To start us off is there anything you'd love to tell us about yourself?
Well, let’s see......I’m 31 years old and I live in North Carolina with my darling husband and two daughters. I love to read and of course you know that writing is my passion. I went to college and pursued a dental career, and I worked in the dental field for 8 years before deciding to stay at home with my youngest daughter. I long to live in the NC mountains and one day I will have me a quaint little cabin there. I might see if my hubby can throw in a little farm in there so I can have me some chickens, cows, and horses. I have never been a country girl, but hey....I might as well try at some point. J
How did you come up with the idea to write Forever Fae?
I have always been fascinated with the faerie world. I fell in love with Julie Kagawa’s Iron Fey series, the Faeriewalker series by Jenna Black, and the Merry Gentry series by Laurell K. Hamilton. I knew that if I ever wrote anything it would be about the fae. I don’t really know how I came up with Forever Fae....lol. I just sat in my favorite chair one day with a notebook and pen in my hand and I just began writing. The story just came to my mind and I let it flow right onto the paper.
Oh wow....let’s see. I love all of my characters, but I think my favorite would have to be Merrick. He’s the hot best friend of Princess Calista and he also vies for her heart. I love his smart ass ways, and did I forget to mention that he’s hot...lol. He’s loyal and very protective of Calista which I find very endearing in a man.
Who designed your beautiful cover?
When did you start writing?
I had always written growing up by writing in journals and such. I also wrote a ton of poetry and had also written a poem that was used in my sister’s wedding. I remember feeling so embarrassed about it too....lol. As far as my novels I had only started working on them this year.
Is there any particular author/book that helped influence you into being an author?
Yes, there is one specific author that pushed me to start writing. Lucy Swing can take the credit for it J I have become good friends with her and her encouragement was what gave me the inspiration to continue on with my dream of writing. I will never forget it.
Right now I am working on a short story that will be combined with another author’s short story. This is a new project that just came to our attention and we are both excited to publish our stories together. I will tell you this though…..my part of the book is about a VERY HOT incubus.
Okay, here you go….
I saw you with Merrick and I know you care about him, but I need to know what you feel for me. If what I saw in the vision is real, we have a deeper connection than I could have ever imagined,” he says softly while rolling wisps of my hair through his fingers.
“Ryder, I don’t know how or why it is happening so fast, but my heart does feel like it belongs to you. When I saw you tonight, I felt it. The connection is there and I see it now, but what if it isn’t real?” I pull away from him to walk closer to the crystal blue water of the lake.
He looks at me bewildered. “Why wouldn’t it be real? It feels real to me,” he says while making his way toward me. He’s coming closer to me and all I want to do is run into his arms and feel his body surround mine. That’s what my body is telling me, but how do I find out if that’s what my heart truly feels?
I shrug and say flatly, “I just think we might feel this way because of the prophecy.” He wraps me in his arms again and tilts my chin up to look in his eyes. He is worried and I can see the tension around the lines of his mouth.
He shakes his head and lets out an exasperated breath.
“Why are you trying to fight this, Calista? Whatever we feel is between me and you. No prophecy or any amount of magic is going to change the way I feel in my heart.” He cups my face with both hands and brings his face closer to mine. Our foreheads are touching.
He breathes lightly in my face and whispers softly, “My heart tells me this is real, and if we can’t believe in our own hearts, then what can we believe in?”
