Cover Reveal & Giveaway: Evanescent [Broken 02] by Carlyle Labuschagne!

Her fall has just begun. Only his touch can save her from the shift that could destroy it all.

Within my blood runs a thing our kind calls The Shadowing Disease. It shadows over, and bends everything to its will. When the first blood- shift came, it tore through flesh and blood, threatening to bend me, break bone, shatter my mind and entrap my heart with its honeyed, seductive poison. It came with vicious intent, moving my thoughts and altering me forever. The shift has caused a rift within me. No one was safe when it entrapped me in its claws of foul lust. But I have the only antidote against the evil that becomes me – his touch alone has the power to release the spurs of sweet darkness that clung on for dear life. I knew what I had to do; the desperation pulled my mind with the deep determination of a hungry predator. But by the time the revelation raised me from the dark dungeon of my bounds – it might have been too late.

“I know you are there. I can feel you,” I groaned through the darkness.
Silence filled the gloomy room, expanded through the cracks, pushed through thick, gray stone walls, and penetrated the blackness outside.
“You are wasting your time.” But the words escaped in a whisper, my throat so dry it seared.
I felt bruised, inside and out. I tried to lift my body, which seemed to be glued by gravity itself to a cold, hard surface. My wrist stung as I pulled against what felt like barb-wired restraints laced with a poison that left me dizzy. I lay my head back down, trying to catch my breath, sweat clinging to my entire body. A stifling heat choking my vision, my thoughts. The throbbing in my head exploded and rippled through my entire frame. I clenched my teeth, but the pain was too insane to contain. I screamed, and the aching that echoed through my bones, left me icy and shivering. My back lifted and slammed back onto the surface of a metal bed as my breath hit me again. I swore.
“It gets easier with time.” His words filtered through the nothingness inside of me as my heart slowly came back to life.
I swallowed against coals trapped in my throat.
It happened again. The shift was taking me, it ripped and raked over my body. I choked on its blackness.
“Oh, the sin of guilt is an unpleasant thing,” his voice said from right beside me.
I turned my head toward where it was coming from, a tear escaped me. My emotions confined in my esophagus.
“He is going to kill you,” is all I got out, before my eyes closed and I fell into its beckoning midnight.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Girls Love Travis Walker by Anne Pfeffer!

Excerpt!

Only fifteen minutes since I’d entered the halls of Perdido High School and already the beady eye of authority was upon me. I hadn’t even done anything wrong.
   Yet.
“Travis!” Ms. Valenzuela called out to me from the door of the guidance office. Although she was getting old, maybe into her early forties, she hadn’t let herself go. She had great legs, which were hidden today by her lime green pants.
“Yo.” I loped over and unleashed a grin that combined sincere remorse for my failings with my irresistible charm.
She pursed her lips. “Don’t start with me, Travis.”
I led the way to her office and took my usual chair while she sat at the desk across from me. “New picture,” I said, nodding to the updated photo of her two daughters. “Kelsi and … Julianne, right?”
She struggled to keep back a smile. “Yes, Travis. Those are their names.”
   “Fifth and seventh grade, right?”
“Yes, Travis.” Now she was smiling for sure.
Maybe it was my blue-green eyes, or maybe my granite abs, but I could always get women to smile at me.
Ms. Valenzuela opened my folder. “Six more absences since your last visit to my office. Plus numerous missed homework assignments. You’re this close to suspension.” She held up her thumb and index finger a millimeter apart.
“I have to work, Ms. Val,” I said. “Gotta get ahead, you know.” I had a promising position as a bus boy at Jake’s Burgers.
“How many hours are you working these days?”
“As many as I can get, whenever I can get ‘em.”
“You can’t cut back?” She knew she couldn’t push me that hard. My family’s sudden move to Los Angeles in November of my junior year, coupled with my erratic attendance at Perdido High, had screwed up my graduation credits. With all my former classmates in college, I was starting my senior year, again, at age nineteen.
   “I can’t get weekend shifts at Jake’s,” I told Ms.Val.
She didn’t like me working there, but she should just be glad I wasn’t following in the path of my father, who knocked over a convenience mart a year ago and ended up in prison for armed robbery. Mom had gone to visit him, but I refused. He could rot there for all I cared.
“You’ve got one school year left to graduate. I want to see you get that high school diploma, Travis. Or a GED at least.” Between her fingers, she rolled a pen. It was the cheap kind the school district bought that wrote for about five minutes before it crapped out on you.
“Yeah, well, we’re about to get evicted,” I said, “so that’s kind of rearranged my priorities.”

To nineteen-year-old high school dropout Travis Walker, women are like snowflakes--each one different, but beautiful in her own way.

He can charm any girl he meets, and yet down deep he fears he'll always be a loser like his jailbird father. As the landlady threatens to evict him and his sick mother, Travis takes a job he hates and spends his evenings picking up girls at a nearby night spot.

When he enlists in a teen program at the local fire station, he finds out he’s amazing at it. Then he meets the smoking hot Kat Summers, enlists Kat’s friend Zoey to help him woo her, and falls in love for the first time ever.

But he keeps the details of his life secret. His girl will never love him back if she knows the truth about him….

I adored the first book in this series! It was everything I love in a book! I had been desperate to read this book since I finished the first one so when the author emailed me to ask if I would like to be on the Blog Tour I got really excited! She did tell me that this book was very different to the first book in the series though! Resplendent was so different to Happenstance! I wasn't really expecting it to be as different, but it was! I didn't really enjoy it as much as the first book if I'm honest, but it was still amazing! I found the plot of this book a little hard to follow at the beginning of it! I think it was maybe because some chapters went backwards in time and they didn't really have a lot of backstory as to how they related to the present! After a few chapters like this I was able to understand what was going on and who was who in the story! I did have to pay close attention though! The plot was still amazing and it had me gripped! I found it hard to put down! It was written well and I thought the twists that were thrown in were unexpected and added so much to the story! The twists were so amazing! I especially loved the one near the end! That changed the outcome of the entire story! The characters were amazing! Savannah was a character that I loved! She had been through a lot with the main guy character and then she went through even more with him during the course of this book! She was such an easy character for me to connect with though! She was strong even when she wanted to break and there was a point in this book where I didn't think that I was going to like her, but in the end I loved her! She was a strong character! I adored Andres! He was the guy that I could tell had always had feelings for Savannah! When she walked into a room he was the first one to find her! It was so sweet! I could completely understand why he felt the need to break things off with Savannah when they were younger! He felt it was the right thing and although I think that they should have just talked about it in the long run it was the right thing to do! I also loved how protective he was of her! Savannah and Andres made such an amazing couple! They came so far together! I really enjoyed this book being told from both Savannah and Andres's point of views! It made it more interesting and I enjoyed going into both of their heads! I'm not sure if there's going to be another book in this series with other characters, but if there is I will definitely be first in line to read it! I'm loving this series and I hope that there's more to come from it! The cover for this book is pretty different to the one for the first book, but it's a completely different story so I understand that! The cover for Resplendent is stunning though! Big thank you to M.J. for an ARC of Resplendent and to Angie from Angie's Dreamy Reads for having me on the Blog Tour!

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Sink or Swim [Fight or Flight 1.5] by Jamie Canosa!

Publication date: 21st July 2013
Paperback edition: 209 pages
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: There are some things you just can't walk away from.

When sleeping in vacant warehouses and dark alleys becomes preferable to living at home, something is seriously wrong. But when word reaches Allie that her mother is facing a life threatening illness, she has no choice but to return to the place of nightmares. Leaving wasn't a choice, it was a necessity, and if returning hadn't been equally necessary, Allie never would have set foot back inside that hell-hole.

Dean is no stranger to hardship, but the day Allie walked out of his life, taking his heart right along with her, was hands-down the most frustrating. Six months later, she's back and Dean refuses to rest until he figures out exactly what the hell happened.

Now, Allie's drowning. Drowning in lies. Drowning in the truth. Drowning in pain, and anger, and fear. But there comes a time when every drowning person must decide whether they will . . . Sink or Swim?

Favourite quote: "When I thought I’d lost you, those were the worst moments of my life. I couldn’t breathe. Because you’re my air, Allie. I can’t breathe without you. I love you more than anything in this whole world. I always have and I always will."

You know how sometimes you get one of those books that you have to spend a couple of days getting over before you can review it? Well, Sink or Swim is one of those books! Nothing could have prepared me for this book! Nothing! This book was absolutely amazing! I'm going to refer to it as a book rather than a novella as this was and felt like a full length book! I've been an avid fan of Jamie Canosa for ages now, but this book has got to be her best so far! I completely fell in love with the first book in this series and I thought that this book was going to be similar or be set in a similar background to Fight or Flight, but it was completely different! It was a completely different setting with completely different characters! The plot of Sink or Swim was really emotional! It had a lot in it and my heart completely broke for the characters! I didn't expect the plot of this book to be what it was as it was quite a heart-breaking book, but I think it's probably one of Jamie Canosa's best books! The plot was a whirlwind, but it was so amazing! Watching the main character go through what she did was horrible, but I loved that author didn't hold back and try to dramatize the situation! She showed it in its true nature and she didn't hold back even though it was really horrible for the main character! I really admire the author for that! The characters were amazing! Allie was the main character and I felt that she was a bit of an angry person, but then I thought about all the things she has endured and I realised that she actually hid behind a shell! She didn't want to show emotion because if she did then she suffered the consequences for it! After I realised this I started to connect with her more and I admired her so much! She had been put through a lot and what she had to endure was horrible! Dean was such a cutie! I absolutely adored him! He was so protective of Allie and I could see just how deep his feelings for her went! He would give up everything to save her and watching their relationship grow again was so beautiful! I loved that this book was written from both Allie and Dean's point of views as this gave me the chance to go into both of their heads and see the story through both of their eyes! I know that there's going to be another book to this series and I cannot wait to read it! This is my favourite series by this author and I love everything about it! I originally read this book before it had a cover and I didn't really have an idea as to what the cover could look like so when I did see it I was floored! It is absolutely stunning! Big thank you to Jamie for an ARC of Sink or Swim and also for having me on her Blog Tour!

Blog Tour: Repossession [The Keepers Trilogy 01] by Rachael Wade!

Excerpt!

The quiet drone of a train’s chugging grew louder as it approached but was still eerily muted, a graceful ghost passing in the night. Minimal light shone from the front car as Jet stepped forward to align himself with its path.
“How do we know where it stops?” I asked, positioningmyself next to him.
   “We don’t."
   “So …”
“So we have to make a run for it.”
   “You mean jump?”
   “Yup.”
“As in … jump onto a moving train.”
   “Yup.”
   “This is crazy.”
“A dangerously disturbing level of crazy. No worries, baby.” He patted my shoulder with a smartass grin. “It’s just your area of expertise.” I narrowed my eyes at him, storing that one away for a future retaliation jab of my own.
Adrenaline spiked as the train grew closer, every nerve ending a live wire to the heart pounding violently in my chest. Jet grabbed my hand, glancing at my gun. “I’ll go first. Once I get a good grip, I’ll haul you up. Whatever you do, don’t stop running. And don’t let go.”
“I should go first,” I raised my voice to speak over the rumbling of the track. “You’re hurt. You’re going to need upper body strength.”
“I’m fine. Don’t fight me on this.”
Blood pounded hot in my ears, my heart rate jumping and hair blowing wildly around my cheeks as the train began to whizz by. The rush in my veins propelled me forward the moment I spotted an opportunity, and I launched into a controlled sprint. Springing upward, I lunged forward and latched on to the side of the car, the metal handle slippingbeneath my sweaty grip. I shrieked and latched on harder, hearing Jet’s voice thunder behind me. The train’svibrations rattled against my chest, sending my senses on high alert.
Clenching the handle until my knuckles hurt, I bit down on my lip to ease the tension and yanked hard to the right, feeling a heavy latch click and shift beneath my fingers. The door slid open and I hauled myself up and inside, grabbing onto the side of the frame to steady myself before flipping around to reach for Jet. He was running full speed after me, his arms pumping tight and sharp at his sides as he tore forward.
“Come on!” I yelled, extending one arm. It only took him a few seconds to catch up, his agile form sending his body off the ground and up onto the car before I could blink. With a loud shout, he clamped onto my arm, his other hand flying over his chest to cradle his gun. I was thrown onto my back with a thud before I knew what hit me, his body covering mine with a crash that left me seeing stars.
“Fucking crazy woman!” he shouted over the rail’s relentless roar, louder now that we were level with it. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” His heat pressed into me, his arms caging me in as he stared down into my eyes, his nose aligned with mine.
“Fulfilling my sole purpose to drive you mad, it seems.” I couldn’t help it. The rush sent me sky-high and an explosive laugh escaped my lungs. I shook beneath him, my breath heaving against his chest.
“Damn it, Skylla!” He dropped his head as he gasped for air. “Seriously!” he added for effect, but there was nothingserious in his voice now. He was laughing too, just as deep, just as euphorically as I was, and I decided right then that the sound of Jet’s laugh was almost as sexy as his full lips and ripped body.
   “Wanna go again?”
“You’re reckless. I can’t even look at you.”
   “You’re crushing me.”
His head lifted, those blue eyes settling on me as his laughter slowed. “You deserve it.”
My hand shifted and found his injured hip; my fingers brushed the bandage through his shirt. He flinched. “And you need to admit when you need help.”
Pushing himself up, he rolled off me and sat back on his heels, wincing and gripping his side, his lips pulling back and teeth visibly grinding with the motion. I sat up and scooted forward, mindful of the gaping railcar door. I reached up and slid it shut, slamming it with a loud grunt until I felt it lock into place. The loud rumble of the wheels hitting the track was muted now, but the rattling hum still thumped away from outside, filling the dimly lit car with a shaky buzz.
   “I’m fine, he said.
“Fine. Play it your way. I’m going to see if I can find you some medicine.”
I helped push him backward to prop him against the wall, peeling his backpack from his shoulders first. “Try and rest, I’ll see what I can find out.”
“I’m not letting you wander around these cars alone. Not fuckin’ happening.”
“If you don’t rest and get medicine for that wound soon, I’ll be stuck wandering everywhere alone. That ointment won’t cut it. You’re going to need antibiotics. It’s starting to get infected.”
His gaze snapped up to mine and held my stare. “Finger on the trigger.”
“Fire on your mark.” I smirked.

Skylla only knows that she has been kidnapped and held prisoner by the foreign invaders and their human allies. And that the world is ending. Or so the humans think. The invaders have made it clear that their arrival is one of hostile intent, and as their takeover spreads, so does the panic across the globe. No one knows how to defeat them, or if it’s even sane to try.

Jet, Skylla’s human captor, is up for the challenge, though. A traitor in Skylla’s eyes, he is working with them. But Jet has his own agenda; one that doesn’t include babysitting Skylla or helping the enemies. And as the human race struggles to keep the invaders from achieving their goal, Jet and Skylla’s paths collide to reveal the truth behind Skylla’s abduction.

The invaders are headed for the water. Jet is headed for the water. But that’s the last place Skylla wants to be. That’s where the future of humanity lies, and where the bridge to their yesterdays was burned. On a mission to take back what is rightfully theirs, Earth’s population is determined to make sure this isn’t the end. But some endings were never theirs to
begin with.

She agrees on a casual fling with Gage, but soon they’ll both see how the fling will blur into something they can’t control and when it’s finally time for Eliza to go and accomplish her own dreams, she’ll know there’s more she took from Gage than she ever thought possible.

I had been desperate to read this book since I first heard about it! I had such mixed feelings about it though! I loved it, but it kind of annoyed me at the same time! It was the kind of annoying though when you can't put the book down and you just want to keep reading! I think this book was probably the first time that I've ever felt like that! The plot oozed sexual tension! No joke! It was hot and it was sexy and it was oh, so good! It got so much better as it progressed as well and by the end I was dying for more! The plot kept me entertained and there were plenty of hot scenes to make me swoon like mad! I thought that the plot was very well written and it will definitely be a hit! The plot was quite fun, but there was a serious message behind it as well which I loved! I don't think everyone will get the message, but I did and I learned something from it! People will fall in love with the characters in this book as well! I mean who wouldn't love the hot lead singer of a band? The characters were amazing! I actually started to connect with them more at the end of the book than at the beginning! Eliza was the main character and I adored her! I felt at times that she had two different personalities though! There was the shy, held back Eliza and then there was the hot, come and get me Eliza, and while reading the book I didn't know which Eliza I was going to get! She was such an interesting character though and I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens with her story in the next book! Gage was the main male character and I thought he was a serious douchebag! I actually fell in love with him at the end of this book rather than the beginning because during it I just thought that he acted like a bit of a prat! He thought that every girl was going to fall at his feet and what I liked about Eliza was that she'd had a serious crush on him for years, but was one of the only people to not fall at his feet! He was still exceptionally hot and at the end of the book I actually cried for him! There were quite a few other characters in this book and they all added so much to the story! I'm really hoping that the author maybe gives them all separate stories as they were all amazing characters! OMG! I am dying for the next book in this series! Nothing will stop me from reading it when it comes out! I will definitely be anticipating its release! The cover is also hot! I knew it was going to be hot before I even saw it, but it definitely exceeded my expectations! Big thank you to Shanora for an ARC of Who He Is and also for mentioning me ad my page/blog in the Acknowledgements!

Cover Reveal & Giveaway: Searching for Tomorrow by Katie Mac!

What happens when you find the one person who completes you, and then life conspires against you? How do you set your grief and anguish aside? How do you pick up the shattered pieces, put those pieces back together again, and try to move on?

Katie and Tripp met on the playground the first day of third grade when Tripp tried to rescue Katie from Zack, her twin brother. A lifelong friendship that later blossomed into love began that day.

Broken beyond her own ability to repair, Katie boxes her grief up and attempts to raise her three girls the best she can on her own. As time slowly passes, Katie relives her times with Tripp while struggling most days to even get out of bed. She is reminded of him at every turn.

Zack is Katie's twin brother and was Tripp's best friend. Having lost his own love, he dedicates himself to helping Katie put her life back together. Throw in a mother-in-law who torments at every turn and poor Katie can't even find a chance to breathe, much less a desire to somehow search for tomorrow.
