Review: Spark [Elemental 02] by Brigid Kemmerer!

Publication date: 28th August 2012 (ARC provided by Kensington via Netgalley)
Paperback edition: 432 pages
Source: Kindle
Rating: 5 stars
Synopsis: Gabriel Merrick plays with fire. Literally.

Sometimes he can even control it. And sometimes he can’t. Like the fire that killed his parents.

Gabriel has always had his brothers to rely on, especially his twin, Nick. But when an arsonist starts wreaking havoc on their town, all the signs point to Gabriel. Only he’s not doing it.

More than Gabriel’s pride is at stake -- this could cost him his family, maybe his life. And no one seems to hear him. Except a shy sophomore named Layne, a brainiac who dresses in turtlenecks and jeans and keeps him totally off balance. Layne understands family problems, and she understands secrets. She has a few of her own.

Gabriel can’t let her guess about his brothers, about his abilities, about the danger that’s right at his heels. But there are some risks he can’t help taking.

*SPOILERS READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!*

I really enjoyed this book as much as the first one and it was nice to see Becca and Chris appear in it so much as I loved their story! Gabriel is the leading man in this book and Layne is the love interest! After meeting Gabriel in Storm we get to go inside his head and see how he feels along with Layne as Spark is told from both of their point of views! Layne was so shy but it was great to see her start to open up to Gabriel! Again new characters were also introduced but also characters from Storm were still in this book which I loved! The plot in this book was really good! Some of the plot kind of continues on from Storm but Spark has a completely new plot as well! The arsonist was not who I was expecting it to be and I thought the whole concept of Gabriel being able to control fire and what had happened to Layne was really good and very well executed! I definitely recommend reading the first book in the Elemental series, Storm first before reading Spark! Big thank you to Kensington and Netgalley for the ARC!
