Blog Tour: The Lonely by Tara Brown!

Publication date: 30th January 2013
Paperback edition: 356 pages
Source: Kindle
Rating: 3 stars
Synopsis: The Lonely

The truth is subjective to what the lonely lets in.

Emalyn Spicer has lived with it for a long time. She thinks it goes back further than her memories do. She knows it goes back further than the OCD.

When she arrives at college, her OCD's and the lonely refuse to let her have her wish to be normal.

When she meets Sebastian and starts to fall for him, she lets herself believe it's possible to outrun the things chasing her from the past. But how to you get away from the things inside of you? How do you run from yourself?

Just as she gives up and succumbs to the lonely, the unthinkable happens. She finds herself once again trapped in the dark, once again held against her will.

This time she meets the lonely head on. In the darkest corners of her mind, she discovers there is more to her world than she ever imagined. She discovers that the lonely was there for her, protecting her from herself and her secrets.

How far would you go to find yourself?

This book was actually quite scary! I can completely understand why it should only be for people 17 years and over as it deals with some issues that people under that age should not read about! After I read the synopsis and I found out that the main character had OCD I thought that I was going to be able to connect with her as I suffer from OCD as well! My OCD is completely different to the main character's in The Lonely but in some aspects it is similar! I found that the plot of this book stared out amazingly and then it all got a bit weird! I didn't really understand how it went from amazing to weird but it did! The plot changed to something that reminded me of Fifty Shades of Grey! I am not kidding! There were a few chapters where I was actually fearing for the main character and then it sort of revealed the truth and I got seriously confused! I did manage to catch up with the plot at some stage of the book and once I did and the book sort of got over the Fifty Shades scenes I actually started to enjoy the book a little more! The characters were great! Emalyn was the main character and I really enjoyed her character! It was amazing to see her change during this book and be able to take control of her OCD and her life and start to Eli was a bit of a strange character! You find out more about him as the book progresses and you start to connect with him more compared to the beginning of the book but he was still quite strange! Sebastian was initially who I though that I was going to root for! I did root for him for most of the book and I really enjoyed his relationship development that he made with Emalyn! There was a love triangle in this book between Emalyn, Sebastian and Eli and this love triangle spanned for most of the book but it did get fully resolved as well! I was rooting for Sebastian for most of this book and I don't actually think that I was Team Eli until the end of the book! I can completely understand why this book is a standalone as the ending was absolutely perfect! The cover is also stunning and really suits the book! Big thank you to Tara and Katy for having me on the Blog Tour!

The Lonely

Author bio:

I am not going to talk in the third person. It feels weird.
I am a Canadian author of Paranormal Romance, Post Apocalyptic and Fantasy novels. I write a lot of books and jump Genres a lot. Mostly because I think I have Writers ADD, I like to call it WADD. It might be a real thing.

I write New Adult, my books have sexual content (Heck yes) and Swearing. You have been warned. Now enjoy! I have a beagle named Buster, a husband who I force to read everything I write and two girls who want so badly to be a character in my books. And not in that order. I am mid thirties so be prepared for the chick lit novel this year. I am calling it my Ode to my Midlife Crisis. I have been writing since I was old enough to lie. So for some time. If you're wondering about the hat, it's my 'Hey I'm Canadian Toque' Welcome to my world. Please enjoy the ride.

I am a huge fan of the Zombie Apocalypse and Eric Northman. Sweet Baby Jesus, that man is fine. I have recently branched out and have just published my first Fantasy novel. It is filled with Dragons, Magic, Princesses, The Volkodlak, oh and maybe a little bodice ripping and some cage fighting. But let's be honest who doesn't like a princess who can take care of herself. The novel is called Vengeance and the double sword wielding Princess Amillia guarantees plenty of it. Don't miss any of my amazing series!! Including the one being revealed in the spring, The Blackwater Witches. Bayou witches, creatures of the night and a creepy old haunted mansion.
