Excerpt!

It’s almost two in the morning when Zig appears to escort me home. He hovers on the doorway, his arms folded across his broad chest. “You don’t need to,” I say.

His eyebrows shoot up. “Are you planning on walking home?”
I cross my arms over my chest. “I can make it to my room without your help. I picked up a few things during practise, you know.”
“Can you, really?” He swaggers into the room. “A gentleman always sees the lady home and safely tucked in
bed. Safely.”
I roll my eyes as I tug the edge of my skirt lower. It’s so tiny it should be declared illegal. My dinner gown was disposed of, or so I was told. Don’t they have
washing machines? I really loved that gown. “I’m not in the mood to argue, Zig.”
He halts before me, eyebrows raised, and smiles. “What are you in the mood for?”
“My mood,” I snatch the clutch bag from the bed, “has nothing to do with you.” I’m not sure the little shifting knowledge I mustered will help me reach home. All I know is I want to get far away from Grim’s castle, lose myself, and not think about tonight’s dinner. Even if it means getting lost shifting back home.
I brush past him and towards the door. His strong fingers wrap around my wrist, yanking me around. He narrows his eyes. “I have a theory.”
My heart thumps violently until I feel as if my chest will rupture. Sweat beads on my forehead. Does he know what happened in the library? I clear my throat and lift my chin forwards. “What theory?”
"You’re trying to pick a fight with me. Have to warn you, though, I always win.”
“What?” I squeak. My legs almost buckle in relief.
It happens so fast I don’t have enough time to process his actions. He slips one arm on my waist, and the other glides up my back until his hand holds my head firmly in place. I blink, and his lips are on mine, kissing me. Kissing me!
What on earth? I twist my body to raise my arms. Too late. They are trapped between our bodies. Considering his height, bulk, and strength, which I feel pressing onto my bones, I’m at a disadvantage. His arm and hand are like steel around my waist and head. How had I not seen this coming? I stop my struggles, hoping he’ll get the hint. He doesn’t. His kisses taste like curiosity and peppermint. The eyes staring into mine gleam with amusement and… a challenge.
This is nothing close to Rolf’s sensual, toe-curling kisses. And I have a feeling Zig won’t stop anytime soon.
I lift my high-heeled foot and slam it down on his. Immediately, his lips leave mine. He takes a step back, a grin on his face. Is he made of stone? I’m sure I used a lot of force.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” I brush my tingling lips with the back of my trembling hand.
“Cheering you up.” He shoves his hands inside his pants pockets.
Heat spreads all over my body until I feel as though I’ll explode into thousands of pieces. It pools on my fisted hands, tangling with tonight’s frustration build-up. I lift my right arm and swing. It lands perfectly on his chin, and I curse my height for the misplaced aim. I was aiming for the nose. He smiles wider, as if I patted him.
“Don’t you ever kiss me again, Zig. Ever.” My knuckles are on fire, and moisture gathers at the corners of my eyes. I swallow the tears threatening to spill.
“You enjoyed it. Your eyes say so.”
Before I can stop myself, I swing my left arm. It lands on his chest. His body doesn’t budge an inch.
“You can do better than that, lovely Ana.”
My tolerance quota of the day has been reached and surpassed. “Are you angering me on purpose?”
“Clearly, it’s working.” He holds his palms up, facing me, legs braced to balance his weight. “Come on.” With hands raised like he’s some sort of trainer, he looks hot.
I bite my lip as I stare at him. “Why are you doing this?”
He shrugs, still grinning, and beckons me with his hands. I kick my heels to the side and fold my hands into fists. Tiny fists compared to his huge ones. I swing anyway.
Five minutes later, I stop and lean forwards, wheezing unhealthily. Was that the best I could do? Five minutes and breathing like I’ll drop dead in the next second? So disgusting.
“You fight like a girl.”
I gulp air, lift my head, and glare at Zig. “I am a girl.”
He chuckles and pats my shoulder. “A girl who desperately needs fighting lessons.”
My chest is on fire. “Why would I need those?” I wince as I massage my knuckles. I doubt my fingers will manage to hold a pen in class in the morning. I should’ve taken those defence classes Lea slaved away to complete two years ago. They seemed like torture back then.
“Eternity is a very long time. People tend to get bored doing nothing. Feeling better?”
“Extremely invigorated.” I wanted to punch something during the course of the night. This was a great escape. My breathing regulates. “Wasn’t there another way to get me all worked up instead of kissing me?”
“I was thinking on my feet.” He grins, brushing a thumb along his lips.
“Well, next time try to think while sitting,” I snap at him.
“Oh, come on. Don’t be angry with me. Let’s get you home.”
Seconds later, we’re standing inside my bedroom. He strides towards the door, lifts his hand in a small arc, and mutters under his breath to un-spell my door.
I really need to learn that.
“You look exhausted. Need help with anything?” he asks, stretching his long body.
“Can you change forms and attend class for me in the morning?”
He chuckles. “Sorry, can’t help you there, lovely Ana. I was never good in keeping with school rules.”

Review: Never Too Far [Too Far 02] by Abbi Glines!

Publication date: 25th February 2013
Paperback edition: -
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: He had held a secret that destroyed her world.

Everything she had known was no longer true.

Blaire couldn’t stop loving him but she knew she could never forgive him.
Now, she was back home and learning to live again. Moving on with life… until something happened to send her world spinning once again.
What do you do when the one person you can never trust again is the one that you need to trust so desperately?

You lie, hide, avoid, and pray that your sins never find you out.

I was very excited when Abbi announced that Rush and Blaire were getting another book as Fallen Too Far turned into one of my favourite books so to have a sequel was amazing news! After reading it though I do have to say that I prefer Fallen Too Far but this book was amazing! I wasn't really sure what to expect for the plot of this book until a friend of mines suggested what could happen in it and I didn't want that to happen so I was a bit disappointed that my friend was right and what my friend said did happen in the plot! I didn't really want the plot to go in the direction that it did but I got used to the idea pretty early on so I started to adjust! The plot could have been guessed quite easily but Abbi executed it brilliantly and there were still super hot sex scenes as well so I can't complain! The characters were again amazing! I connected with them just as much as I did in Fallen Too Far! Blaire in this book went through a lot of changes! She had to though so she didn't really have a choice! Her changes were all good and she adjusted well! I also really enjoyed that she took a stronger stance with Rush and she didn't rush straight back into a relationship with him! Rush in this book was desperate! I have never seen a man grovel as much as he did to get Blaire to take him back! I have to say though that I loved that it took Blaire a while to actually come to her senses and to actually acknowledge Rush after what he did to her! I didn't enjoy Rush as much in this book as what I did in the first one as he seemed to be quite self-centred and at times he put Blaire second which annoyed me! The rest of the characters were amazing and really brought more to the story! I am really looking forward to the next book in this series as Never Too Far left it at an amazing ending which will leaving you begging for book three! I honestly love the cover and I don't think that they could have done anything else to suit this book more! I also love that it suits the first book in the series!

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Bullet by Jade C. Jamison!

Publication date: 18th February 2013
Paperback edition: 451 pages
Source: Kindle
Rating: 4 stars
Synopsis: An Epic Rock Star Novel

What if you discover the man you want is toxic?

She tasted a little bit of heaven with him, and now they’ve gone through hell and back, but can their relationship take anymore?

Valerie Quinn is a naïve college freshman when she meets on-the-rise rock star Ethan Richards. He’s an idealistic, handsome, reckless young man, but he’s captured her heart. She doesn’t give up on him and eventually his walls crumble down. By the time Valerie has given herself to him completely, she discovers he’s damaged and may be beyond help. Can she
save Ethan and their relationship before he implodes, or will he self-destruct and take her with him?

I actually really enjoyed this book! I wasn't really sure about it when I signed up to be on the Blog Tour but when I started reading it I started really enjoying it! Bullet starts pretty slow which did annoy me as I was expecting it to get to a stage where it sped up a bit but that stage was further on than I would have liked! This is why I had to knock it down a star! The plot was great though! I really enjoyed that it switched from past to present and it was sort of written like the main character was telling us the story of her time in college and her finding love! I enjoyed that the plot was about a band trying to make it big and having to live with the consequences of this! Some of the consequences turned out to be good but others bad! The characters were great! Valerie 'Val' was the main character and to be honest I liked her and then I disliked her and then I liked her again and this is what continued to happen all the way through this book! I loved her at the start and then she started kissing and having sex with all these other guys while I was rooting for her and Ethan so her sleeping with other guys really annoyed me! Ethan was who I would say was the main love interest of Val! He did have so many problems with his drug taking and drinking a lot but I think that Val made a bit of an impact on him which made him stop taking drugs and drinking and then he hit rock bottom! I really hated him when he went about sleeping with other girls as well! What annoyed me about Ethan and Valerie was that there was so much sexual tension between the two of them at the start of this book and it actually took them a while to act on that tension and then their relationship was like a yo-yo! There was a love triangle that didn't really develop in this book but it was there in the background and at times it made an appearance! The love triangle was between Val, Ethan and Brad! I rooted for Ethan for most of this book until his drink and drug habit really hit an all time low and then I felt sorry for him! I wasn't really expecting the ending! I really don't want to spoil  it for anyone who is going to read this book but all I will say is that it really surprised me! I can completely understand why this book is a standalone as it was fully resolved and the ending was perfect! The cover really suits the book and it is hot! Big thank you to Jade for a copy of Bullet and to Shh Moms Reading for having me on the Blog Tour!

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Star Cursed [Curse of the Beast 02] by Ashley Lavering!

Interview!

To start us off is there anything you'd love to tell us about yourself?

I am a huge fan of outdoor recreational sports. I love to scuba dive. When I was young I would dream of breathing underwater, and now I can! However, I now live in a high desert. Lol. Yet, I love how the sagebrush smells after it rains.

For the readers out there that haven't read your Curse of the Beast Series could you tell us a quick bit about it please?

It is a YA paranormal romance and a retelling of Beauty and the Beast with a werewolf twist. It takes two books to tell this modern-day retelling, but I am going to continue their story in book three.

Are you surprised by the response you have had for your books?

I have been overjoyed by the response of my fans! It is hard to know how your creation will be received and when you start hearing how people couldn’t put it down or stayed up all night reading it, it give you such a high! So thanks to all my fans for making my life brighter.

How did you come up with the idea to write the Curse of the Beast Series?

I was daydreaming. And oft times it is about a book I read or something I saw that will collide with another thought and produces a scene in my mind. In this case, I was reading a lot of werewolf books and then read a Beauty and the Beast retelling. Then I saw this girl in a city and with a snarling wolf by her side. She was trying to protect her friends from the beast and the beast was trying to protect her from the boys he thought were threats. So I played the question game and that was the birth of the Curse of the Beast Series.

Who designed your gorgeous covers?

I took the pictures for both of my covers. Curse of the Beast cover was designed by the oh so talented Jessica Drollette from Mystic Manuscripts LLC. Star Cursed cover was my first attempt at designing a cover, but I am very happy with how it turned out J. I still of a lot to learn in the digital art arena.

Who is your favorite character from the Curse of the Beast Series & why?

Beast, because of his southern charm and strength. He can be sweet but when he needs to be he can be commanding and a protector. Besides, he has this adorable grin and eyes that will melt your insides. Oh and did I mention he has lots of wonderful muscles? What werewolf doesn’t.

Do you have a favorite quote from Star Cursed?

The one that makes me laugh is from Tayla: My grin was so large my cheek muscles ached. “You got it. Exclaim gleeful happiness before puking. Anything else?”

Are you currently writing anything? Can you tell us anything about it please?

The first novel that I ever wrote is a part of the Land Magic Saga, a YA high fantasy. I am very excited to get back to this magic filled world of Chagoric Lords (the bad guys) and the Chosen of the Land and her warriors, who fight them. Plus, there are some guys I’ve been missing: Bear and Marek.

Along with writing on that story, I will start on book three in the Curse of the Beast Series. I have a very funny scene where werewolves are on yoga mats. Not sure why yet, but it is too funny an image to not put it in.

Is there anything you'd like to say to your fans/readers?

Just that you all Rock! Thanks for supporting me in my love for writing and sharing my worlds with me.

Review: Falling Into You by Jasinda Wilder!

Publication date: 16th March 2013
Paperback edition: -
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: I wasn't always in love with Colton Calloway; I was in love with his younger brother, Kyle, first. Kyle was my first one true love, my first in every way.
Then, one stormy August night, he died, and the person I was died with him.

Colton didn't teach me how to live. He didn't heal the pain. He didn't make it okay. He taught me how to hurt, how to not be okay, and, eventually, how to let go.

Favourite quote: "I'm not just in love with you, Nell. I'm falling into you. You're an ocean, and I'm falling in, drowning in the depths of who you are."

When Jasinda asked me to make a Book Trailer for this book I automatically said yes! She very kindly sent me an ARC so that I could get a feel for it and I am so glad she did! This book was amazing! It isn't your average story about a happy ever after! It is a story about surviving and going through the process of learning how to letting go even though you don't want to! This book really shows the emotions that someone goes through after someone they loved has died tragically and I found myself tearing up and at some points crying at it is a book that really hits you hard and actually makes you feel what the characters are going through! The plot was heart-breaking but then it was beautiful! It is hard to read as you see characters go through a tough situation but it shows you that love really can heal anything! I really enjoyed this book being told from different time frames as you got to see Nell's relationship with Kyle develop and then see it shatter and then you got to see how Nell deals with the tragedy and then you get to see her start to form a relationship with Colton who teaches her how to love again and how to finally let go! I also liked that it was written from Nell and Colton's point of views as I loved being able to see how much they loved each other! The characters were written beautifully! I loved Nell! I didn't think that I was instantly going to like her but I did and then I connected with her instantly and I loved her! You can't help but feel sorry for Nell for what she goes through in this book! After Kyle's death she can't come to terms with it and she blames herself which makes she closes herself away from the world until Colton comes along! I loved Colton! He was Nell's saviour and he stayed with her through everything! He had been through a lot as well but I loved how honest he was with Nell and he told her everything that he had done even if it was the wrong thing! He was perfect even though he didn't think so! I can completely understand why this book is a standalone as the ending was perfect and all the issues in the book were resolved as well! I love, love, love the cover and I think that it really suits the book! Big thank you to Jasinda for an ARC of Falling Into You!

Review: Relentless [Shattered Hearts 01] by Cassia Leo!

Publication date: 21st February 2013
Paperback edition: 232 pages
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Claire Nixon is a twenty-year-old college dropout with a secret.

To Claire, Adam Parker is just another
flirty customer at the cafe, until a chance encounter and seemingly innocent comment spurs a bet between them. The bet is simple: If Adam can get Claire to reveal the secret that made her drop out of college, she has to re-enroll. If he doesn’t succeed, she gets to keep her secret and he has to stop stalking her at the cafe.

Claire thinks she has this one in the bag. She’s perfected the art of forgetting her past. But she isn’t prepared for Adam’s relentless pursuit or for him to share his own secrets. And she’s definitely not prepared for her rock star ex, and her secret, to come banging down her door one year later.

Favourite quote: "The relentless pull of love is a thousand times harder to fight than the tides. If you're lucky, you'll make it out before you drown. If you're even luckier, you're pulled under just long enough to wash away the sorrow. If you're really lucky, like me, you resurface just in time to find the one you love floating right beside you."

I really enjoyed this book! I sat down for an hour with it and read 35% of it and then after that I kept going back to read a few more chapters every chance I got! When I first started reading I honestly thought that it was going to turn into something like Fifty Shades of Grey but it didn't which I loved! Relentless holds its own ground and is absolutely nothing like Fifty Shades of Grey! The plot was developed nicely! It went at the right pace to keep me wanting to read more and to keep me entertained! I also managed to follow it all the way through! I wasn't expecting the plot to be what it was at all so this book did surprise me but it was a good surprise! The plot has a lot of secrets in it and we gradually get glimpses of the main characters secret as the book progresses but we don't actually find out her secret until near the end and it was a pretty big secret! The characters were amazing! Claire was the main character and I loved her! Sometimes I lost my connection with her but I always found it again! Her secret must have been so hard for her to keep as it must have shattered her to have carried it around by herself for months! It made me really feel for her at the end! Adam was the love interest of Claire and he was hot! I loved how determined he was for Claire to go out on a date with him! He was also always there for Claire as well and he stuck by her! I didn't like that Adam told Claire his secret but Claire couldn't trust herself to tell Adam hers! I did think that Claire and Adam's relationship developed a bit too quickly but when they first started dating their relationship started to pan out a bit and it slowed down a bit! Claire and Adam were also slightly broken characters and they had a lot of secrets but together they were strong and free of secrets once they both told each other them! I am really looking forward to seeing where the next book in this series goes as I really enjoyed this one and I also think that there might be a love triangle in the next one! The cover is hot! It really represents the story amazingly!

A girl with no memory, hidden in plain sight. A boy with no hope, freefalling into Darkness.

Autumn doesn’t know why she remembers a boarding school she’s never visited, or why her reflection isn’t always … hers. There’s another girl in the mirror, a dark-haired ghost that emerges one night to guide her to a cliff near the school. Only Autumn can’t remember what happened there and why it’s so important. Beck’s gentle touch soothes her distress while Decker’s every look sets her body on fire. Caught between the twins, she struggles to understand her instincts and magick while working through the pain caused by a mysterious car accident that left her disabled, barely able to walk.

Unable to recover from Summer’s death, Decker slowly surrenders to the Dark. He can’t live with the pain, and those around him keep Autumn’s secret too well. The guilt he feels when he falls for her – and betrays Summer’s memory – drives him farther from the Light, until he loses control and begins taking the souls of Light witchlings. As the protector of Light, Beck must choose between confronting his twin and watching more witchlings suffer. Decker realizes Beck has come between more than him and the witchlings. With neither of them willing to let Autumn go, they turn on each other.

Only one of them knows the truth. Only one of them will walk away, unless Autumn can find a way to save them both.

Xander's Chance ebooklg

The most powerful vampire on the planet meets his match in Jessi, a woman immune to his magick - and his charm.

As the single-most powerful vampire on the planet, Xander is the ultimate bored predator with too much time on his hands. He manipulates the minds of immortals for fun and bullies around the Gods, while guarding the secret source of his power, a crystal that can wipe out the planet. But beneath the surface, he’s a shrewd creature who learned the brutal lesson of why there must be a balance between good and evil. An unwilling protector of the playthings known as humans, he knows when and where to use his power – and never to let anyone close enough to betray him. It’s easy to do, since he has the power to read the minds of everyone around him.

Except for one: Jessi, an innocent looking woman with an unusual talent who shows up unexpectedly in his life. Her sudden appearance is too convenient to be coincidence or chance. Xander determines quickly that she was sent by someone, but he can’t read her mind to discover why.

Jessi’s secret – and Xander’s – have the power to forever change the human world. Intrigued by a new sort of challenge, Xander won’t know how much danger he’s in, until he’s placed his fate in the hands of a woman whose betrayal will cost either his heart or his life.
