.

Then Nora crosses paths with a sexy stranger, whom she feels a mesmerising connection to. He seems to hold all the answers...and her heart. Every minute she spends with him grows more and more intense until she realises she could be falling in love. Again.

Favourite Quote: “You're mine, Angel. And I'm yours. Nothing can change that.”

I was soooooooo looking forward to reading this book after the ending of Crescendo and I got about 50 or 60 pages into it and I was really into it until I actually didn't have a clue what was going on but I did continue reading until the end! I reread Silence a last month and I took my time reading it so that I understood it and I have to say I didn't enjoy it as much as the first two books in this series but Silence did start off really well! I thought that the plot was just bizarre and it wasn't where I was expecting this series to go at all! The characters in this book had changed so much as well! Nora was like a complely different person and it was weird to see her change happen! Patch hadn't really changed that much compared to Nora which I liked! I lovedVee in this book though and I did like that Scott was in it again! I am looking forward to seeing where the last book in this series leads too but I wasn't really a great fan of this book. Again the cover is beautiful!

Synopsis: For the first time since she escaped from her school many months ago, Eve can sleep soundly. She's living in Califia, a haven for women, protected from the terrifying fate that awaits orphaned girls in The New America.

But her safety came at a price: She was forced to abandon Caleb, the boy she loves, wounded and alone at the city gates. When Eve gets word that Caleb is in trouble, she sets out into the wild again to rescue him, only to be captured and brought to the City of Sand, the capital of The New America.

Trapped inside the City walls, Eve uncovers a shocking secret about her past--and is forced to confront the harsh reality of her future. When she discovers Caleb is alive, Eve attempts to flee her prison so they can be together--but the consequences could be deadly. She must make a desperate choice to save the ones she loves . . . or risk losing Caleb forever.

Favourite Quote: "You do anything for the person you love," she said finally. "And then when you don't think you can give any more of yourself, you do. You keep going. Because it would kill you not to."

I was really looking forward to reading Once and I actually really enjoyed it! The beginning was a bit rushed to be honest but then it slowed down and it was the perfect pace! The plot honestly wasn't what I was expecting it to be at all! I had my own ideas about where the plot was going to go after the ending of Eve and also reading the synopsis but I was proved completely wrong which I loved! The plot was full of suspence and again it had lots of action in it! I really enjoyed it but I have to say that I did prefer Eve! Eve in this book was so strong! You could see how much she had grown since the beginning of Eve and I loved her transformation! Caleb wasn't really in this book that much but I loved it when he was! The ending was huge and I cannot wait until the next book in this series! The cover is also very pretty and it suits the first cover in this series!

Review: Crescendo [Hush, Hush 02] by Becca Fitzpatrick!

Publication date: 19th October 2010
Paperback edition: 427 pages
Source: Hardback
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Nora Grey's life is still far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn't pleasant, but at least she got a guardian angel out of it. A mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous guardian angel. But, despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting anything but angelic. He's more elusive than ever (if that's possible) and what's worse, he seems to be spending time with Nora's arch-enemy, Marcie Millar.

Nora would have hardly noticed Scott Parnell, an old family friend who has moved back to town, if Patch hadn't been acting so distant. Even with Scott's totally infuriating attitude, Nora finds herself drawn to him - despite her lingering feeling that he's hiding something.

If that weren't enough, Nora is haunted by images of her murdered father, and comes to question whether her Nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death. Desperate to figure out what happened, she puts herself in increasingly dangerous situations to get the answer. But maybe some things are better left buried, because the truth could destroy everything - and everyone - she trusts.

Favourite Quote: “The only thing a boyfriend was good for was a shattered heart.”

I honestly couldn't wait to get my hands on this book after the ending to Hush, Hush! This was an amazing sequel to Hush, Hush as I was looking forward to more sexy scenes with Patch and Nora! The story basically continues straight after the events at the end of Hush, Hush and the full book was just amazing! The plot was well thought out and there were plenty of action and suspenceful scenes! It was great to see Nora spend time on her own after what happened at the beginning of this book which I wasn't expecting at all! Patch wasn't really in this book that much but I loved it when he was! Vee again made me laugh! She had some of the funniest lines in this book! New characters were also introduced like Scott Parnell and they were definetly essential to the plot of this book! The ending was a MASSIVE cliffhanger and I couldn't wait to get my hands on the the next book! The cover is also beautiful as well!

Synopsis: A SACRED OATH

                  A FORBIDDEN LOVE

Romance was not part of Nora Grey's the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgement.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.

Favourite Quote: “It was a smile that spelled trouble. With a promise.”

I loved this book and I remember the day I actually went an hours train journey to get it. Hush, Hush was a roller coaster and I think that it was the first angel book I actually enjoyed! The plot was full of suspense and action and it left me on the edge of my seat! Nora Grey is the main character of Hush, Hush and I liked her and I felt sorry for her as she had lost her dad to a murder. Nora was snarky, nice and stood up for herself! Patch was the love interest of Nora and he was SO hot! Vee Sky was Nora's best friend and I loved her! She had some of the funniest lines in this book! There were some secondery characters in this book and they were essential! They brought so much to the story! The last few chapters of this book were just amazing! I was on the edge of my seat desperate to find out what happened next! I was really looking forward to reading the next book in this series after I had finished this one and I also love the cover!

Are these people the most beautiful in the world?

I know this post is a little late but it had to be done!

Move over Beyonce and Ryan Gosling as Pepe Toth and Sztella Tziotziosz are in the house!!!

Pepe Toth and Sztella Tziotziosz are the cover models for The Lux Series (Obsidian, Onyx and hopefully Opal) by Jennifer L. Armentrout. They also are on the cover of other books and have a goodreads list dedicated to them. How COOL is that! They recently joined Jennifer in the US to travel around Florida to do book signings and also film book trailers for Obsidian, Onyx and Opal and let me say that the Obsidian trailer is HOT! HOT! HOT! During this tour I realised that they are actually beautiful people and they seem really down to earth and every picture that I saw of them seemed to put a big smile on my face so when I found out that they were engaged in real life I thought "Oh my god their perfect," and Jennifer posted lots of pictures of them on her twitter and also so did Vlc productions who shot the book trailers. I was seriously gutted that I stay in Scotland while this tour was going on as it looked amazing and so much fun. So to show how beautiful Pepe and Sztella are I couldn't resist making a post about them and showing some of my favourite pictures. I hope Jennifer and Vlc productions don't mind if I use some pictures off of their twitters.

Review: Pure [Covenant 02] by Jennifer L. Armentrout!

Publication date: 3rd April 2012
Paperback edition: 329 pages
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.

When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.

When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.
Favourite Quote: “Ever since I’ve met you, I’ve wanted to break every rule.” Aiden turned away, the muscles in his neck tensing. He sighed. “You’ll become the center of someone’s world one day. And he’ll be the luckiest son of a bitch on this earth.”

I was so excited to read Pure after I had read Half-Blood and I enjoyed every minute of it. I loved Alex even more in this book after what she had went through in Half-Blood she was even stronger in Pure and Aiden and Seth were even more protective of Alex as she had to face the Council about her mother. Alex seemed to form more of a romantic relationship with Seth in this book and I really don't know if I am team Aiden or team Seth even after reading Pure. Alex also goes through a lot again in this book as she loses her best friend Caleb which leaves her in mourning, she also has to face the Council and also a buttload of Daimons. I loved the scene after Alex had drunk the Aphrodesian Brew and Seth and Aiden were fighting over her as it showed thier affection for Alex and how much they actually care for her. It was also nice to see Alex's changes as she was turning into the Apollyon and to see how well she was handling the changes. The fight scene at the end was amazingly done and again Alex kicked Daimon butt and she also learned how hard it is going to be to be the Apollyon along with Seth and what Aiden did at the end of the book nearly had me in tears and it again showed how much he cares for Alex and that he would give his life for her. I thought that this book was well written and an amazing sequel to Half-Blood and I cannot wait till Deity is released in November as I have read the first chapter and it looks amazing!

Review: Half-Blood [Covenant 01] by Jennifer L. Armentrout!

Publication date: 18th October 2011
Paperback edition: 281 pages
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill Daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck. - goodreads.com
Favourite Quote: “Two people see each across a room or their skin brushes. Their souls recognise the person as their own. It doesn’t need time to figure it. The soul always knows… whether it’s right or wrong.”

After reading Obsidian also by Jennifer L. Armentrout I decided to give Jennifer's Covenant Series a chance and boy am I glad I did. I didn't actually think that I would like Alex as much as I did as she thought that she could do what she wanted and get away with it until her mother was 'killed' by a Daimon and I realised that Alex acted tough but inside she was broken and that she was really strong. Alex is a half blood and Aiden is a pure blood which means that they are not allowed to be together even though they have feelings for each other. Aiden St. Delphi is a Senital and he was a crush-worthy character who really helped Alex through this book. He was really sweet and you could tell that he felt something for Alex but that he couldn't act on them. Seth is the Apollyon and he was curious about Alex until it is revealed that Alex is also the Apollyon which was such a good twist. Seth also starts to grow to like Alex maybe a little too much. The Greek Mythology used in this book was amazing and I actually think it was the first kind of book with Greek Mythology in it that I actually enjoyed. Alex grows so much in this book and it was nice to see her stand up for herself against her mother. I thought that Caleb was such a good friend to Alex and he stood up for her against other people in the Covenant after they blame Alex for the murders which were caused by her mother who has been turned into a Daimon and he always supports her immensely. Lea was the bitch of the book and she always tried to have a dig at Alex but Alex just got her own back on her. The ending of this book was so amazing, Alex gets taken by her mother who trys to change her into a Daimon so that her mother can control her and I felt sorry when Alex had to kill her mother but she did the right thing. I cannot express how much I loved this book and people actually have to read it and its sequel, Pure which is out now!

Jennifer L. Armentrout!

I thought that today I would make it Jennifer L. Armentrout day on my blog and I will post my reviews of Half-Blood, Pure and also a post that I made about about Pepe Toth and Sztella Tziotziosz who are the cover models for the Lux Series. Also check out my reviews of Obsidian and Shadows! Here is why I love Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Jennifer L. Armentrout is the author of the Lux Series and the Covenant Series and she is AWESOME!

I LOVE Jennifer L. Armentrout so much! She is one of my favourite authors and seems so down to earth. I also love how well she keeps in touch with her fans on Facebook and Twitter. Jennifer is such a hard worker as she has a book out every month until the end of the year which I think is so impressive. I love when you don't have to wait a year until the next book. Jennifer is also so loyal to her fans as she went on tour with the cover models of the Lux Series even though she was unwell! She also gets back to you after you have reviewed her books and says thank you which is so nice! Her books are amazing and the characters are even better. She puts her characters through so much physically and emotionally which some authors sugarcoat but Jennifer doesn't. She is so beautiful and has an amazing personality to match. She is honestly at the top of my 'to meet' list as she is so lovely. Jennifer also created DAEMON! so I think that everyone should love her for that! She is also giving away a LOT of swag and incentives during the YA Crush Tourney which is run by the YA Sisterhood and the incentives include teasers, signed ARCs and signed swag and even though I didn't win anything I still love you Jen! Her books leave you begging for more and when you turn the last page you actually have to sit for a moment and let it sink in and also I am hoping to get start getting ARCs and Jennifer's name will be at the top of my list. Seriously everyone should read Jennifer L Armentrout's books!!!

He promises to protect her, but when soldiers begin hunting them, Eve must choose between true love and her life.
Favourite Quote:“You can love anyone. Love is just caring about someone very deeply. Feeling like that person matters to you, like your whole world would be sadder without them in it.”

I was really looking forward to reading this book after I had read the synopsis and it did not disappoint. Eve is about one girl's journey to escape the horror to a safe place with the help of some friends along the way. Eve is set in a dystopian setting in the year 2032 after a plague and I really enjoyed the setting! The plot was action packed as well! It was also well thought out and definitely suited the setting of the book! The characters were amazing and they were very well written! Eve was obviously the main character and I really liked her! She got stronger as the book progressed and I felt so sorry for her at certain points throughout the book! Caleb was the love interest of Eve and I loved him! He was protective, hot and cute all at the same time! There were quite a lot of secondary characters in this book who were also written amazingly! The ending had me nearly in tears and Eve grew from a child into a woman through her journey but there are still some loose ends in the book which I hope will be answered in the next book, Once which is out now.

To Sloane Price, that doesn’t sound so bad. Six months ago, her world collapsed and since then, she’s failed to find a reason to keep going. Now seems like the perfect time to give up. As Sloane eagerly waits for the barricades to fall, she’s forced to witness the apocalypse through the eyes of five people who actually want to live.

But as the days crawl by, the motivations for survival change in startling ways and soon the group’s fate is determined less and less by what’s happening outside and more and more by the unpredictable and violent bids for life—and death—inside.

When everything is gone, what do you hold on to? - goodreads.com

Favourite Quote: “I woke up and the last piece of my heart disappeared. I opened my eyes and I felt it go.”

What made me read this book was the fact that there were zombies in it but then I read reviews on it and some said that it didn't really focus on the zombies and that it focused on a girl trying not to survive the zombie apocalypse which was a twist as normally you would be trying to survive and I didn't really think I would like it but I gave it a chance and I am so glad I did as when I started reading I couldn't stop and I finished it in a day and while reading the book I watched The Walking Dead to set the background for the book. This is Not a Test is about a group of six teenagers trying to survive a zombie apocalypse trapped in a school. Sloane is the protagonist of the book and she doesn't want to survive the apocalypse as her sister Lily, left her with her abusive father after she had promised that they would leave together and Sloane feels that the apocalypse is an opportunity to leave her life behind as she is unhappy. During this book Sloane forms relationships with all of the group and she takes a giant leap with Rhys to form a romantic relationship which I thought was cute. When I got more than half way through the book I thought it was weird that all of the characters had survived and then all of them started getting eaten by the zombies and I was like WHOA! and then I loved the ending and also how Sloane started appreaciating that she was alive and that so was Rhys. I have to say thought that the book left some questions unanswered like "How did the zombie apocalypse actually start?"

Synopsis: The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane.

Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Favourite Quote: “Dee’s hand fluttered around her as she spoke. “I was outside, and it looked as if a light show was going on in your bedroom. Daemon said you were probably mas—”
And Dee also knew no boundaries.
“Ah, no, please don’t finish that sentence.” He lowered his hands, eyes narrowing at his sister. “Don’t ever finish that sentence.”

I read this novella way back in February so this review will probably be a bit short. I liked this book and I felt that it went at the right pace for it being only 179 pages and it was amazing to see Dawson's story and his relationship with Bethany being formed after hearing about them in Obsidian but not really learning a lot about them. The novella shows Dawson Black who is an alien fall in love with a human called Bethany Williams and how that kind of relationship which normally isn't advised can affect their lives and their loved ones. Dawson is the triplet of Daemon and Dee who are in the Obsidian book and it was nice to see how they all connected with each other before Obsidian and also what Daemon used to be like and why he doesn't want to have a relationship with Katy and how close the Black triplets used to be as a family. I thought Bethany was like Katy who is the main protagonist in Obsidian in some ways but in other ways she was completely different which was refreshing to see how Jennifer can make different types of characters so likable but so different at the same time. The ending was seriously sad and my heart went out to Daemon and Dee after reading Shadows as I kind of hoped that Dawson hadn't actually been killed by the Arum but then after reading Shadows I kind of lost hope but this novella was actually really good and a quick read for Obsidian fans, the cover is beautiful and I cannot wait till I get the paperback copy!

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

Favourite Quote: “I've always found that the most beautiful people, truly beautiful inside and out, are the ones who are quietly unaware of their effect." His eyes searched mine intently, and for a moment we stood there toe to toe. "The ones who throw their beauty around, waste what they have? Their beauty is only passing. It's just a shell hiding nothing but shadows and emptiness.”

This was one of they books where you don't really know what to expect until you actually read it. Obsidian was one of the best books I have ever had the pleasure of reading and I enjoyed every minute of it. The characters were feisty and well written and the plot was different to a lot of other books and also ALIENS. From the beginning I was hooked and then I was biting my nails with Daemon and Katy's relationship and how sarcastic and funny they were towards each other and it was nice to see Dee stand up to Daemon about her friendship with Katy and the 'Laptop Scene' was so HOT that I think I actually started sweating and then the prom made me SQUEAL as it was so romantic and funny when Daemon threatened to carry Katy out to the car over his shoulder and then Katy kicking that Arums ass and saving Daemon was brave and it changed Daemon's opinion of her and then his opinion changed again when Katy led Baruck away from Dee and then the big fight scene at the end was epic and then the ending awwwwww the ending was so different because normally in the first book of a series the main characters normally meet, get to know each other and then they fall in love and I was expecting this book to be the same until Katy walked out the door after Daemon told her that he liked her and then Katy's like “No. Sorry. You have spent months being the biggest jerk to me. You don't get to decide to like me one day and think I will forget that. I want someone to care for me like my dad cared for my mom. And you aren't him.”which was brave and it showed Daemon that he needs to prove to Katy that what he feels for her is real. I cannot wait for Onyx which is out in under a month and I have already read some reviews on it and apparently it is better than Obsidian so that means it must be EPIC and the teasers are sooo juicy.

The Day I met Rachel Caine!

On the 19th of May Rachel Caine who is the author of The Morganville Vampires series came to Glasgow on her tour for the release of Black Dawn which is the twelth book in the The Morganville Vampires series. I was lucky enough to go up to Glasgow and meet her in the flesh and let me tell you she is one of the nicest people I have ever met and I didn't realise how loud the american accent was until I met her. I was lucky enough to only have to wait an hour and 20 minutes in a line to meet her. I got the Glass houses book signed as at the time I didn't have the Black Dawn book until recently and hopefully she will come back to Scotland for another signing. I have always been a fan of these books and I am going to keep reading them as they are funny, romantic and full of original ideas. Also big thanks to my mum who waited an hour and 20 minutes in a line with me.

Hi Everyone!

Hi everyone I am totally new to this blog site and this is my first ever blog so I don't really know how to work it but i'm sure I will eventually and I will be posting near enough everyday. This blog will be used as a book blog with a little bit of tv mixed in because I watch a lot of tv shows and just to let you know that I do not get ARC of books and that I get them when they come out on their original release date as I have no idea how to go about getting an ARC. I would like to inspire at least one person to read a book based on my review using this blog and as you will soon find out I tend to talk A LOT so I am going to end by saying that I hope you enjoy my blog and feel free to leave comments or ask questions!
